Mike M.Furnace died on one of the coldest days of the year. My previous plumber had retired. Simmons came to the rescue. Dave was on time, courteous and fixed the furnace quickly. Even offered suggestions on how to clean and maintain the furnace. Price was reasonable and Simmons has gained a permanent customer!!!!!
Karyn L.I called this company because my furnace wasn't working and they were the last to service the unit when I bought the townhouse a few years ago. They charged me $145 for a service call at which the technician could not fix the furnace and instead told me he suspected a crack in the heat exchanger and that I needed a new furnace. He sent someone out to provide quotes($5000 and $6000). I was all set to go ahead with the replacement when friends suggested I get other quotes to compare. I called two other companies and both came to a different conclusion after looking at the furnace. I did not need a replacement at all and that the problem could be fixed for less than $500. I learned a lesson to always get second and even third opinions. Both of the other companies also provided their assessments free of charge. I am beyond disappointed with this company.
We have used Simmons on many occasions. They have diagnosed, repaired and serviced our furnace, air conditioning system and sump pumps. Always a quick response time with courteous and knowledgeable staff. Very pleased with their work and customer service. Will use them again and again for our service and repairs.
We have a very elaborate beachfront property. We're very used to contractors going high on their estimates. A minor emergency requires me to find a local HVAC/Plumber quickly. They came at the specified time. The work was above and beyond what I expected and the bill was less than half what I expected.needless to say I will never call another company for our climate and plumbing needs.
Make that 6 different tags, plus the stickers. I found two more hanging from other pipes in the basement. They must have really bought them in bulk LOL!
Since I purchased my condo in 2014, I have been experiencing problems with my boiler not maintaining the temperature set on the thermostat, when we would experience a prolonged cold snap with temperatures below 20F outside. I tried making adjustments such as changing the thermostat or turning the heat up beyond my normal house temp in an effort to ""ride out"" cold temperatures, but the indoor temperature, even if set as high as 75F would still drop ever so slowly to 60F and sometimes 58F. No upward adjustment of the thermostat would remedy the situation. When these issues would occur, the temperatures outside would be very low, causing the service reps to make emergency calls for issues such as leaks from frozen pipes, so by the time a service rep could make a house call for me, the outside temperatures would have rose above 20F and the boiler would seem to be operating correctly. It wasn't until I got the service repair man Craig (last name unknown) that my luck turned around. Instead of dismissing my concerns or my historical knowledge of the situation he listened and continued to troubleshoot the system. After trying several things he opened up the front panel and noticed that the aquastat temperature dial had been turned down to 140 F. I have a Boiler with forced hot water for my heat. These systems should be set at about 180 F, and typically they are left at 180F and no further adjustments are made. We hypothesized that the previous owner had turned the aquastat down in and effort to save money when the condo was on the market. Craig made the adjustment and replaced a reducer valve as well. My system was not originally set up properly as there is no air scoop, so the system must be purged of air at least on an annual basis or the air buildup in the lines will lower the efficiency of the system. Craig took the time to show me how to bleed the lines properly, waiting patiently while I took notes. He also explained how my system worked, the limitations, and what could be done to improve the system. I was left feeling much more knowledge about my boiler and had the confidence to do minor troubleshooting. Unfortunately, we weren't out of he woods yet. The pressure release valve blew hours after the aquastat had been turned up. I called Simmons emergency line and the gentleman on the phone was able to talk me through what to do. The success of that call was mostly due to the knowledge I had gained from the service call with Craig. I was able to turn the aquastat down and bleed the lines to reduce the pressure. Simmons sent Craig back out the next day where he replaced the reducer valve which was under warranty, and installed a larger expansion tank. Ever since that day my heat has been working properly. The expansion tank I had previously was not sized to fit the system and it was installed upside down. Craig corrected those issues explaining each step along the way. I have Simmons clean and service my unit ever year and will continue to do so thanks to the excellent service I received this year from Craig. On my own I insulated all the hot water piping that was visible in the closet where the boiler was and in the attic, as well as installing heat trapping curtains on the bedroom windows. Each day we now turn down the thermostat when we leave the house to reduce the energy consumption. This was not possible before the repairs as the heat, if cold enough outside, would not rebound if left too low. With the changes that Craig made along with the additional insulation my heating bill went down by $30-40 as compared to the same month in prior years! I am a satisfied customer and want to give full credit to the excellent service Craig provided.
Michele C.I have just installed a new furnace with Simmons. They provided many options when quoting and were on time for installation. They worked diligently to correct an electrical issue with my old thermostat, and when they had to schedule again for the next day they apologized for the inconvenience. The technician worked through the issue successfully. The work was completed neatly and successfully as quoted. The techs were polite and tried to be as unobtrusive as possible. I am very happy with Simmons!
Elizabeth B.I had called and made an appointment and they came right on schedule in the timeframe that was told to me. The plumber that came out was very thorough and professional--I had some faucets replaced and also had trouble with water pressure all of which they fixed. Also my husband had placed a paper towel underneath the piping on one of our toilets because it had a small leak. The plumber noticed the paper towel and fixed the issue that we had-and we had not even told him anything about that. He was very observant and also very patient.
I have called other plumbing companies and they say that they will come out and you wait the whole day and no one ever shows up. So I was very happy when they did come and showed up right in the timeframe that I was given also. I would definitely use them again.
Dianne L.Look elsewhere for a plumber.
Let me preface this by saying that we should have looked at Yelp first. had we seen the one star rating, we would have kept looking for someone to replace the filter. We have come to respect Yelp! Ratings.
1st issue: We had a leaking sediment filter and purchased a brand new housing and called Simmons to install it. While installing , The young man melted the new housing and then charged us to buy a new one! (He admitted to us he was new and was afraid he'd lose his job, true or not we bought the story and paid for it! SHAME ON US)
2nd issue: we decide to replace the sediment filter with a carbon/sediment filter and learn that we didn't get the correct tool to unscrew the filter housing (2nd new housing the plumber put in was different from the one he melted.)
So we call to get the tool, at 3:30 on a Friday. Gal says that she will find out what we need and get back to me. At 4:30 I call her back...she hasn't been able to get in touch with the technician to find out what filter he used. she tells me she won't be able to get back to me until Monday and to have a nice weekend....Really??
( this is laughable...would he really have my file from three months ago with him in his truck? Wouldn't you think it's filed away in the office?)
3rd issue: The receptionist just left me hanging...I had to call her back...amazing...
UPDATE: we never heard back from Simmons Plumbing. No call Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday...nothing.... Poor Customer Service
We called Simmons for an emergency drain cleaning. They were very accommodating, getting us into their schedule. Very profession, polite and they even cleaned up before they left. You would never know they had been here.
Thank you !!
