Called Charlie about some banging pipes I started having. He knew exactly what the problem was on the phone. ""Guessed"" that we had bought a new front loading washer and dryer. In old buildings, these cause a water hammer. He told me exactly what I needed to buy to fix the problem and told me how to do it. Extremely nice guy. He went above and beyond in helping me and at no monetary benefit to him. I will definitely continue to use Charlie when I need a plumber.

Our hot water heater gave out the Saturday before a long weekend. We'd never had the heater worked but Sillari was listed as having installed/serviced it for the previous owner so we called them. They were incredible. We called on Sunday, someone came Monday afternoon (on a holiday) to look at it and provided an accurate quote. We had a working heater in by 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The unit was still under warranty and they handled everything with processing that as well.

I have a troublesome boiler and have dealt with Sillari P&H several times. I lack home repair savvy and could easily be taken advantage of in these matters, but Charlie Sillari has always been completely honest (and affordable). Last week, for example, I had an issue with a 9 year-old hot water tank: Charlie could easily have suggested that I replace the whole thing, but after solving my problem he told me not to invest in a new one as my existing tank had a stainless steel tank that could potentially last several more years.

Sillari P&H is super-responsive. They have a 24 hour answering service, so even when I've called at 6am, I get an answer, followed a call back from Charlie himself shortly thereafter. He's generally able to make it to my home by 8:30am or 9--which is exactly the kind of thing you want if you're having a heating problem in winter.

I highly recommend Sillari P&H. Before landing on Sillari, I had tried several others in the Somerville area. None were as responsive and they generally could not diagnose or solve my heating issues.

This past winter, our overly complex steam boiler/superstore hot water/dual hot water loop system malfunctioned, leaving my kids (and me) with no heat. A succession of plumbers (expensive, inept, ept but not familiar with electrical, ept but absolutely refusing to *touch* electrical) finally fixed the blockage in the plumbing - but left us with intermittent hot water. We'd been babying it along since May, trying to get various people to call us back, with no luck.

Last WEdnesday night, the hot water heater refused to turn on at all. Whatever was wrong was the final straw, and it wasn't coming back. And again, nobody answered their phones, and I got the ever-so-fun experience of giving my kids a stone-cold bath.

Thursday morning, I started the broadcast bat signal of ""Help, I have a household with children and no hot water!"" Less than half an hour after I called him, Mr. Charlie Sillari was on the line, calling me back to get a thorough description of the problem. After some brief, not-insulting discussion, including, ""I don't do electrical, but I partner with this person who does all my electrical bits for our boiler installs,"" I have someone at my door fixing my hot water heater before NOON. And then, after the electrician had been and gone, he *called back* to check and make sure everything was OK and functioning.

I know who *I'm* calling this Autumn to get my boiler serviced. Thank goodness, I finally have found a plumber who treats me like I know when my heat is still busted, and who will make sure it STOPS being busted without blowing smoke.

We inherited a plumber with our home who was a total clown. Thankfully our neighbors recommended Charlie for a big project. When he came to look at it he instantly saw a different problem then the other plumber had diagnosed and was able to do a comprehensive repair/reconfiguration that will give us many more years before needing a new furnace.

Recently we're having major issues with our steam heat and have been talking to Charlie almost daily - he calls back immediately and knows our house better than we do from work he did on it over a decade ago. I swear this man has a mental map of the plumbing on every house he's ever worked on. Charlie is friendly, prompt and very responsible. He has essentially made a suggestion against his own interest in recommending we not spend more money maintaining an old steam system and switching to something more low maintenance and efficient. I can't ask for more than that!
