Sila heating and air sent a technician who came in with an attitude and told me that it would cost $4000-$4500 to fix my unit. Though I admit some ignorance in this field, I'm not quite that stupid. I said farewell, and called Barstow & Sons. Their mechanic Greg quickly diagnosed the problem, explained it clearly to me, and repaired it....for $224. That's roughly one twentieth of the price that Sila gave me.

Guy came out 10 days ago and ""fixed"" our air conditioner for $300. It worked kind of a few days then started blowing hot air again. Called and said they would not charge us to come out again, which is good; but nobody showed up during the 2-4 pm window they gave us and nobody bothered to call and tell us he'd be here at 5. We had an appointment at 5:30 so that didn't work. We waited in a hot house for 2 hours for nothing. I understand things run over, but inform your customers what's going on. We won't be calling them again. Now we have to pay a new company to come out and start all over again.

I would not recommend this company. SILA would not stand by a warranty for a furnace component that they sold and installed only a year prior to it's going bad. They also quoted me a price for another system repair that was more than twice the amounts that were quoted by other HVAC firms. Use them at your own risk.

Cool at last!

We bought a home constructed in 1921. Previous owners had installed window units, which we loud, worked inconsistently and ran up our electric bills. We met a team of Sila professionals at the Washington Home and Design Show, and made an appointment with Brentin Cottrell. He was on time, professional and courteous, and he provided us with a handful of options - traditional, high-efficiency ductless and mini-splits. We opted for high-efficiency ductless.

Installation took about a week, and our home remained shockingly clean throughout the installation process. The install team maintained Sila's level of professionalism throughout.

Today, our home is cool inside on the hottest day. In fact, because their system dries the air, we can set the thermostat to 73 (as opposed to 68 with window units) and feel perfectly comfortable. This increases our cost savings by about 50 percent monthly on our electric bill.

We also have Sila on a maintenance plan. They service our new AC system (which they installed), as well as the heating system (which was in place when we bought the home).

I sell real estate, and recommend Sila - and Brentin - to anyone looking for expert AC installation.
