In 2010, Jack transitioned that enterprise into an independent company and rebranded it as Sila Heating & Air Conditioning.
Although Sila has experienced substantial growth and success, it remains a family business at its core, with Jack Rothacker providing mentorship and serving as an important member of Sila's Board of Directors.

Derek K.We used Sila for several years now and maintain an annual service agreement with them. We Just bought a new home last year, and have had them out twice - once to inspect the furnace, and just recently for annual preventive maintenance on the air conditioning. Carlos Reed is the technician who visited most recently. He was very helpful, communicative, and transparent about our system and equipment. Really appreciated the time he spent testing and explaining everything to me.
A. N.I have been using Sila for a little over 18 months and they have been very good to work with. Today i had a major scare regarding my heat pump. I called Sila and explained the issue to Ramsey who immediately understood the potential seriousness of the issue. He made sure a technician was dispatched to my residence as soon as possible. Approximately 90 minutes later, Carlos Reed arrived. After he did an inside and outside inspection, he explained to me in terms I could understand that there was no need for me to worry and that everything was fine with my heat pump. I was very relieved. He is a wonderful ambassador for Sila.
Shafer M.My HVAC system is on its last leg. Carlos Reed came and did a complete and thorough inspection and walked me through each component of the system. He knowledgeably answered all my questions, was friendly and very tidy.
Zach B.Had my HVAC checkup which SILA is offering a special on to make sure my system that SILA installed is working properly. Technician, Carlos Reed, was courteous, showed up on time, and best of all gave me advice on how to better maintain the system. I've been happy with SILA from installation of a new system and all follow up service/maintenance.
Becca S.I reached out to Sila to get an annual AC and heat tune up for my unit over the weekend and they called me back on Monday to set up a time for the same week. Carlos Reed was the technician who came out to service my unit. He was super professional and explained everything that he was doing along the way, which was really helpful.
Sila has always been a consistent provider of HVAC services for my home through the years. When the home warranty company said it would be a week before seeing a technician, I called Sila. They were quick and provided a technician on-site within 48 hours.
We have a maintenance contract with them for our incredible wonderful mini split by Mitsubishi. Sila always calls us to remind us of our maintenance needs. They provided very flexible schedule. Their technician arrived on time. Masked, vaccinated, and knowledgeable. He did a great job and pointed out a few items to be aware of on our 5 year old system. Quick, convenient, and thorough, you can't ask for better service. Well done. Robert was our technician.
Teri D.My furnace was working just fine. It is 10 years old and I thought I would get a good servicing just to make sure everything was in good condition. The tech from Sila got all excited and told me I had a crack in my heat exchanger and that it needed to be shut down immediately because it could leak carbon monoxide. Gave me quotes for new heaters and told me that they would bump me to the top of the line because it was an emergency. I thought it was odd, since the heater was working fine and I have carbon monoxide detectors in the basement close to the heater. I called 3 other companies and all of them said that the heater was fine! They said that the so-called cracks were just weld joints and that the heater was in fine condition. I called the manager at Sila and complained and asked for a different tech. Another tech came and said the same thing -- a crack in the heat exchanger. Called a totally different reputable company that had been strongly recommended for their honesty. They checked it out thoroughly and said, NO WAY. Heater is fine. I spent $600. to confirm that what the Sila techs told me was a lie. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE CROOKS!
Alonso O.Requested services from Sila for my furnace that quit suddenly in the morning. The ""technician"" came within hours of me scheduling an appointment, but he communicated quite unprofessionally (1st red flag). The technician identified the induction fan to be the problem and said it needed to be replaced, and that was the extend of the troubleshooting.
He excused himself to produce a quote and came back with an estimate of $1,270 for the repair (2nd red flag) or $1,200 for the repair and scheduled maintenance. There was no breakdown on parts, labor, or maintenance fees at all, just a total amount (3rd red flag) even though I asked for a breakdown of the quote. Needless to say, I opted out of both options and paid $98 for the call.
I took it upon myself to inspect the induction fan since I found it difficult to believe a 5-year-old fan would cease. I tried spinning the fan clockwise, but it would not turn. However, when I tried to spin it counterclockwise, the motor spun, albeit with a bit of a tension.
I removed the induction fan and found a bird was the obstruction (starlight bird if you must know). Then, I tested the motor and found it was within the range of operating ohms when I tested with a multimeter. I removed the bird, mounted the same induction fan for which I was quoted $1,200, and my furnace worked perfectly, like new...which it basically is.
Long story short, I did not need an induction fan, and $1,200 was clearly a scam and a rip-off.
I do not recommend this company to anyone, friends or enemies. Stay clear, you've been warned.
This company is a complete and total scam and you should avoid them. I wish I would have read their recent YELP reviews before hiring them. I hired Sila 5 years ago for some small plumbing work and was very happy with the experience then. Given my previous experience, I signed a service plan with them last year- BIG MISTAKE.
Our heat stopped working and a technician came out (past the service window they confirmed with us) to investigate. After spending a few minutes with the outdoor air condenser, he came back and said ""you have leaks in multiple places and it needs to be replaced can can't be repaired. We will need to send out a different technician to give you a quote for replacing the unit"" When I started asking more questions he called someone and came back 5 minutes later and said ""Good news, I can fix the unit"" and he proceeded to give us a written estimate for a bit over $1,800 for the repair."" Something seemed off about this experience and I couldn't understand how in 5 minutes time it changed from, spend $5K to replace a 6 year old compressor to suddenly, ""no problem, it can be repaired.""
I hired a more reputable company to come out and look at the system and within a few minutes they conducted a simple leak test which clearly showed where the leak was coming from-- it was so obvious. They also said the last technician did not replace the screws to the fan unit and that they where nowhere to be found on the ground or around the unit. He also said another part had been removed and not properly screwed back on. The kicker, this other HVAC company quoted us $800 for the same repair job. Mind you, this other HVAC company is a major licensed/insured company so it's not like I'm getting a better deal by having an inexperienced small company do the repair. They also could not understand why the other technician suggested the unit would need to be replaced, especially given the repair was not too terribly involved (about 3 hours of labor) for a unit which is less than 6 years old.
Stay away and call someone else for HVAC work.
