Before founding Sila, Jack began his journey alongside his father, Steve Rothacker, at a firm named Unique Indoor Comfort.
With guidance from his father, Jack assembled an exceptional team that grew their services into the Philadelphia area, transforming this family operation into a vibrant regional enterprise.
In 2010, Jack transitioned that venture into an independent company and rebranded it as Sila Heating & Air Conditioning.

Although Sila has experienced continuous growth and outstanding success, it remains a family business at its core, with Jack Rothacker actively contributing his insights and support as a mentor and an essential member of Sila's Board of Directors.

Martin came out to give me a quote for a high velocity system in an old Victorian home. Immediately it was less expensive than the first quote I got from another company AND they could install it sooner. When his Foreman, Huong, came out later that day to map out the job, he figured out a way to install cooling in the kitchen area, which the other company could not do. So even though the job got more expensive, it was still less expensive and more coverage than the 1st quote! Martin, Huong, and the workers were meticulous and clear communicators and made me very comfortable throughout the whole process. I was able to enjoy my first night last night in a very cool home. Thank you!!!

We had Sila replace our old air conditioning system. They were prompt, fair priced and did an excellent job. We called them to come back for an adjustment and to add a vent. They responded quickly and completed what we needed. The guys were neat and cleaned up completely. Our new system works perfectly. So cool! Office personnel were friendly and helpful.

I had a new HVAC heating and cooling system installed by Sila - an important investment. For starters, the techs had trouble with the install and had to call the office several times for instructions. Not reassuring. They broke the gate leading to where the A/C condenser was placed and didn't tell me. Discovered it afterwards...Not professional.

More importantly, when I looked at the tags on the model that was installed, it was not the same as on the contract. I researched it on line and found that it was and older model. When I called to enquire, the salesperson, Adam, insisted it was the same as was in the contract and just as functional. Simply not true. It was not the same model and the stats online showed it was less powerful, albeit modestly.

I spoke to my neighbor who told me he had the same experience with Sila. He caught it early however, before installation, and had them change it. In my case it was too late. As the technical specs between the models was relatively small, I wasn't going to have them rip out the system just installed. I couldn't handle another day of them banging around the house.

If customer service was polite and attentive, that we would have helped. Instead, they have a lousy attitude. Two families on the same street having a model delivered that was not the model purchased? Just a coincidence? Buyer beware. There are plenty of alternatives out there.

I hired Sila to install a mini-split system into my home. I gave their rep full access to my home to produce bid, which came in higher than other bids. However, I hired them based on the design they proposed and commitment to install within 2 week time frame. When I went to accept agreement, i was concerned about language which suggested they could change the price if they needed to. So, when I questioned their rep, he confirmed that price would not change.

Five days prior to project scheduled completion another rep did walkthrough and contacted me to indicate 'complications' and they needed to do walkthrough with me to discuss. They were not available for walkthrough or until 3 days prior to scheduled completion. During this walkthrough they essentially redesigned project and would add around $6k to my cost, while not completing within schedule.

They broke all of their commitments: cost, timing, and design. Additionally, reps (including GM) were unapologetic and not helpful with resolution. I then contacted chat support requesting regional support and 1 week later have not heard from anyone.

Hard No on ever recommending Sila.

Stay away! They'll charge you immediately but will not send an invoice. I've called multiple times for an invoice. The person who came to do a tune up assumes no responsibility in sending me an invoice and asks me to call SILA. I have called SILA multiple times to no avail. The after hours person even hung up on me. This ""business"" is very sketch. Why would you not send a customer an invoice after charging them? It is so strange. I also asked for a certificate of insurance to see legitimacy of this business and they weren't able to produce it either. Probably scam.

I had a very disappointing experience with this business. My husband and I are purchasing a home and we are getting a rehab loan for the home. Part of the loan is requiring us to get quotes for services before finalizing the purchase of the home. I called this company to set up an appointment to get an estimate on installing a full HVAC system in the home. I told them that I did not yet own the home but we would be buying it. They set up an appointment with us and then did not show up. When I called the company to inquire about where their service person was, they did not know. I told them that we only had an hour to be in the home as we did not own it so we needed to get the service person in ASAP. They sent me to the service department where I was greeted with a voicemail message and not a person. I called back again and let them know that the service person was now 45 minutes late and we had 15 minutes to get this done. They could not tell me where the service person was. I reiterated that we did not own this home yet so we had to be out of the house by a certain time. Finally I get a callback. Someone from their company told me that as of the day before they no longer do estimates on homes that are owned by the person that made the appointment for the estimate. This was not the policy when I made the appointment and they refused to honor the appointment even though it was made before the policy change. I'm now completely screwed and this company just lost out on a multi thousand dollar sale.

I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone, including my worst enemy! The company sent out a wonderful salesman who knew his stuff inside and out. Ed really impressed us with his knowledge and dedication towards customer service. This is where all of that ended. To replace our central air unit they were the most expensive quote we received; however, I figured you get what you pay for. Boy was I wrong! The work that was completed did not match the contract. Part of our unit that was supposed to be replaced was not, and the old parts remained intact with the new ones fitted into them (in our contract we paid for new parts). After installation our unit consistently made a sound as if a car was backfiring every time it turned on or off. We were also left with hanging water lines. We called the company who sent someone to determined what the issue was; however, he could not fix it himself. For several weeks we awaited a return call from a company who lost our service ticket. We eventually got a manager who promised to send out someone to once again determine the issue. He took a look and created a ticket for another service man. After now taking 3 days off of work, the next man was in and out in five minutes stating he needed additional parts (even though the company already knew what needed to be done). Finally, after 4 days off of work, the unit was fixed to the specifications of our contract. The frustration with this company was endless, with service men up to several managers (the complaint just kept getting elevated) consistently dropping the ball. From initial order date it took about 6 months to have a fully working unit installed to the specifications of our contract. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for a new unit! You will save a lot of time, money, and hassle! This is a company that embodies ineptitude from top down.
