Before Sila, Jack began his career working alongside his father, Steve Rothacker, at a company named Unique Indoor Comfort. Taking direction from his father, Jack formed a top-notch team that broadened their reach into the Philadelphia area, turning the family business into a dynamic regional entity. Jack restructured that enterprise into an independent organization in 2010, renaming it Sila Heating & Air Conditioning.

Sila continues to embody its family business spirit, with Jack Rothacker lending his expertise and mentorship as an essential member of Sila's Board of Directors, despite its growth and success.

Price gouging overcharging pay $600 just for diagnostic. Uses scare tactics on worse scenario saying tank is leaking and wants replace entire toilet. I say no. But they still charges another $1,000 for part/ installation. The actual part was a toilet fill valve that is $14.

came home from work at 10p Friday 1/17 to find no heat in house! Called few
HVAC companies and earliest appt was Monday 1/20... that did Work for me especially with cold weather coming. Saturday 1/19 called Sila HVAC and actually talked to real person. Rob was at my house within 30 minutes. He resolved problem with furnace and did safety check for carbon monixide. Problem was dead bird in flue! Rob recommended chimney company that I'll call to have cover over chimney. Excellent service with Rob from Sila HVAC.

Called last evening for an urgent gas pipe issue. Got a confirmed appointment for this morning. No call or text until this afternoon when they said they would have to push me off 4 days, or until next week. Shocking disregard for customers, in my view. When I indicated I would be reviewing them on BBB, Yelp and Angie, they suddenly found they could move things around a bit and make it after all. By then I had looked around and found another company that would get the job done and not jerk me around.

I got several estimates to install mini-splits in my home. I received a written estimate from Sila for $28,172- not counting the rebate ($3000+) from MassSave.

Since this was a good price, I called to schedule a start date. A representative form Sila came to my house and presented me with a new written estimate for $35,810 (this included the $3000+ rebate from MassSave).

When I showed the rep my prior written estimate, he said something like, ""You don't want that- it's very inferior equipment."" At no time was I ever given this higher estimate. I told him it was a case of bait and switch. I hired another company.
I believe this is a very dishonest company.

I'm not sure where to start. A no heat call resulted in a technician coming to diagnose. specific instructions to focus on the boiler itself as the thermostat was tested and working. technician came in and went right for the thermostat paid by time to diagnose. after explaining it wasnt the thermostat and I needed them to focus on the machine (also told when calling the to schedule), they decided to explain their experience and why I was wrong. result: they couldn't manually start the machine because the machine was the issue.

they then diagnosed and told me the part store wasn't open (holiday) and it would be first thing in the am. they were up at 6am each day, would get the parts and be back to fix between 8-10am. 11:30 next day no tech, no call, just a charged credit card.

called the office, no info, no clarity, no commitment!

Just when the cold got colder, the furnace acted up. Our service man Tim W came on Christmas Eve to put us right. Super personable guy who took us through the issues and saved our Christmas cheer with timely and efficient resolution- replaced the thermostat and reprogrammed it for us - a special Christmas Eve!

Highly recommend Sila and we will always ask for Tim.

Been a customer for over 15 years and Sila changed quite a bit in the last few years

Called when we try to schedule a maintenance service, give the date time and then got a call that they have other urgent customer. Wasted a PTO on that waiting for Sila to come.

2 months later, had a problem w the boiler. Called and est 5000 to replace it or better to replace the whole system for 25000. SERIOUSLY? Have another vendor came in to replace the fan, for 1700 and examed the other part of the system and reported they are functioning ok. Sila is becoming like a car deal. Yes, they can replace everything new and quick and they won't care your hard earned money!.

I recently called sila for service on a leaky pipe. The technician was pleasant and did replace 8 inches of copper pipe. in 55 min. He charged us 600.00 for that. He noted my water heater which he said should be replaced by next week and estimated the cost to be 12 000.00 ! He also suggested a smaller size tank 50 gal would be priced at 3800.00! Wayyy over what other plumbing companies are charging. Not sure who sets tge prices for sila but its considerably overpricing for this work. ?
