Prior to founding Sila, Jack gained experience working with his father, Steve Rothacker, at Unique Indoor Comfort. With his father's mentorship, Jack assembled a remarkable team that grew their business into the Philadelphia region, transforming the family venture into a successful regional operation. In 2010, Jack established that business as an independent entity and renamed it Sila Heating & Air Conditioning.
Sila continues to embody its family business spirit, with Jack Rothacker lending his expertise and mentorship as an essential member of Sila's Board of Directors, despite its growth and success.
Our approach is clear. To deliver the highest quality of service by supporting, empowering, and rewarding outstanding individuals through a commitment to continuous improvement; and by providing exceptional results to every customer.
I’m Andrew Salois, the Operations Manager here at Sila Heating and Air Conditioning. In my position at this residential HVAC company, I oversee that all operations are running efficiently at all times.

Recommended Customer Reviews
We had Sila bid to repair to our system, and Sila recommended replacement which would have been quite a few thousand $. We also got another company to bid to repair the malfunctioning element for $750 and went with that - the system has been working well. Sila's proposal / replacing was outside of our budget, and wasn't necessary for us.
Horrible experience. Technician came for routine tune up and installed my humidifier filter incorrectly, so water dripped all over my HVAC system. Caused a part to stop working, in the middle of January. A repairman came and charged me over $800 to repair the part, but reinstalled the system incorrectly and caused a gas leak in my home. I had to called Eversource to come red tag my unit and had no heat in my home with infants for days. Finally Sila came and repaired my system properly, but offered me no recompense for my trouble. Their own emergency technician acknowledged they had messed up.
Sila's great! They only overcharged me by over $1,000 (at least) to replace a control board. $1800 bill for about a $600-700 job cause they knew they had me. True 'professionals'.
Had Dave Do A yearly checkup on my boiler and i asked a lot of questions besides him doing his job, and he was very knowledgable and took his time explaining and further recommendations on my system.....will most likely use Sila again
Sila installed this unit approx. seven years ago and provided a routine maintenance/service as recently as two months ago. No prior issues till now, when compressor suddenly stopped working. Tech showed up quickly, but then took an hour and forty five minutes and $260 just to tell us that we had two dead boards in the compressor. Didn't get back to us with an estimate on the boards for four more days (nearly $1200), and now the parts won't be available for at least a week, we still don't know what the additional labor will cost, and we don't know if the dead boards are all that is wrong. The compressor is not level and I believe that the the recent ""servicing"" permitted water to enter the electrical panel. But Sila doesn't care - they just want to waste our time and take our money. Use another company.
Shawn and Fitz were great, both as plumbers and as people. Friendly, professional, and experts at what they do. Which, in this case, was to install a backwater valve in the basement. Everything went smoothly...even the jackhammering was less noisy than I expected! Sila isn't cheap, but I always believe that you get what you pay for. And for something as important as preventing raw sewage from flooding your basement, I don't mind spending a few extra bucks to ensure I get the best.
M M.I'm taking the time because these folks were amazing, professional, and thorough. Starting with Sam who gave me the initial assessment and managed the whole project, the savvy yet strong men who installed the heavy equipment (crazy second floor install through bricks in the brutal heat), to the final electrician; all were top notch. The cost was less than other quotes, they did most of the paperwork to help me get a HEATLoan and rebate, and got me in ahead of schedule. I love my mini-splits, but I also loved the experience. These are now my plumbing and heating guys. I've been telling all my friends.
Never would recommend or use this company.
Installation technician recommended replacing air condition capacitor at a cost of $465.00. When we later researched we came to understand that the same part is widely available at a retail cost of between $30 and $50 dollars. We have repeatedly called Sila explained our concerns and requested someone in authority return our calls. To date we have yet to receive any response. Clearly they understand this was highway robbery and refuse to even discuss.
The air conditioning service is good. I scheduled a water heater maintenance service, waited the whole day and no one showed up. When I called the office, they told me the service personnel couldn't make it, period. No one bothered to call me that service person won't be able to come.
STAY AWAY!!! WILL TRY TO SCAM YOU!! My A/C broke and I called Sila. They sent a tech right away. He diagnosed the problem as a bad compressor. Then, he proceeded to tell me that Sila's policy is to not replace compressors. The only solution for me to buy a new system for $7,200! What a scam!!! I have a 4 year old Carrier system under warranty. Needless to say, I found a HVAC company that replaced the compressor for $1,600. SILA HAS BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES!!!
