Before Sila, Jack began his career working alongside his father, Steve Rothacker, at a company named Unique Indoor Comfort. With his father's mentorship, Jack assembled a remarkable team that grew their business into the Philadelphia region, transforming the family venture into a successful regional operation. In 2010, Jack established that business as an independent entity and renamed it Sila Heating & Air Conditioning.
Sila continues to embody its family business spirit, with Jack Rothacker lending his expertise and mentorship as an essential member of Sila's Board of Directors, despite its growth and success.
Our philosophy is straightforward. Our aim is to provide top-notch service by uplifting, empowering, and rewarding exceptional talent while embracing continuous improvement; and delivering superior outcomes to each customer.
I’m Andrew Salois, the Operations Manager here at Sila Heating and Air Conditioning. As a residential HVAC company, my responsibility is to guarantee that every aspect of our operations functions seamlessly.

I returned home after a month away and my heating wasn't working.
Sila sent a technician named Guy right away. Guy fixed the problem quietly and professionally, working for about an hour then let me know t what he has done and what the problem was. Excellent service from Guy!I should also mention that the woman who took my initial call and took care of the scheduling was extremely kind and understadning. (Lila or Nina? sorry, I do not exactly recall) Thank you Sila, it is a pleasure to be your clients!
Kate L.Don't recommend. They are a total racket. High pressure sales, inaccurate and incomplete quotes that don't get updated until the job is halfway done and there's no way to say no. I'm being charged $1350 for work I was originally told would cost under $200. Really poor business practices. They have done some decent work but I will not be using them again.
Update: they removed the extra charges, which I appreciate. However, I still feel that they try to pull one over on you whenever they can.
Watch out for this company. This was my experience with them. I needed a new pump for my condensing gas furnace. They sent a technician to install the pump and inspect the system. A few days later I heard a crash and when I went to the basement to look around I saw that the cover had fallen off my central humidifier. The technician had ""inspected"" the humidifier but had failed to turn it on and had evidently cracked the plastic cover. This cover had never fallen off the unit in 20 years. I called Sila and they sent someone out to have a look. After this they offered to buy me a new unit but wanted me to pay them to install it. I asked them to buy me the unit so I could have my husband install it but they refused to do this. They claimed the humidifier was functioning when they left, despite the fact that the technician had left the unit turned off and it is now held together with duct tape. Maybe this would have gone differently if I were a man and not an older woman. They are trying to make money off their mistake, on top of the $1,300 I paid them already to install the new pump. Since they charge a base fee of $195 just to come to your house, I imagine that they will charge me more than the $284 that it will cost me to buy a new unit from Amazon.
I want my $195 back for having been misled and almost duped!
A SILA technician just left my home after a $195 fifteen minute visit as my heat is not going on. Turned out to be the Blower needed replacing. I was quoted $1100-$1200 for the part, and told it was not worth it and I needed a new furnace. I asked if I should call Lowe's and was quickly told Sila would send a Project Manager the next day for the new furnace.
As soon as the technician left I looked up the cost of the Blower and ordered the unit: $236 and will have it tomorrow for a local guy to install - seven screws.
Very disappointing. Very.
I will report on this site (yelp) each week to update on refund status.
There is something to say about a trustworthy tradesman. I've used Sila plumbers, HVAC Techs even Electricians who have all performed the tasks with great precision and informative advice for prolonged sustainment. They not only fix the problem but look out for potential liabilities that may get you next!
These people are crooks. I had a furnace damaged in a power surge.
I called Sila to check it out, and they told me it would be $195 for the visit with an additional charge for every 15 minutes they were there.
I get a call that the control board was fried, but since the furnace was 22 years old, it was against company policy to work on it. The only thing they could do is replace the furnace AND air-conditioning units for $18,000 and change. I was then charged $285 for the vist.. I find it ridiculous that I'm being charged additional time for them to trouble shoot a furnace that, by company policy, they will not work on. I find this ridiculous that I was not told this policy over the phone. They first question when scheduling a visit should be ""How old is your system? Sorry, all we can do it replace the whole thing.""
These people robbed me of my money, and more importantly, time. This happened in October when I could live without the heat. If it happened in February I would have had to stay in a hotel for a week because I wasted time with them if I didn't succumb to their ridiculous prices and recommendation. Their new furnace prices seemed high- I would like to add in the review that I shopped around and found something cheaper, but I didn't. I called Frank's heating and air who completely fixed the problem in hours.
Sheryl F.Update to my review earlier this week. It's too bad I can't prove this but it appears that the guy who came out sabotaged our system. The Union sheet metal worker that was sent out found insulation BLOWN INTO A PIPE. It certainly didn't get there by itself!!!!!
As I said before STAY FAR AWAY FROM SILA FOR SERVICE IF YOUR A/C ISN'T WORKING!
Saroosh I.Sila sent a Rep to check why my AC conked off. They stated that they will come over and charge $90 for every 15 minutes. All they did was change the Capacitor. All the work was done in 35 minutes yet my bill was:
$200 for visit
$405 for Capacitor (similar one online cost $40)
$70 for some fees
-----
$675
Extremely disappointed and my AC is still not cooling.
This company sucks! Asked for $3000, and charged me $100 even though they didn't do anything. What a waste of time! Consumer beware!
Loyal Sila customer here they have installed complete AC systems in my homes and serviced my systems for the better part of 10 years. Recently my AC unit needed service I was charged 190 them to show up 90 dollars for diagnostic charges I knew about this a little high but ok. My tech was great diagnosed the issue in less than 10 min, replaced the part (capacitor) in less than 5 min all good great expect that i was charged 398 for a $12 part. It was explained that they charge for the service not the part, i am calling BS I was charged over $1300 per hour. I know the tech was 5 min from my house when I called, so estimating up let say 30 minute of travel and labor $12 for the part (retail) and my bill was $673 I feel ripped off, they have lost a customer forever and a customer that was( past tense a good referral.
