The WORST plumber I have ever used. I had an unexplained leak in my laundry room and called Sierra Plumbing when my ""usual plumber"" couldn't make it due to prior commitments. The technician struggled to find the source of the leak over a 4.5 hour period but with no luck. So, he and the owner, Mike, were to return on Wednesday (the day of the original appointment was Monday) to continue troubleshooting to find the leak. I was charged $637.00(!) for the first service call: $110 ""trip charge"" and then $110/hr for 4.5 hours of ""looking."" I called the owner, Mike, to express my displeasure at the ""surprise"" bill of $637.00 when he seemed to imply the initial charge would be a ""few hundred."" Wednesday rolls around and Mike calls me to explain that he won't be coming out after all because, well, he really hadn't planned on finishing the job but to determine if he could just find the leak. I asked ""Well, what is the cost going to be, he indicated anywhere from $1,500 to $3,000 because this leak is a 'mystery'"". I cancelled their return because I could see no sense in being ""taken"" for a few thousand dollars, so I took a heat gun, removed the vinyl floor planks and discovered the source of the leak. All I have to show for my $637 is two panels cut out of my drywall which, of course, I will repair as I wouldn't trust this company as far as I can throw them. I just hope my review saves others from being overcharged for non-performance. Consumer beware. If you must choose them, ensure you get a quote in writing, up front. Otherwise, be prepared to get charged at least twice the market rate.

I've depended on Sierra Plumbing forever since the property I manage at Bass Lake is more than 50 years old. Its water supply has more than a fair share of minerals, so I rely on Mike for regular water heater maintenance. This spring, his crew located and removed a tree root the size of a WWF wrestler's arm from the drain leaving the basement. By installing a pop-up clean out OUTSIDE, I'll never have sewage backing into the house again. Reliable, on time, returns calls, fair pricing.

I called Sierra Plumbing this morning to see about getting my water heater replaced and was told they could get to it this next week. About an hour later Mike called me back and said they could probably get it done this afternoon. They showed up before 2:00 PM and replaced the water heater and hauled off the leftovers. We have had a couple of jobs done by Mike and his team at Sierra plumbing and have been thoroughly satisfied with everything he has done. We had a tankless water heater put in a couple of years ago and it is fabulous. We have never had any problems with it and it works like a charm. He recently re-piped our whole house and everything went smoothly. He is a meticulous professional and we will have him do all plumbing jobs that come up in the future. I totally agree with the previous reviewer about not being able to find anyone professional here in the mountains. We have had other companies show up here to give us bids on jobs and these are not people that I would want to have working in my home. I am so happy that there is somebody that we can rely on and will show up and be professional.

Finding a good contractor in the hills is, well, let's say ""challenging."" I've had some pretty interesting experiences with local folks, but it's always a nice surprise when a contractor turns out to be professional, knowledgeable, and just gets the job done. Mike will be doing all my plumbing from now on. His prices are fair (unlike other large plumbing companies in Oakhurst) and he does quality work. I highly recommend him.
