Recommended Customer Reviews

Very quiet, courteous, on time, clean and did an excellent job. Thanks.

I have been thoroughly pleased with the customer, installation, and preventive maintenance services I've received from Shumate Mechanical over the past 18 years. When I purchased my property, the previous owners informed me they had a PM contract with Shumate. I continued to maintain the PM contract with them as well. The furnace lasted 26 years before it needed replacing. The also replaced my hot water heater and converted it from gas to electric. Their installs are neat and seamless to the property owner. And, the installers are professional. They leave your property neat and clean.

I have listened to Sandy Shumate over and over on her radio ads and she has no clue as to what her phone people say when asked about HER """"24 hour response time"""" promise. I called and told them my problem with my AC - the guy on the phone from Shumate said they could """"work me in in about 5 days"""". I asked about Sandy's """"promise"""" of 24 hour response time. He said that was only for their customers who had a service contract with them (no where in HER ads does she mention this). I told him about the ad - his reply was, well, she may have said that, but I'm telling you that you ain't getting seen until at least 5 days from now"""" So much for Sandy and he dad's way of doing business!

Could not be more pleased with my first experience with Shumate. While a competitor had me on a 2 week standby appointment, they got me in within 2 days (which is something as it's 96 degrees out and everybody is having issues). The price was miraculous and the technician, Jeff Chapman, was a pleasant and knowledgeable man who despite what I can only imagine was a long day, was still smiling when he got to my house at 5pm on a Monday. I signed up for the maintenance plan and could not be happier!! Thanks Shumate!!

Shumate has always provided me with excellent, extremely responsive service. Their technicians are always professional. I would recommend Shumate to everyone!

I'm not one to post and recommend services, but this is one that I feel needs to be shared. Our heat pump compressor died last November (only six years old, one year out of warranty), and we had to replace. We had four companies come out (Cool Air, Cool Ray, Estes, and Shumate). Our salesman, Shaun Hoover, from Shumate was by far the best! No matter how many questions (there were many and hours on the phone) he showed no sign of irritation but was very through and patient with us. Shaun did not pressure us in any way to make a decision. His quotes were detailed and there was no doubt as to what you are buying. Shaun is professional and we felt comfortable working with him. Shaun was hands on even with our install, which was flawless and only took three hours. The install crew arrived at 8am on the dot and was done by 11am. Also, Shaun was helpful in getting us rebates with Georgia Power which equalled $200. Our HVAC works wonderfully and we are very happy with the price, quality of product, and service. The contact information for our sales rep is: Shumate Shaun Hoover [email protected] (404) 886-5582

ENTER THE SHUMATE SHOWMAN! I scheduled an appointment to have a sales associate/technician come out and give an estimate regarding our dysfunctional air conditioning system. The appointment was for 2pm which was a precise time and not a window of time. Shortly after 1pm, I received a call from the technician stating that he was available and could come straight away if I was agreeable. This was okay because it was a benefit to me to just get it done earlier. This is noteworthy because not everyone is able to be flexible because of work or other responsibilities. I don't know what was communicated to him by his office, perhaps HE was given a window of time. Just know that technicians always want to come earlier than agreed because they are running a tight schedule and don't want to be hanging around for an hour and a half waiting for that next appointment. If your time is tighter just make sure that you mention this during your initial contact and when you get the call confirming the time just mention that you need to stick to the scheduled time due to time constraints. Chris arrives and we talk about the problems we are having with our cooling system and what we are needing at this point. It is good to know something about the systems that are available, (Trane vs. Lenox) because this could be a deciding factor when selecting a service provider as they represent different manufacturers. Although we are concerned about both units, he advises us that we should it evaluated by one of their technicians, (different department), and their service call is approximately $90. Chris should get an award for being able to """"keep up with me"""". He was patient and """"hung"""" in there. I had been up since 4am and by 1:30 I still had not eaten anything. The day just got away from me so I was """"all over the place"""". Chris had no problem repeating information and it was helpful that as he was talking he was actually showing me the specific areas that needed to be upgraded, (this was consistent with the prior estimate). After Chris prepares his estimate, he doesn't just give me the folder and leave, he actually goes through his findings and explains the estimate. I really appreciated that he gave me options with an explanation, (the basic vs higher end system and their differences). As he is going over the information, I notice that he has highlighted key information which is very helpful, (because remember I am """"going down fast"""" and my comprehension as this point is probably at 20%. I appreciated getting some specific information about the Lenox systems because this will give me something to work with as I go forward with my research. I did not get this with my prior estimate. The estimate provided is very thorough and will give me a lot to consider. I refer to Chris as the """"Shumate Showman"""" because he didn't just give an estimate, he gave a thorough and passionate presentation. He provided great information and education. He also put on shoe covers prior to entering my home which was appreciated. Details definitely matter to me. For his presentation alone, (physical and oral) he deserves five stars. Dear Shumate, What's with this business card? Chris deserves a much better card It should be on quality stock paper with his title and the physical address of the business included. His name should clearly be framed in LED lights. (Remember, details matter!) Thanks

As a rule, I've been pleased with Shumate, but I have a problem with them. I get my 2 units serviced twice a year. Once for the furnace, and once for the A/C. I have a service contract. I've been having a problem with my furnace. It lights, but the burner turns off within 10 seconds. To keep this short, the problem was the flame sensor getting carbon deposits on it...cleaning it with a little quad steel wool and all was well. It seems to me this is something that they should have checked when it was serviced (and no it wont get that much crap on it in one season). If not for YouTube and helpful instructions...I'd have been out of pocket for a service call for something that should have been caught by them initially during routine service

I do not write reviews but I had to base on my personal knowledge and experience with this company. My AC was struck by lightning in 2012. I contacted several HVAC companies in the area to price and install my unit, but decided to select This Company base on prior reviews and expected install date of the unit. Where do I begin, after the unit was installed, not even a week later, I had to call them back out to service the brand new unit (really - you just installed it)! When their service technician arrived to fix the issue he advised me the wiring was done incorrectly. I said to myself """"I paid you guys several thousands of dollars to install my unit, so it better be working PERIOD""""!!! The issue was resolved temporary (I Guess), because since then I have been having nothing but problem after problem out of this unit. They kept coming back to my home to service or look at THEIR unprofessional installation and workmanship. They had the nerves to charge me for service calls and refer me to collection for refusal to pay (what an insult). I mean really I just paid you guys $$$$. Let's move ahead, it is now February 5, 2015. The unit that was installed less than 3 years ago suddenly stopped working. Dissatisfied with This Company, I decided not to call them and just have another person or company take a look at it and give me an unbiased assessment of the issue with this unit. Being an educated consumer, I contacted the manufacturer of this unit directly to get some background and to ask for their authorized dealers or service technicians in my area. Luckily for me, the unit is still under warranty. I was beginning to think with all these issues since April 2012, I may have a bad unit. I found out today through an authorized dealer the reason for all the issues I am having with my unit. The service technician advised me the wiring was done incorrectly and I need to replace the control board (the computer). Now remember one week after this unit was installed it stop working and I called This Company back to my home and the service technician advise me the wiring was done incorrectly and after repeated visits to my home (I thought it was done correctly) """"NOT"""". Why it wasn't done correctly is a mystery to me, but more importantly why my calls to this company regarding this issue went unanswered is the biggest problem here. They kept sending out in my OWN opinion inexperience Technicians. These service calls only resulted in some kind of temporary fix and or a sales person notifying me to advise me, I need to have additional expense work done. Do you homework and partially have some kind of understanding about what's going on....in my case I am not a licensed HVAC technician by trade nor do I have any direct knowledge of such, so when I called the company to advise my system was struck by lightning why didn't your sales Rep., include in his quote all the components necessary to make my unit function as before without issue. (That would include the computers that is necessary to operate the system or YEAH and the WIRING) lightning can travel and destroy wiring and computers (duh). As it turns out, I had to pay for a new computer, since this was not replaced when they took the OLD UNIT away. I also had to pay for wiring, since as you may know it was damaged during the strike. Needless to say, three years later and several hundred dollars later, it is finally done right...NO THANKS TO THIS COMPANY!!! If a system is struck by lightning, it is safe to say you should be quoting to the homeowner the possibility of replacing any component electrically tied to said unit (Am just saying). The nightmare is over my unit is finally functioning at 100% or better since I replaced the computer board and wiring. This review is to make others aware of the type of customer service and installation workmanship you can expect from a large HVAC company after they take your money, they do not listen and or correct their mistakes. I hired a repair man with tons of experience, he was honest prompt and provided me with the service I needed on 2/7/2015. My family and I are warm, happy and looking forward to a system that is free of issues or problems for many years to come. I would have given them Zero stars, but that option isn't available! They got One Star too many!!

Your guys are always great. curtious, professional and tidy. I've seen more of them this year than most years due to things breaking around the house. The only suggestion I have is that when they come for the twice a year maintenance that they point out things I might need to address, such as the duct work that was recently replaced. I think it has been in bad shape for quite some time but it took the cable guy to point it out. All in all though, I couldn't be happier with the service from Shumate.
