I called shumate Duluth to fix my mini split air-conditioning unit for the room above my garage. The technician came to the house looked at the unit and told me instantly it needs a new compressor He also immediately stated it would not be worthwhile due to the cost and suggested for me to talk to their """"engineer"""". Well the engineer, Shaun Hoover ended up being a sales person from shumate that wanted to sell me a new mini slip unit for $3500, the compressor would cost $2000. I told him no thank you and got a second opinion. The new ac guy took 10 min to diagnose, charged me $68, added 1 lb of Freon and my unit was fixed. I was perplexed! My unit was in perfect working order! I called shumate to ask for my $89 service charge back and talked to Matt Hoover who seemed to be the owner. He asked for proof of misdiagnosis, and I sent him the invoice from the other company and he told me I would get my money back. I never received a credit and Matt stopped responding to my emails. Obviously Shaun and Matt are related and this company is running a scheme overcharging unsuspecting clients by misdiagnosing and selling new equipment instead of doing a simple repair. I just want to warn people of shumate's unethical practices. This could have cost me thousands. And I know it was deliberate and not an accidental mishap. I will never use shumate again.

Needed service on the unit they installed 7 years ago. The unit was low on charge and had a leak in the Coil. These coils were the subject of a class action law suit if replaced in 5 years, so not surprising that I would have a problem. The unit is a higher end model and has a big sign on it that says 10 year warranty. The first thing they told me was that since I didn't have an annual service agreement they wouldn't honor the warranty unless I could produce receipts for annual service from other HVAC service providers. I had two other companies say they would contact Lennox to get the part under warranty regardless of the service agreement As it turns out Shumate didn't register the unit when they installed it and that shortened the warranty to 5 years instead of 10. I'm replacing another unit in the house and having this one repaired by one of the other companies that tried to help me after Shumate let me down. On the plus side, the Shumate install was top notch, just let down by the home office that should have registered it and the service department policies.

Very nice and professional however, either the product or installation of our two units was poor. 2nd evaporator coil that has gone bad in the 5 years we have owned the two Lennox units. We have had the maintenance contract since the beginning but the services fees over and above the maintenance costs have been substantial. The service folks seem to point fingers at the previous tech's for poor installation. Very disappointed...

We have lived in the Atlanta area for over 25 years. Until we discovered Shumate, we'd been through 4 different HVAC companies. All disappointing. Shumate has been excellent. Service has always been timely, polite and fairly priced. Everyone has been wonderful. And we have used their new plumbing and electrical services! What a relief to know exactly who to call whenever we need help. Thank you Shumate.

Let me start off by saying, Jennifer is fantastic. She is very helpful and kind. The one star in this review is for her patience and professionalism. She is, solely, the ONLY good aspect of my experience with this company. Michael and Matt, the supervisors, DO NOT ANSWER their office phones at ANY point throughout the day. Not do they return phone call even after leaving NUMEROUS messages. I have a warranty on my Lenox, which was confirmed by the fantastic tech who came out to my house to service the system. Previously, all the system's parts have been covered whenever they were serviced. After the technician's departure, I received a bill for the part that was confirmed under warranty. Slimy move. I called the office and Jennifer confirmed that the part should have been covered even though Matt or Michael sent over a bill. I would have NEVER decided to service the part if it was not covered under my warranty. BEWARE of this penny pinching, unprofessional company. ****Side note: I have ALWAYS payed my bills onsite and never disputed a bill before this scam.

No show on appointment, despite the company calling me twice prior to the appointment to confirm visit. I had to call Shumate and find out what was going on. The representative just said their scheduling system was messed and offered no remedy. (That must be a lie because I received two confirmation calls prior to the appointment.) Don't use Shumate if you need someone to show up when scheduled.

Quoted me 1600.00, showed up and wanted 2500.00. Mark these guys off your list for sure!

Service is not good and they charge above the average. They have two different prices , regular and weekend. If you ask for service on weekend, pretty much you will pay more than it costs . Two hours service and will be charged three hours. Not recommended!!

This company advertises on NPR (daily listener) so I hired them to service my HVAC as I was selling the property and I wanted to get an idea of the condition of my unit. They squeezed me into an 8:00 AM slot on a weekday morning. Glad they could accommodate but they sent the worst technician. Jaydon S. was clearly recovering from an opioid binge and could hardly string two sentences together. He attached gauges to my system to tell me I had a leak and needed Freon but my system was to old (1997) and my only option was replacement. During the buyer inspection it was noted that the sediment trap at the turn of the gas supply line was improperly installed and a missing cap on the air handler condensation drain line is allowing the escape of conditioned air. These are precisely the two issues that Shumate should have diagnosed during my tune-up/ inspection. Later that day I received a call from Shumate asking if I wanted to schedule an engineer to visit the home to determine the best replacement unit for my home. No thanks! The unit blows hot/cold for 22 years without a problem and I purchased a home warranty for $600.

Dont believe what you read in their ad.they answer the phones 24/7 but same day service and emergency weekend service is just false advertising.no appointment time set just a round about next day early afternoon time given.28 hours later and no courtesy call to update,I called them to see if they were still coming?????tech arrived after 7pm no 30 min call prior to arrival.no discussion on what was wrong or how much it would be prior to fixing the unit.part was put in, unit was fixed and was told the $$ .no conversation . 0 of 3 advertised company statements were fulfilled.Yes my AC was repaired in the end but any of the other Companies listed could have achieved this.I chose them based on their Company's Statement of Service commitment in their ad.My Bad
