David Daniels came for an emergency call on Monday June 16 with a plumbing leak in our building. He arrived at 10:30pm and initially showed promise on diagnosing a clog in the building vertical line. He retrieved a 27 foot snake to remove the clog, and pushed it through. However, he dropped his snake into our plumbing system, claimed it would ""be ok to leave it there,"" then insisted on immediate payment, and left our building. He said he would return at 1Pm the next day to help further diagnose any issues and remediate the toilet (which he had left removed). Not only did he never return the next day; but he would not return phone calls or messages. Eventually I managed to reach him and he claimed (at first) to have been hospitalized, then claimed he ""cracked"" his wrist falling from a ladder. He said he would reach back out and work with us once he healed, but on over 8 phone call attempts to Ship Shape Handyman, we have been unable to reach him or anyone in the business. We now are concerned this is a fraudulent business and he is not an actually licensed plumber. We now have to pay over $3,000 to have the snake removed from our plumbing line due to his egregious error.

Do not work with Chadwick Daniel Garrett as he will steal your money. We reached out to Daniel (what he goes by) to take a look at some issues that came up in our home inspection and install a new dishwasher. At our initial consult, he made a couple of quick fixes and then placed an order for the remaining materials as well as for the new dishwasher. We paid for the materials and then made an appointment for the following Friday to complete the rest of the fixes and install the dishwasher. The night before the follow up he called me and said that his girlfriend had to undergo emergency surgery so he would be flying out to Houston immediately. He assured me that he would have to be back on Monday and so he would complete the rest of the fixes then. We have not heard from him since. Initially, we gave him some space given his ""girlfriend's"" ""diagnosis,"" but after a couple of weeks with no response through phone or email it is clear that this was all part of the scam. We looked him up and he has repeatedly opened and then dissolved LLCs, presumably as his scams were made public. His last LLC, Cleaning and Maintenance of IL, has been flagged by the Better Business Bureau for similar scams. He also has had multiple larceny charges and arrests. All told, AVOID THIS MAN AND COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

Great customer service, honest pricing, responsive, and respectful.

We reached out to Daniel to have a faucet installed for us. He proceeded to tackle that AND an unexpected snafu, seamlessly.

First, Daniel responded within 5 minutes of my text and was able to come the next day. He was respectful of our time and even showed up a little early!

I was sick the day of, so I asked Daniel to work directly with my tenant, which he graciously did.
As he was installing the faucet, he found that the connector for the hot water supply line had become corroded and needed to be replaced. He quoted me a price and I asked him to proceed with the repair.

As happens in old houses (mine was built in 1902), the repair wasn't nearly as straightforward as it should have been. Daniel was not deterred, though. He ended up going to a bunch of different hardware shops to find the specialty piece needed to adapt the old piping with the new materials. It took longer than expected, so I assumed the price was going to skyrocket. It did not.

Not only did the price not skyrocket, Daniel offered to take a half hour of his time off to keep the price down. I of course said absolutely not BECAUSE PEOPLE SHOULD ALWAYS BE PAID FOR THEIR TIME, whether we expected the extra time or not. He did the work, he should be paid for the work.

The service was just completed, so I can't speak to how well it'll hold up. That said, I have zero concerns looking forward. I will 100% be calling Daniel for all future handyman needs.
