I cannot speak to the quality of the work because it did not happen.

He is a friendly person over the phone and we agreed to a set date/time and cost (with his desire to increase due to the cost for parts, and my work requires a receipt). I asked how long would it take, because I need to write a notification for the tenants. I was told from 9am to 12noon.

I text him the day before to confirm and got an ok. I called at 9:15 to apologize for running a little late. I was told that he was busy and is not on the way. I asked when he would be arriving and he refused to give a set time and I further ask and he refused to give an approximate time. Waiting 2 hours and then tried calling his cellphone 2 times without a response to find out his arrival time. With about 40 minutes till 12 noon and not able to get a hold of him I messaged him that I was not able to get a hold of him and that I was leaving. I got a message back that he had until 12 noon to get there.

If you choose to work with this person then I would suggest getting a fixed time (to the very minute of arrival) and price (without changing).

I, on the other hand, will refuse to work with this company again. There are other plumbers who want to do the job.

Interesting how I stumbled across this plumber. An acquaintance of mine recommended his Uncle for some plumbing work I needed to be looked at as a contractor I hired to remodel our bathrooms, royally fucked up my bathrooms. I spoke to Richard to whom I explained what I needed and I informed Richard that I was not in an immediate rush but needed someone to look at it since I cannot use my downstairs bathroom due to a leak coming from the upstairs bathroom. After not hearing from Richard for 3 days, I send a text to him and he tells me he is out of town until Monday evening. I got a VM from Richard at 8:30 asking if it was ok to stop by as he was at the Mexico/San Diego border, which is a couple of hours away. I usually go to bed at around 8pm so I did not get his message until the next day. He sends a message the next day saying he may stop by that evening. That was 5 days ago and I have not heard back. Before you say that this was a favor to an acquaintance, I agreed to him charging me $150 for the call out fee, so no favors there. Frankly, he could be the best plumber in the world, but I'll never know.....he needs to learn how to run a business if he wants to run a business. And keep or, well, get customers.....
