Joyce C.We had a complete dormer put on our house. The entire process from estimate to completion was unbelievably wonderful. From Denny, to project manager, Jessica, and all the workers that came, we could not be more pleased. Everyone who has seen the completed project is amazed at how beautiful it is . Thank you Shells for a job WELL DONE!!
Shells only recently did a dormer for me and I honestly have nothing but absolutely amazing things to say about them. The constant communication, attention to detail and respect throughout the entire process was amazing. Our project manager Jessica was absolutely fantastic, I HIGHLY recommend her to everyone considering a job with Shells. I would 100% use them again in the future.
Kristy J.Our experience with Shells Only from start to finish has been nothing but pleasant. From choosing fixtures, from their showroom, up to the completion of the job. We had a major renovation done where we demolish the entire 2nd floor, new roof, shell and central air. Everyone from the office to the crews that they sent here every week has been on time, cleaned up after themselves and they were professional and courteous. Denny is fantastic and was on top of everything. He came in twice a week to ensure work was properly done and to check up on the progression. We start our project the 1st week of January and we are officially done as of today April 29th...they did however completed the entire 2nd floor before spring break and that was awesome! We started demolition for the 1st Fl bathroom on 4/9th...My husband & the boys are over the moon with the outcome and are very happy. We will be using them again most definitely...for my KITCHEN!!
Marcy L.Buyer beware. Wanted to add a garage to my property...they knew the dimensions and what the town would allow and of course, the project was not allowed by the town, but they were happy to keep my money. Didn't show any bills or how it was expensed! Stay away from this company!
If you live in Suffolk and Ken is your salesperson, just yell a random number, leave your home, and get angry about asking questions when you are spending between 35 and 80 thousand dollars. Sales manager was no help whatsoever. Moving on because Ken ""doesn't have time to answer my emails"".
My location is Sound Beach when you go to look through records to deny this is accurate, like every other person that said something negative. If needed, sales manager has the emails.
Victor S.I would say terrible experience from the start but everything went perfectly smooth until the paperwork was signed for payment... then the problems begin...i was quoted 6 weeks to completion... more than 6 months later i was still not finished... i was promised that my project would be done before the holidays ... but low and behold there was a 40 yd dumpster taking up my whole yard straight through the holiday season. My main concern was dust and debris in the house because at the time we had a new born baby in the house, supervisor told me ""dont worry this whole area will be sealed off with plastic""... never once through this long painful process did they hang even one piece of plastic..not once. One day i had called my job supervisor to find out if the workers would be there the next morning, he told me that they were working on other jobs and would not be back to my home for a few days, well the next morning at about 6:30 am(still dark) my wife was on her way to the bathroom in her pajamas when she encountered a strange man standing in the hallway holding a hammer in the dark... terrified ...not even a knock on the door ..he had simply climbed the ladder into the open unfinished dormer that they were building and began working... he was apparently misinformed on where he was working that day , she was terrified considering ryan had told us that no one should be there..... the only response he had for me when i called to notify them that the worker was there was ""oh dam, she must of gotten the scare of her life"" while laughing, this was a dangerous situation, had i been home someone could've gotten seriously hurt or worse. the job materials sat untouched on my lawn for weeks to the point where people were just stealing the lumber from my front yard. my ""job supervisor"" who claimed to have so much experience wouldnt even give out his phone number... always calls from private number..any time i had a problem(which was quite often) id have to call the office who would then call him and leave a message then never get back to me for weeks at a time. the workmanship in the framing is god awful ....literally not 1 square corner on the whole project.... my project manager fought me tooth and nail saying that the crooked walls were a result of the house not being square... when i pointed out that all of the unsqaured walls were put up by his crew his only response was ""hey what do you want me to tell you , hard working americans just dont wanna work anymore so this is what we get"".... are you kidding me!!!... closet doors dont fit...unspackeled nails...they never repaired walls damaged by their workers... the only decent experience i had with this company was the gentleman that sold me the job and subcontracted plumbers and electricians who even expressed their dislike for doing work for shells... shells attempted to make it right by hanging 2 prehung doors for me at no cost but their shotty workmanship shines through again... terrible .. definitely wont be using them again. The work was ""completed"" over a year and a half ago however i felt the need to post this review because im now putting new moulding in the bedrooms and the walls are so out of square it's impossible to get the right angle

Sonja B.Great company! They have fantastic customer support and service. We called with a project and they got back to us the same day. Quality workmanship too! The crew was courteous, respectful and always cleaned up when they went home at the end of the day. All in all we are very happy with Shells Only! Highly recommend!!!!!
Doreen B.We used Shell Only for 2 large home renovations. While our foreman, Denny, and his team were excellent, the quality of the product was not. Particularly the laminate flooring that was used throughout our house during the second renovation. At the time we chose the cabinets, windows and fixtures we were also asked to choose the color of the floor. We live in a Levit home on a concrete slab and had a wonderful PERGO floor prior to this. So we were expecting no less. What we got was a terrible product right from the beginning. We trusted Shells and if they told us to choose a different floor we would have. The floor pulled apart and showed bumps from the cement underneath. Shells came and tried to nail it down. My family and I have to live with this floor. Shells never did the right thing by us, which would have been to refund the cost of the floor in this part of the house or replace it. I would not recommend this company because they do not stand by there work and do not have the character or professionalism to make things right.
Horrible company! They just totally botched my basement that I wanted to completely make into an apartment!
I want to start this review by saying I used these guys back in 2014 after doing much research and having several quotes to add a 14'x26' addition to the back of my home. Initially I was very nervous as I had never as a homeowner taken on any type of construction project. My initial consultation was very informative and I was able to meet with the owner Dennis which gave me more confidence to proceed as their quote was significantly more palatable then Allure, Great Additions etc. So to make a long story short they held my hand and walked me through the whole process. Results were excellent. Exactly as proscribed. FYI 2 years later I had an issue with my tile in my bathroom. Quick call and they came in and fixed the discolored tile by replacing them. So hear we are in 2018 my two sons don't get along so I am on the hook to make my one story addition into a 2 story addition. Stopped by their showroom in Babylon off Sunrise Highway looking for Denny who was my job foreman on the previous job. Instead I bumped into Angelo a very competent contemporary . I explained my needs and he was quick to help me design my upstairs extension. The beauty about this company is they handle the whole process from idea to completion (including architect). Luckily I was able to have Denny as my job foreman again. (I requested him). He was the consummate professional and over the whole process he became a family friend. So my 2 sons are not fighting anymore and my wife is less stressed. Life is good. Bottom line these guys are the real deal. P.S, I have to give a shout out to my finishing carpenter Jason he has to be the best craftsman I have ever met. He is the wood whisperer!
