Chad Z.These guys are great! Office staff is responsive and always available, field staff knows their stuff and works quickly, and Michael Penta is honest and hardworking. I'd say this is a good ol' fashioned family business.
I've been having them work on my septic systems monthly to get a neglected problem under control. They're great at coming up with solutions and even replaced my septic covers and access plates free of charge.
I definitely recommend this company!
Bahar S.Wow! This company really took care of business. Our septic tanks were about to overflow and we are in quarantine so we were in a bind. Our driveway is really narrow so only a small truck can come up the driveway to access the septic tanks. I called and messaged a handful of company and this company called me back immediately. They sent someone over to check out the driveway Within a few hours and the next morning they sent a small truck to pump the tanks. By noon the next morning our dire situation was completely alleviated. I'm so grateful for their fast, efficient and quality work.
Bec S.Beware this company. Sorry but Michael and his company were not good at the job. I know that now because I had to get a company that actually knows what they are doing (Gopher Construction) to fix an ongoing problem that Michael was not able to fix, did not understand and in fact made worse. That didn't stop him charging me thousands of dollars while he tried out different things. I now have my leaking septic tank fixed but only because Gopher Construction fixed it. Michael was entirely unable to and I kept having to pay for pumps as the problem got worse, and more work in an effort to fix the problem, when he should have just admitted he didn't understand what was wrong. He did give me one complimentary pump to make up for what was happening, but he still charged thousands for all his trial and error before I had to conclude he just didn't know what he was doing when it came to my septic tank. He also insists all communications go through his office for the most part which is very frustrating: you want to be able to talk to the actual expert when you're experiencing a major problem. I'd strongly warn homeowners against using this company.
UPDATE: Michael's company offered me money to remove this review. It was not the cost of the work, or even close. He asked what the other company had done in a voicemail message to me. I had moved on so did not call back. After that - as is normal for this company - I heard from his office. Not Michael. Offering a low ball amount of money to remove the review ($500). Then when I said that was not at all interesting to me to remove this review, as it would not start to make it right, they offered $1000. This is less than a third of what I paid. And they had worsened the problem. Would I have liked $1000? Yes. But I cannot take money when I know there is just a bad company out there. I don't put up Yelp reviews often and I have to be really happy or really disgruntled to do so. It also bothers me that Michael has set up on Yelp under various company names, so he can avoid poor reviews. I think that says it all.
Best services. I recommend 100 percent! Always available the same day. Really like that they take credit card.
Michael Penta came and pumped my septic tank, they were extremely friendly, professional & answered all my questions. I will definitely call them for my next service.
Merrill S.A remarkable experience! Michael Penta is the only plumber I've ever met who really understands urban sewage ejector systems. (An unfortunate part of living in the hills.) He diagnosed, and repaired problems no one had noticed before. I am very impressed! And the truck he shows up in is Star Trek ready! (PS: Vicki rocks!)
I have a house in urban LA with a septic. I have never had any problems. But putting the house up for sale and needed it pumped and inspected. Long story short we had to replace the tank so it could be certified. We have had some delays due to weather and the need to relevel the driveway to put in a new driveway. Mike the owner is an incredible person. He is busy and has an awesome office manager Vicki that do their best to understand your concerns and make it right. We had few miscommunications but more due to weather and that I am busy as they are. I HIGHLY recommend Mike for your septic needs. He is a very ethical and knowledgeable person. Thank you Mike! Michele L.
I was getting ready to put my house on the market in August and my broker recommended having the septic tank certified before listing the house. It's a REALLY long story but this company is FANTASTIC!!! Mike did an inspection to certify my septic tank. Though the tank was working, it was small and I opted to put in a larger tank before listing the house. Mike (and Vickie in the office) worked like crazy to schedule and get the new tank put in ASAP so I could get the house listed. They were professional and GREAT at communicating and getting back to me whenever I had questions. I expected to have to be out of the house while they were changing over the tanks but didn't even have to do that. I was never left without use of the plumbing! They didn't ""nickel and dime"" me for every aspect of the job as other companies do. In fact, they did everything they could to give me the best price possible! Mike and his crew cleaned everything up really well and even re-sodded over the area of the new tank. They truly are as good as it gets! AND THEY'RE SUPER NICE!!!
Geoff F.Michael is exceptionally knowledgeable and worked with us patiently and purposefully when diagnosing a potential septic issue. Not only did he help us diagnose the problem, he answered some other sewer questions that were not at all related to our problem. From setting up the appointment to the moment Mike left it was a pleasure working with this business.
Marti R.We were in the due diligence period of buying a house with a septic tank. We called Michael Penta because of his great ratings on Yelp. We asked for the price to inspect the tank and were quoted between $275 and $500 depending on what level of work needed to be done. We agreed to the charge, signed the appropriate paperwork and scheduled the appointment. They were able to give us an appointment within a few days which was appreciated since we were on a timeline crunch. Sadly, the workers arrived and could not locate the septic tank. They climbed up on the tile roof (without permission which would not have been granted due to the delicate nature of tile roofs) to try to locate the tank via the vent. No luck. They claimed that they went through some clean outs to help locate it but when we hired someone else to locate it, found all the cleanouts frozen shut. This left us to wonder which one they could have opened. They said they needed to put a $700 clean out in in order to find it and service it properly. This is confusing to me, and I own my ignorance of septic tank systems, but wonder how they put a clean out onto a septic tank they can't seem to find. We declined this suggestion since we didn't own the property yet and that seems like the kind of money you'd spend on something you already own. A few days later we were shocked to find a $275 charge on the credit card. We knew there would be some sort of show up fee but the low end price of having actually DONE SOMETHING? We called to discuss our disappointment in the high charge and were met with a defensive girl answering the phone who seemed a bit put out but agreed to ask the owner about a partial refund since no work was actually done. We managed to get some of it credited back ($100) when we told them we were buying the property and still needed it serviced and would not use their service if the charge remained at $275. I am unable to speak about the quality of work they perform. But I am able to feel disappointment in their charge, to the tune of $175 for a questionable amount of ""work"" done on site. If they had even offered to apply that exorbitant charge toward future work I may have been likely to use their service again. Now I don't really trust them as being an honest business. I might have even called on them again if they had dropped the charge to $125 or $150. We understood that the minimum charge for work performed was $275 and we agreed to that. I guess it's the definition of ""work"" that we don't see eye-to-eye on.
