Terrible ruined my yard then tried to blame my neighbor boy who was potting flowers in planters not in the yard.
Sprinkler ran for 10 hours no one would call me back then said it would be 2 weeks before they could come back out. Finally hung up as the owner was so disrespectful and blaming everyone but his team who had clearly caused the problem.
I will never use them again.
Is all I wanted was for them to rectify the issue.
Sewell Irrigation came to my house and solved my problems immediately, the way they handled my lawn was amazing, within almost a week they had my sprinkler system up and running. I admit sometimes they can't answer your calls. (Mostly due to the fact hey get over 5 customers a day) My overall experience with Sewell irrigation is that they are a fun-loving business and will get the job done.
Warning: there is no live person when you call, you just have to leave voicemails and hope to get a call possibly after days to a week from the unfriendly owner Mark Sewell. Thinking perhaps it was the busy season, I gave them many chances as we had a multi step project needing irrigation in a few weeks time after grading and seeding the backyard and thought from the good reviews on Angies list (which I now seriously doubt the legitimacy of some of them), we thought they could handle it professionally. Other companies promptly responded they were busy so I left Sewell several vms after he finally left a vm they would be available when we needed, and to just to give him a call a day or 2 ahead. So I felt reassured this would be done. However, despite multiple phone calls for nearly a week right before we absolutely needed them and no response, he finally called back because I texted him that we had to have an answer and I could no longer recommend him if he did not reply. When I asked why it took so long to call back, he became defensive, rude and hung up. I am a small business owner and understand one can get busy, but all we wanted were basic customer service with calls promptly returned and follow through with what was promised when we were in a time crunch. Perhaps he has so much business he doesn't care, but I was shocked by someone so rude and unprofessional. I'd rather work with a company that cares and delivers courteous and reliable customer service.
If you want a contractor that is terrible at communication and never responds to emails, texts, or phone calls and then ghost you on the day of the project, then call the family that runs Sewell Irrigation.
We got a quote from Sewell for an irrigation system and drainage system in late March. We were told by Mark Sewell that the project could start in June as they are busy opening up systems and helping existing customers. We were instructed to get the plumbing work completed (which we did) and address some grading issues in the yard (which we did with 36 yards of dirt) and let them know when that was completed so they could get us scheduled.
Understanding that it's a weird time during the pandemic, and as we came up on June, we wanted to get an idea on timing and tried to get ahold of Sewell for a status. No response. Throughout the month of June we would call, email and text without a response. At least 10 attempts to contact were left without a call back. Then last week, after we thought they just wrote us off, we got an email that said they were coming out on the 6th. We had 811 come out and mark all the utilities but Sewell never showed up to do the job and hasn't responded since.
This seems to be the status quo from Sewell. Talking with others, you'll hear that their communication is terrible and that they don't follow up on repeated inquiries. If you value communication from your contractor partners, go find another contractor because Sewell will drive you nuts.
Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Stay away from this company. They never return phone calls. You must keep calling and hope you are lucky enough that they answer the phone when you call. I hired this company to winterize several irrigation systems. After 3 to 4 phone call a week over a 4 week period, Mark (the owner) finally answered the phone when I called. He informed me none of them had been done and that he wasn't going to do them. This was after the temperatures dropped below freezing. He had ample opportunity to call me to let me know, but chose not to. He was very rude and unprofessional.
Brad W.Sewell installed a full irrigation system last fall. Part of the installation service is 3 years of maintenance (including turning the system on in the spring, and winterizing in the fall). They have not responded or handled this service.
Secondly, my neighbors system had damage that was caused during my installation. While this was simply an accident, I contacted Sewell over 20+ times via email/voicemail to allow Sewell the chance to fix right away in May 2019, but these calls have gone unanswered. This cost me $478 out of pocket.
Finally, I had a large increase to my water bill. In investigating, the City of Columbus did not have the irrigation system / back flow unit on record (which is Sewell's responsibility to file) and therefore I have been over paying my water bill for the last year.
Overall the installation was fine, but ever since, there has been no response to any of the services they sold as part of a new system (that cost $4,550), nor basic customer response to my issues that needed attention. I went with their company based on referrals and I love to support local small businesses, however I have had a very poor experience.
Erik G.Used them about 6 months ago to open an irrigation system and they were great. So, I called them again when I had a bigger multi-step project involving multiple venders (irrigation, grading, landscaping). The guy that came out was rude from the beginning, then when I tried to explain the larger project that was happening and the small steps that needed to happen first, he didn't listen to a word and so didn't understand the project. After he explained how they could do all the work in one day (not what I wanted), he told me they couldn't get started for six weeks because of the size of the job. Instead of re-explaining, I let him know I really needed to get some of the first steps done quicker but understood if they were tied up, so I would need to call around to see if anyone was available sooner. He grunted, walked back to his car, and, as he closed the door, told me to ""#uck off"".
