Usually wouldn't write a review for a company that I didn't end up working with, but this is a buyer beware situation:

Called three plumbers to help me fix a leaky pipe under the kitchen sink. Sal Plumbing and Rooter was the quickest to respond and sent a tech out the day after Christmas. The tech quoted $3,900 for the job (replace hot and cold leads to the sink as well as several feet of the hot and cold main supply lines near the corroded and leaking area, plus replacing drywall). I told the tech that I would need to get a competing bid since that was way more expensive than expected, and he reduced the price by $1K immediately. Obviously I wasn't going to work with someone who padded an estimate by that much and the reduced price was still fantastical.

Got the job done for $400 total (similar scope) with another licensed plumber and handyman for the drywall.

Don't know if this was a problem with the company or just the tech, but definitely advisable to always get a few bids!

The work he did was ok, but the plumber left a big, dirty footprint on my bath mat. I think it was raw sewage. I pointed this out and he cleaned it off using a couple of kleenexes. I'm not joking. Don't let these guys near your carpets.

A few weeks ago we were in an absolute bind, as our hot water heater wasn't working and we had a house full of company coming the next day. I spoke to Michael on the phone the night before and he explained that he had a full schedule, but would see what he could do to help. What he did was pull off a miracle, as he called a few hours later and let us know that he reworked his schedule and was able to get Daniel to the house first thing the next morning. Daniel was punctual, knowledgeable and worked quickly. He isolated the water heater issue and handled it within an hour. The hot water was flowing and our family shower crisis was averted. We happily give five appreciative stars to Sal Plumbing. Thank you again for your help when we needed it most.

10 STARS! I needed a water heater replaced and Michael and his team did a FANTASTIC job of installing a tankless water heater. They showed up on time and ready to work and even upgraded the tankless so I got a better efficiency machine for my home. The crew is awesome and worked efficiently. Since the water heater job, I have already hired them for a toilet replacement and we have a lot of work ahead together. Highly recommend.

I had a clogged kitchen sink and I called Sal plumbing and rooter , they answered immediately and we scheduled an appointment, the technician arrived on time he was nice and professional he tired to snaked the drain for a long time and he couldn't get the line opened ,he recommended that we will to check the condition of the pipe under the house , we decided to replace the kitchen line because it was an old galvanized , when he removed the old pipe we found out that the pipe was filled with heavy sludge , they did the work in a timely manner and for a fair price
Highly recommend

They responded fast. They cleared the drain for the advertised price. They ultimately used the camera for free after I denied being charged to show me there was a greater need for repairs. I clearly saw there was a need for a new sewer line between the sidewalk and the city connection as it had tree roots growing at each clay connection along with a partially collapsed clay pipe. They offered a fiber class cloth new line that basically fills in the original pipe and lines the existing pipe covering all tree roots like a skin, known as trenchless sewer line replacement with a cured-in-place pipe. This fiber class material is cured-in-place coating the pipe. After the job was done, they ran a camera to show me the new sewer line from the house to the city connect, the new portion and the existing portion that was previously replaced, and it was clear and perfect. It was VERY EXPENSIVE though and I was assured by Jose that $5500 was a great deal which was $240 less than his original quote. I only paid it for the piece of mind and not wanting to continue dealing with future issues or continuing to shop around for a better deal. Jose was VERY professional and have NO complaints about customer service. The cost was just very high for the section actually needing replacement, about 40 feet (according to the owner but not confirmed). The cost here was 90% labor for sure; most of which was digging the trench (approx. 4'Dx5'L3'W) For this, it is why I rate 4 stars.

The sump pump in my backyard was dead and the plumber who made the diagnosis couldn't get a new one for 7-10 days, which was unacceptable. I reached out to a handful of other plumbers and Sal's Plumbing was quick to respond and gave me a price range to get it fixed the next morning. After sending photos of the situation, Mike said it would be a little more expensive than the range he gave me but said he would stick to his original number. The next morning Mike showed up on time and within a couple of hours the job was finished. Mike explained the work that was done and let me know that the new pump had a 1 year warranty in case there were any issues in the future. Highly recommended.

I did not actually use Sal's Plumbing for a job. I just called them to see if they could do the job. I ended up using another company that was great. I am writing this review so others can vet them properly for their plumbing jobs. I needed a hot water valve under my sink fixed. I had an installer that was trying to install a dishwasher and I did not know that the hot water valve would not shut off completely. The installer did not do hot water valve repairs. So I needed to find a plumber. When I called Sal Plumbing, the lady that answered was helpful and said that she was able to get a repairperson out the same day. That was great news and I was very happy. The price quoted was a little high but nothing too crazy and considering they were coming out the same day I thought it was worth it. Then I got a call back that because the unit was a condo in a building, I needed a letter stating I had permission to shut off the water to the building. I indicated that notice was given and I could shut off the water if needed. Then I was told they would need it in writing from the management. I said I could send them an email with the information. They said that was not sufficient and they needed it in writing. I explained that an email was a writing. I asked again what they wanted and they said that they were required to have something in writing. I tried to figure out what they wanted but everything I proposed or told them I could get them, they just said it was not good enough. I told them several times to just tell me what they wanted and I would get it but they never could explain what they wanted. Just to be clear, I am on the Board for the condo association so it would be easier for me than most to get them whatever they were asking for. I also explained that no other plumbing company that did work for me or the association ever asked for this kind of document. I finally spoke with the repairperson who told me that in the past he had neighbors that complained about the water being turned off and he really did not want to deal with it. I asked how long he anticipated the water would need to be off for the job. Other companies told me it was a fairly simple repair but they did not have any appointments available until the next day. He told me he could not tell me an exact time but he would estimate a minimum of three (3) hours but once he started work it could be up to a week. This did not seem right for the job. So we agreed that I would find another plumber. I found someone else that got it done in 30 minutes and charged less. I cannot say what their work is like but this conversation over the phone did not give me confidence in their abilities. I can understand that they cannot give an exact time for how long a project will take but what he described seemed completely out of the ballpark from every other plumber I spoke with and what happened when the work was actually completed. It could be that they did not want the job. In the end, I am glad I went with a different company.

I just read the comment left by the company and I am even happier that I went with a different company. I can't believe this company! I never said it was a house. I gave a unit number and everything. And I never said there was a leak. Wow! I never spoke with the person that wrote the reply but clearly he is just making stuff up so the company doesn't sound as bad. But in doing so, he is revealing what kind of company it is. Good luck if you actually use this company.
