Five years ago, he decided to launch his own business to take control of customer service and the level of service. As companies cut budgets, he was unwilling to lower his standards on his high standards, developing his business into a complete mechanical, plumbing, and building maintenance provider dedicated to serving homeowners, property managers, building owners, and commercial clients.

They just installed a hot water heater in one day. I called at 10 AM; got a good price quote at 1030 AM. The installer was on site at 1300; He called for a helper, who arrived within 30 minutes. The system was installed by 1600. No undisclosed cost. The installer took time to explain what he was doing. He ensured the heater was working before departing. Best service ever. Highly recommended especially for condo owner.

I just wanted to pass along the fact that I had a very positive customer service experience with Service Works this AM. My furnace has been acting up, so I placed a call to the office. DJ answered and patiently walked me through some troubleshooting that seems to have addressed the problem. Any other business probably would have suggested me to come in right away and charge me! They did not, they help me to figure out the problem myself (which it was not a real, fatal failure). Kudos to Service Works for their work ethic!

I disagree with the previous review. We got a new water heater installed by them. Not only were they the best price quote for a better quality water heater, but the serviceman was very courteous and honest. I offered a tip at the end and he refused it saying that they don't normally get tipped. He made sure I knew how to work the water heater before leaving too. I plan on switching from my current heating and cooling maintenance company to them once our current contract is up.

On the plus side: the plumber successfully cleared up 2 problematic drains for us, one in the bath, one in a sink. But silly us--it cost OVER $600 to perform that service. Yes, you read that right. $625. Does that sound right to you? Buyer beware--stay aware from these bloodsuckers.

WOW, STICKER SHOCK!!!!!!
Well,
The technician was very good, courteous and showed up on time. I had a leak in a faucet that I needed to have evaluated and 2 slow drains to snake. I spent about a half hour with the technician figuring out a solution to the leaky faucet, which would have involved ordering new guts and having him come back to install them. Then he went to work on the drains, which took a little over an hour. He did a very good job and was very thorough, even showing me the clogs he got out, gross but thorough. I didn't feel at all uncomfortable until he gave me an invoice for the 2 drains. $625.00. Yeah, that's right, here for less than 2 hours and cost me over $312 an hour. It never occurred to me that anything like this could cost this much. I don't know what planet these people live on but it is not mine. I immediately told them I was cancelling any further work and would go on Yelp and tell everyone to avoid Service Works as they are absurdly expensive. I have employed lawyers for less than that per hour and I am a professional concert violinist who works for a major symphony and I don't get that much money for a 2 1/2 hour concert. The poor technician was apologetic and I know it is not his job to set fees. I live in North Arlington and this is not the first time I have seen gouging in this neighborhood for the most minor services. I have been in this neighborhood for nearly 20 years and it has changed significantly in its demographic. As a result I think there are sliding scales for these areas that are perceived (certainly correctly) as affluent. I have successfully avoided being victim to this gouging partly because I have a lot of experience in renovating 2 of my own homes. I do realize that partly this is my own fault, and I am reminded now to be more careful. (yet again) I will now require a complete and unchangeable estimate of all work to be done. Irregardless, this was an unreasonable amount of money for the service. I would not recommend Service Works to anyone, and I would warn all who are considering using them, to think again. I paid them in full by the way, simply because I don't want to go to court, or have any further contact with them ever. I am going to repair the faucet myself. When it costs more money than I can make to get something done.........DIY

I called Service Works based on a Google search alone when our home warranty couldn't get anyone to come out to fix our AC unit after 3 HOT days. I called them at 10 in the morning and the wonderful guy on the other end (who I later found out was Rich, the owner) moved things around on their already busy day so that I could have a tech out by noon (Friday). I knew it was a long shot, but he made it happen- when MANY other companies weren't able to even think about coming out before late next week. Rich heard the desperation in my voice and did what he could to help us out. The tech, Walter was wonderfully helpful- professional, kind, efficient! He explained everything that was wrong, what he was doing, and all of the costs involved. I will continue to call on them for GREAT customer service, professional work and really caring about their customers (even new ones, like me!) I was so pleased and impressed that I bought a service plan with them so that they can help keep us cool and warm as needed all year long! Thanks Rich, Walter and Service Works for helping keep us comfortable and for providing GREAT service!!

Very honest people. My tenant called me and said that the heater didn't work. Because I had no idea with heater units, I called Service Works. The service person called and said that there was nothing wrong with the heater, and just had to reset the unit. I will definitely call them again for any needed service.
