After spending over $15,000.00 to have my HVAC system completely replaced including the second floor ducting, Service Today repaired a leak in the drainage pipe, and refused to repair the wall, floor, carpet, and carpet pad for water damage. It had been only 10 months from installation, and only six full weeks of operation. They blamed the cracked fitting on me, the homeowner, even though the fitting was located inside a wall cavity.
So much for their guarantee of total satisfaction.
Randell N.We had family staying at our condo in Lewes, De when the A/C broke down. She called Service Today because they had been the previous owners service company! They responded immediately. They ordered replacement parts and when the parts came, Brandon came and installed the parts. Brandon was very courteous and very knowledgable! They are now OUR service company! Thank you Service Today!
Teddi W.I would not recommend this company. Called for freon to be added to air conditioning, the repairmen made the situation worst. Also, he left the system running without notifying me; to make matters worst, the thermostat was in the off position. I was informed by him that the circuit board was temperamental which was not an issue until after his arrival. Yes, he actually said ""temperamental"" - no judgment. I received an invoice from him as one in the mail totaling almost $300.
I called another reputable company in the area who repaired the unit, and was honest and upfront regarding the problems.
If you are desperate for a company to come in for service, put a mask on and follow the technician around your home.
Had tech come out to check water heater vent, don't mind paying the 49.00 service fee, but the tech went to basement looked at water heater went outside and looked at roof said yep your good, charged me 50.00 extra dollars for that. In my mi d outrageous!
Jeff N.Service Today quoted us a price of $518 (labor) to install a new dehumidifier (parts warranty). When we inquired as to why the cost was so high, we were informed that it would be a two hour or longer job.
As Service Today had already diagnosed the problem (at a cost of $219) with the dehumidifier (failed compressor) and would be able to obtain the replacement (a new ""plug and play"" total unit) under the manufacturer's parts warranty.
When the technician arrived with the replacement unit at 8:30 AM on August 16, I asked him how long the job would take. He responded to the effect ""not long, it's an easy remove and install."" Sure enough, 45 minutes later the technician and his assistant were loading up their van preparing to leave. The assistant asked me for payment but was not able to explain the $518 charge for 45 minutes of work.
It was at this point that my wife noticed that the dehumidifier was not properly connected to the remote (no readout, no ability to set humidity level). The technician was notified and returned to investigate. After 10 minutes or so, I asked him if the remote was working as he was entering his van. I didn't get an answer and shortly thereafter observed him in the van on his phone and reviewing what appeared to be a manual and on his cell phone-- apparently trying to get help on how to fix the remote connection. Thirty-five minutes later, he informed us that the remote was connected and asked for a payment of $518.
The technician became very indignant with us when I again asked for an explanation of the bill--- he came very close to demanding that we pay and when I asked to be sent an itemized bill, he stormed out of our house. After the technician left the job, we discovered that the remote was not working properly.
Service Today continues to refuse to share any details about what their customer service manager referred to as a ""proprietary"" billing system.
While they are scheduled to return to try and fix what they could not the first time out, we are highly reluctant to recommend Service Today. We do recommend you retain another outfit with a better track record for competency and transparency.
Consumer beware! The employee owner techs means they get a percentage of their recommendations to the consumers. I found they as re about $200 over priced. I had been using them for a few years before looking into their over pricing. I called to question an estimate and could only talk to the employee receptionist...ugh.
Terrible service- I had a contract for a year and every time they came out there was a mistake made. They were late, didn't show up and made a mistake every time they came out to my house.
Rick E.Flim flam service. On the phone we were tolls it would be an initial charge would be $89 and that would be deducted from any work required. One of our toilets was slow running. The plumber walked I. And tightened a house. Yes, tightened it will his hands. Took one minute. We were the. Told the charge was $149. We questioned this and was then told the minimum service cost is $149 and the $88 was only if they drove here and did not look at anything. Misleading. We will never use the service again.
I have used Service Today for several years, they have fixed as many HVAC service related outages as they caused as a result of their maintenance, they are not cheap but most times they can provide the first service the same day but may take several attempts (visits) to correct/resolve the issue they caused or are attempting to fix. Make sure your ready to take some time off work to accommodate multiple visits.
2008 , they installed 2 Trane heat pumps. After 3 months, one indoor unit failed, they fixed. I live 15' from the water and they installed the units on the ground pad, no legs, and too close to the house, outside the kitchen. They sent same installer to move the pumps and put on legs. (They have no record of this!) Then both had capacitors fail, under warranty. After 5 yrs of paid maintenance policies, one unit has burned wire within 2 weeks of inspection and needs replacement. No break on new compressor....3000.00. Ad says cannot stop a Trane, but, they did!
