My home warranty company connected me with Service Mechanical and I will start with, like the other reviews, the receptionist is still very rude. In addition to the receptionist being rude the technician after leaving my home from completing the initial diagnosis, sent a different invoice to my home warranty company saying I needed duct modification($225 flat rate) to replacement my evaporator coil. This wouldn't have been an issue if it was on the original diagnosis invoice I received, but it wasn't. It just seemed very shady.

Service Mechanical was to work on my HVAC system. I had an appointment scheduled for an arrival time ""sometime between 9am and 2pm"". (Pretty long wait time window if you ask me) They said they would call 30mins prior to arrival. At 2:15pm I hadn't heard from anyone and called to see how much longer I'd be trapped at home waiting for them. The receptionist says that someone called me ""between 9am and 11am""; because I didn't answer they were no longer coming to the appointment to work on my system.

1. I assure you NO ONE called me (I'm happy to provide you my phone record)
2. No one left a message. IF they really did call, I would've immediately returned their call as I was waiting around for them. (As a business wouldn't you have the courtesy to leave a message and inform the customer you weren't going to show up because no one answered and to call the office to reschedule?)
3. When I called the office, the lady on the phone was very rude and unaccommodating. My only option was to schedule another day to wait around for a phone call between 9 and 2 to see if someone shows up. NO THANKS.

What is the point of scheduling an arrival time and making an appointment if your contractors aren't going to show up?

The receptionist is very rude. I've dealt with this company over the years as a property manager, through various warranty companies, and she is curt and annoyed when I call for status updates and just have general questions about what happened at properties. I genuinely call just to see what's going on with a property and she answers me like she's annoyed that I asked and is rude for no reason.

This company lost our service before they even started. The company did not respond at all to a dispatched service order from our home warranty company, did not respond to my follow-up phone call three days after that, then lied about it to us and our home warranty company five days after that. Leslie stated that they have in their records that they called us twice (and that only she and the owner have access to those records). In the age of cell phones, we all know that this is an impossible lie to get away with (but my husband and I still checked our cell phone records thoroughly to confirm prior to this posting). If they have the right numbers for us today, they certainly had them then. Additionally, she then attempted to cover by stating that FOUR DAYS after receiving our dispatched service request (a week ago today), that they had notified the home warranty company and told them that they are too busy and that we should be sent to a different company. Why was this not part of the conversation last night when the home warranty company called you? When given the opportunity to Make It Right and send out a service provider ""expedited"", as we had been promised the night before via the warranty company as an intermediary who contacted their owner directly, we were told that the owner stated we would be called first thing in the morning and could expect service that day, however, we were not called until 1015am and were actually offered an appointment FIVE DAYS LATER (and that is generous, as I am not including today in that count). When I asked her why she would not Make It Right, she stated ""I apologized to you and I am trying to schedule an appointment now for Wednesday."" An apology is always welcome, but if there is no effort made to correct the actual problem, then it is insincere. When you have dropped the ball AND when you advertise as a 24-hr per day emergency on-call available company, I cannot imagine preferring to schedule someone just as if they were a new customer calling that morning rather than fixing the issue that you created. She admitted that if they had responded in a timely fashion to either of the contacts made by me or the warranty company, that my service would have been completed by now. That said, I am deeply disappointed, because she was still unwilling to offer me a sooner time than five days later. (And to note, the new company to whom we were referred will be out TODAY and has already called with a time. Now THAT is making it right...and it wasn't even their problem to fix. Looking forward to giving my money to a different company.) My home warranty company has documented well the lack of service that I have received, as well as the lie to cover it up. Why burn a referral source? That could have been money in your pocket.

As a homeowner who has built and owned numerous homes over the last 45 years; as a businessman, who owns several office warehouses, I have used numerous (10-12) HVAC service companies. However, the professionalism of the personnel at Service Mechanical is outstanding. Their office personnel are courteous and call you back immediately when you leave a voicemail or get the answering service after hours.
I live in Virginia Beach and even though they are based in Hampton, VA, they are always on time.
Their prices are very competitive. My residence has 3 zones, two electric & 1 gas. They have repaired all 3 over the last summer. They have also repaired ductwork under the house. Everything has worked perfectly afterwards. And all of their technicians seemed to know exactly what is wrong and how to fix it. I can not recommend them higher. Very good company to do business with!

I hired this company back in 2006 because I had a leaking HVAC drain pan in my attic. This summer, I had another leak and found out that they did NOT fix the problem right back in 2006. The technician did not install a p-trap or a clean-out or a vent like he should have. He ran the line from the pan directly into the main line without installing an emergency line. It has now cost me additional money to have the pan replaced & the lines run correctly.
