I started my journey in the HVAC industry in 1994 at Universal Technical Institute, where I earned an associate's degree in Heating & Air Conditioning. Shortly after completing my degree, I started working with a firm that provided plumbing services along with heating and air conditioning, where I began my plumbing education under a licensed plumber. Four years later, I obtained my plumbing license from the state of Illinois and the Department of Public Health. Fast forward to 2014, I became a well-rounded service technician, installer, manager, and business owner. Throughout my journey, I discovered early on that this profession offers a rewarding sense of achievement when we assist a customer in resolving their issues and alleviating their stress. Our business model fosters a win-win-win situation for our customers, employees, and the company, leading to a demand for our services across the state; we are always here to help you smile!

Recommended Customer Reviews
I highly recommend Service King. Jason was quick to respond and able to schedule at times we were available. Very professional and knowledgeable.
Was looking for a quote on several plumbing issues at a townhouse we are fixing up.
Water Heater
Gas Shutoff Valve
shower faucet
drain issue
Offered to pay for a service call. They refused. I will never call them again.
This place total rip off. Called to service 20 yr old furnace. Charged me 2,000. for parts/service that should have been 800.00. Furnace quit 3 weeks later. They came back out and wanted another 750.00 to replace a different part. Called another company. They said I got totally ripped off and had to put in a new furnace. Stay away from this dishonest company.
We called service king to provide an estimate to fix water leaks in a shower. Jason came on time. He was very professional. Provided detailed explanations showing us that the leak is from the grout lines within the shower walls. He also provided us with the name of a company that would repair grouts. Did not charge us anything for his work.
Thank you.
First, I had Service King out to repair my toilet flush valve. Did a great job with that. Also needed to replace my aging water heater. Got an estimate to install a new water heater to village code. I then entertained other proposals from other plumbers. Service King gave me the best price. Had the work completed in just over 4 hours. The plumbing work/rework was well done. Love the new 1/4 turn shutoff valve. After the job was finished, he did a great job cleaning up too!
I will definitely keep this plumber on my ""go to"" list for all plumbing issues in my condo.
I need to fix water leaking in a bathroom and found this service from a popular web site with pretty good reviews. Through the phone, the service person told me it costed $400+ plus $200+ for total fixes. He asked my credit card in order to start the work. After 2- hours later, he called me and said it needed another $600 to complete the work. I started feeling something wrong, so found another service to check the work. And I got all fixed with only $485!
Here comes the worst...... without completing the work and without my final approval, the Service King Plumbing & HAVC charged me $725.
Lessons Learned...... 1) don't trust good reviews, but read the bad ones carefully. 2) never give the credit card information before the work.
Called, made an appointment with someone for them to come between 11am-1pm. I called at 3pm when no one had come, no answer. I called at 5pm when no one had come or called me back. No answer. I called the next morning, once again, no answer and no response to the voicemails I left. If you make an appointment, don't actually expect them to show up.
Want to be charged 5 times more than you should? Work with an unethical company? Than you found the right place! We purchased a home about a month ago and had a pipe leak in the basement. After calling this company they came out and augured the toilet and did a pull and reset for $660. This seemed high, but being new home owners we thought this was the standard cost of having something like this resolved, and we needed this fixed asap. A couple weeks later, another issue, we had the connection between the toilet tank and hose break so we called this company again. Jason came out again and gave us a quote of $280 to get this resolved. This time we said that was too much and wanted to wait till we talked to our insurance company and get another quote. Jason offered to do the job now and unethically change the receipt date so that our insurance would cover it but we still said no. The next day while I was at work my wife decided to go to the local Home Depot to ask how to fix this. And by the time I got home she had fixed the toilet all by herself! It turns out all we needed was a $7 part and it only took her 20 minutes to fix. How this company could say this would cost $280 amazes me, especially after they just over charged us $660 a couple weeks earlier. Bottom line do not trust this company. They are unethical and will try to take as much advantage of you as possible. This was an expensive lesson learned, and I wanted to tell this story so that no one else has to learn the hard way.
Holly S.I am finding a new plumber as well as HVAC after the last two months of hassle using Jason/Service King. It is unfortunate when you give a local guy running his own one-man company a chance and they screw up without a care at multiple jobs.
I noticed a water mark on the ceiling of my lower living room (split level house) and called Jason, because he had done our routine furnace and a/c checks in the fall/spring before and he is also supposedly a plumber. Never had actual repair work done on my HVAC and I'm wondering how well he even did those cleanings now in hindsight.
Jason came out and diagnosed the source of the leak as the shower valve in the bathroom above, and claimed we did NOT need to cut into any wall or ceiling to verify. I was certainly okay with cutting the ceiling to check but he said it was unnecessary. Unfortunately you take the advice of the professional you hire and assume they know what they're talking about. We paid about $900 in the end for a replacement valve, showerhead, and faucet with four hours or so of labor.
4-6 weeks later there is an actual puddle on that lower living room floor. Jason replaced parts unnecessarily and now we had a ceiling and walls full of water. I called Mr. Rooter to get a chain company with more accountability in, and after a reasonable $70 visit fee and a few hours, they found the cause of the leak to be a grout crack NOT at the valve/faucet/showerhead. It took five cents of caulk and a good eye to find it, but definitely deductive reasoning in working to find the leak, which I believe all plumbers SHOULD be using.
I had to file a homeowners claim because now the water had been leaking so long after improper diagnosis that the closet behind that bathroom wall was full of water, the sub floor in that closet soaked, and the ceiling/walls/floor in the room below even. Ripping open the ceiling, the floors, the baseboards, and installing the dehumidifying equipment to prevent mold and paying a hefty price out of pocket after the insurance claim is not very fun when a good plumber would have inspected the root cause better. Again, hindsight is everything.
Before we found that Jason cannot diagnose a leak, I recommended him to a friend who just bought a short sale home nearby. He had several plumbing issues to repair: two toilets leaking at the base, a tub that wouldn't get hot water, washer hookup that was rusted, etc. He quoted the friend at $2500 to fix all problems. After upping the price as he was doing the work (we all know this is a tactic which makes the homeowner feel trapped and have to pay more as work is half finished) the friend was left with $500 repairs to each toilet that STILL leak when new toilets installed don't even cost that much. The tub gets hot water but now it has a constant leak that Jason literally gave up on and told him can't be repaired, along with the tub being unable to 'stop' like a tub should, afterwards telling my friend he knew that part was broken the entire time but didn't tell him. He wouldn't be paying for hot water to be working in a tub you can't plug to use as a bathtub this entire time.
I contacted Jason to ask for a reasonable reimbursement on labor fees as the McHenry County Small Claims Court site suggests as a first step. I do have the new parts he put in after all, but the second plumber found gaps in Service King's valve install even. Jason refused and said he did the correct repair and that's how it ended, but I've done my due diligence before filing the court claim now that I'm out of thousands from insurance and unnecessary replacements.
I hope people reading this take the review and points to heart as I've tried to lay it out as clearly as possible. There are more educated, efficient and fair choices available locally for plumbing who do not play pricing games and do the work needed to find solutions.
They came out to fix a switch issue on a sub pump that has been so called fixed several times by another plumbing company. The tech came out the same day and fixed the issue I was dealing with for for a while. It's been several months since the fix and the issue has not returned. Thanks for the fair price great service and the follow up call to make sure the issue didn't reoccur. Will use this company again and have recommended then to many family members. Tanks again for giving me piece of mind that my basement will stay dry.
