do yourself a favor and stay a million miles away from this business.
we had a bathtub problem. not only did he not fix it, he lied about what he'd done. He took payment for a new tub which he never bought. He took payment for a dump trip to dispose of the old tub, which he actually never removed; he apparently just dumped a can of paint into it. I could go on.
But I won't, except to say that he should have some shame about trading on the Marine sense of honor.
We hired Cedrick Smith to do a few basic plumbing tasks - change a kitchen faucet, install a disposal, and unclog a dishwasher and a couple of other items that I did not let him do after what we experienced on the first day. He says he is a master plumber who is licensed and insured, and the more research I do, I am realizing that none of this seems true. He is NOT searchable on the state websites as a licensed plumber in MD or VA.
I chose Cedrick because he was polite, communicated well, and confirmed that he is licensed and insured. He also is a military vet, which gets extra points in my book as I like to support anyone who has served our country and in my experience, members of the military are honest, meticulous and intentional in what they do. His prices were in line with the 10 others I vetted before hiring someone. I just wanted someone who could do the work right- not looking for a bargain which he certainly is not.
Everything Cedrick did had a corresponding problem. He did not shut off the water main/well pump before replacing a pipe resulting in significant flooding and damage to hardwood floors and cabinets. He neglected to seal pipes he replaced, re-flooding the kitchen several times. There is blue stuff everywhere under the cabinet, so his work was far from neat. Even the garbage disposal he installed (with great difficulty for some reason) ended up disconnecting from the pipe due to the vibration of the unit and the fact that he did not bond the pipe to the disposal at all. I could go on for days on the other big and little things that I observed and experienced. I gave him the benefit of the doubt chalking it up to a bad day, but our pipes that never gave us problems before have resulted in many bad days on my end. He did return the second day when a pipe was powerfully leaking water under the sink- was at our house within 45 minutes. That was the last of the good customer service.
We ended up purchasing a new dishwasher through him which has still not materialized. Paid in full including installation. Excuse after excuse and then no communication.
End cost was over $1200 and he only accepts venmo. I requested his insurance information to file a claim due to the significant damage resulting from the flood he caused and he kept promising it with excuses that he was out of town and would get it to us. We ended up filing a claim on our own insurance because the level of damage was so significant we will have to replace all of our hardwoods and cabinets and treat for any potential mold growth. even our insurance company has tried to contact him- he answered the phone and told them he has insurance but never responded to the email asking for more specifics.
He brought his kids with him on the call. They were polite and honestly very helpful when the house was flooded. That said, I'm not sure if it's a good idea to bring children to a customer's house like that.
I don't think this guy knows anything about plumbing. He is very far from honest- at the time of this writing he still hasn't delivered that dishwasher (or installed it), so he has also STOLEN from us. And for what he did, it was extremely expensive. Do yourself a favor and save yourself time, money and your patience.... find someone else.
I have spent money but problem was not fixed. There is no reply to my texts I feel left I m being robbed in a daylight. It was a rude communication. Avoid it every way possible.
