NEVER USE SHELDON'S PLUMBING

I had an issue with my furnace. It would turn on, run for approximately ten seconds, and then cut off. I suspected a clogged nozzle and fuel filter. I initially contacted Gelinas, but I was directed to their voicemail. I found Sheldon's Plumbing and thought, because they were close by, that they might be able to help. Boy, was I wrong!!

Sheldon showed up with his friend Bob (and I can't even fathom why Bob was there in the first place). I let them in the side door, being that it was both closer to the basement and meant that they would have to walk fewer stairs. This was an immediate concern as both gentlemen were older and overweight.

I explained the situation to Sheldon again. He first checked to see if there was a charge. There was, as I had both explained and demonstrated. He then bled the line to see if oil was flowing. I again told him that I had already done that.

He then began to lecture to me that he was upset that I had called him and had told him that I had oil. ""You don't have oil. You're wasting my time.""

""No,"" I told him, ""I have almost half a tank. If you look over there,"" I said, pointing to the tank, ""You can see for yourself.""

""There's nothing I can do. But, i'm going to have to charge you $90 for the visit.""

""Are you kidding me?!"" I responded. ""I called you and described the problem. You show up, do absolutely nothing, and tell me you're going to charge me for the visit. I'll tell you what, as long as I have to pay you, why don't you actually try to diagnose the problem?""

At this point, he and Bob shuffled out to get a ""draft regulator"", and I never heard from or saw them again.

Fast forward: I called Dwayne O'Roak (207.730.6155). He showed up the next day, replaced the nozzle, replaced the filter, cleared out the line, and the furnace is running like a charm.
