I believe they lied and did shoddy work. We had them come out when we moved into this house, and as Rish K noted the home warranty company sent them out to fix a water heater that wasn't working (there are 2 connected together for extra capacity, 1 wasn't working). Upon further inspection it appears they replaced a control valve on it with what appears to be an older or even possibly used control valve, based on a similar valve on the unit next to it. It also turns out it quit working right after they left, and I wasn't about to call them back. I further believe they lied when they said they called and talked to my wife and told her there would be extra charges and she said OK, but they never actually called her (how could they didn't have her phone number until later on).
No more home warranties, no more Scout plumbing.
Very Unprofessional
Scheduled two times and waited all day long at home but Tech called left me a voicemail, i returned the call within 5 minutes but no answer. Why would Tech even call appointment is scheduled instead of showing up at door.
Waste of Time
You get what you pay for. My home warranty company sent them to fix three very basic issues. I had a toilet leaking at the base, a faulty tub diverter and a small leak at the base of one of my faucets. That plumber actually told me the leak was result of my toilet moving and not the wax ring. I have personally replaced three wax rings. You gotta be kidding me. I called another plumber and they fixed everything. I showed them the report, and man was totally confused by what they put. This company might be facing legal action soon if they don't start making sense. Also, home warranties are basically waste of money...
As with several other reviewers, Scout Plumbing was dispatched through my home warranty company. Both are culpable for the horrible experience I had. My water heater needed to be replaced, and there were some code updates that had to be done. When the tech quoted me a very high rate despite my home warranty, I told him I needed to do some research and I would let them know if I want them to begin the work. At that point the conversation completely shifted and he became extremely condescending and rude. After what I discovered, I understand why he was defensive. I pulled my town codes and warranty information, and I compared that to his work order. I researched the prices of the parts I needed, and his mark-up was quadruple for most of the parts. The permit required by my town was $50, but he charged me $150. I offered to get the permit myself to save the tech some time and legwork, and he said I wasn't allowed to. While I understand they need to make money, this felt almost extortion-like. I tried to negotiate with Scout and was told by their receptionist that the home warranty company sets the prices. I checked with my home warranty company and they advised that isn't true, they CAP the prices - not set them. Scout Plumbing blatantly lied to me. I tried to change plumbers with my home warranty company, and I was denied. After over 2 weeks with no hot water and going back and forth with both the home warranty company and contractor, I went forward with the repair. I would NEVER have given this company my hard-earned money if I wasn't stuck between a rock and a hard place. I feel punked, I was ripped off, and I will NEVER patronize this business again. Do yourself a favor and stay away!
Scout Plumbing came to our home via our home warranty company (First American). The job was to repair a dripping tub faucet. The plumber who came to our house clearly didn't know what he was doing. He not only made the leak worse but he left without fixing it. He told us he'd have to order a part and would be back in a week. And that when he returned, he'd need to open up the wall behind the shower to fix the problem. We were dumbfounded. He left the bathtub filling at the rate of about a tub full an hour. First American refused to send anyone else out to help us. We spent most of the weekend with the water in our house completely off. Turning it on only to take showers and to do dishes. It was awful. We ended up calling a different company (Baker Brothers). They fixed the leak in 10 minutes. They had the part with them and they didn't have to open up a wall. They were dumbfounded anyone would think that was necessary. I did call Scout Plumbing after the competent company took care of it. The attitude of the person I spoke with was condescending at best. She thought it was completely normal that someone would have to flush their toilet with buckets of water from their bathtub all weekend. And she blamed it on the warranty company. I would NOT recommend Scout Plumbing to anyone.
Horrible customer service. They were referred by our Home Warranty. They came out twice in three months to replace the seal on our toilet. The second time they said it was because a nut was loose. OK....but maybe they should have noticed it the first time. At any rate we paid both visits. Right after Seth, the plumber left, I notice a tile was cracked. I called right away. Seth said "there were no cracked tiles". I said that's correct, there were no cracked tiles before you got here but there is one now. Obviously something happened when he moved the toilet to replace the seal. He said he didn't drop it so they aren't responsible. Bottom line....if there was no cracked tile when he started the work and there was a cracked tile when he finished they should be responsible. Tile is 13 years old so we won't be able to just replace one tile. We're going to have to re-tile the whole bathroom. I wouldn't expect them to pay for the whole job, but I would expect them to contribute. Home Warranty company is siding with the plumber so we are left with no alternative. All I can do is warn others.
They misdiagnosed a sewerage problem. Lived with their error for 12 days yuk don't use them ever
Fausto O.Very bad customer experience. Unfortunately This company was selected by my home warranty company. When they call me to schedule an appointment on 3/7/2017 they were very rude like they want to get rid of you. When we could not agree on a time, they just told me " well that is all we have if you do not like it, call to you warranty company and told them to assign you somebody else" then they hanged up the phone.
After a called to my warranty company, they could not find another company, so I had to call them again. After several minutes trying to find my work order, they told me "well we will call you when we get to your order again" I tried to explain them that my order was already submitted, but regardless of that they put my order at the back of their recent orders, and they hanged up again on me again.
If you can avoid this company I will recommend. They should get a class on customer service. I am making a complain with my warranty company as well.
The absolute worst customer service in the world...AND they lied on the document that they left behind. AVOID AT ALL COST...there are reliable and respectable plumbers out there and these guys are not one of them. Both Scout Plumbing and First American Home Warranty are ridiculous. Hard to believe that they are the kind of company that would rather leave a customer with a broken water heater...than replace it. They came out 3 weeks ago and said it wasn't a problem...then teh water heater broke and is leaking in my garage...they came back and said (this is not a recall) and then refused to give the home warranty company any details about the service call, just to make our lives more difficult. Do yourself a favor and AVOID THIS COMPANY at all costs. I really wish I could type a longer review...but basically...i'd give them a ZERO if I could. and they and their manager Diane are not helpful people and dont care about the customer.
Ross T.Cannot be recommended as they overcharge. However, the plumber Seth was a nice guy. Disassociate yourselves with the scam artists at American Home Warranty and you'll likely get far better reviews.
