I called Schumacher & Farley on a Sunday morning at 8:55am because raw sewage was backing up into my downstairs tub. Mr. Phil was at my house within one hour and had the problem resolved within the next hour. I was not only very pleased with his work, but also by how clean and careful he was with my home. I strongly recommend this company for any and all your plumbing needs. John B.
Marissa F.Highly recommend Schumacher and Farley plumbing and heating for anyone looking for a plumber. I only have great things to say about this company! Phil and his team are such hard workers and excellent at what they do! Everyday they were scheduled to be here they showed up on time and stayed as late as needed to get the job done. From start to finish they exceeded my expectations all for an unbeatable price may I add! I will definitely be using them for any/all future plumbing needs!
My experience with this company was unpleasant. I hired the company in 2015 to install a new furnace for my house, and they did an ok job. However,i in my opinion, customer service wise, this company is not the best.
Not so long ago in 2016, I had an issue with the heating system and the low water cutoff sensor and I did not like the way they handled my concern. I hired this company in 2016 again to do the yearly maintenance on the newly installed furnace. My line of thought was that since they installed the furnace, they would be in the best positions to service it going forward, although they charge a bit more than other companies I found online. The mechanic/plumber arrived at the scheduled date and performed some procedures, but told me since the boiler was new it did not need much cleaning or chemicals. I watched him drain a few buckets of water and about half hour later he said he was done. I started feeling this purchase was a waste of money, since this whole process cost me close to $250. I wish I was better informed by this company as to why and when the maintenance is needed.
A week after the maintenance appointment, due to weather getting cooler and having to start to use the furnace, we started experiencing some leaks from the radiators. I called the company and asked them to send the technician back to check the system while it was running, which was not done fully during the maintenance appointment I mentioned above. The company sent someone the same day. The technician did a good job and explained to us that the water in the system is dirty and it looks like it blocks the sensor. He also told us to pitch the radiators correctly to avoid issues going forward. He opened up the sensor box (I thought this was supposed to be done by the other technician, which I paid for) and tried to clean it. He was professional and explained to us what he thought was wrong. He said he was going to write a report and present to his managers. He also told me that he is concerned about the level of water disappearing completely from the gauge glass while the furnace was running. His advice was to monitor and call the company if this continues to occur.
After he left, we noticed that there was a screw on the floor and the sensor box was a bit loose, but figured he may have left it like that knowing he will be sent back to fix the issue.
After a few days, we noticed the water level in the gauge was still very low. I sent an email to the company and they sent the technician back to take a look. He arrived, noticed that we fixed the pitching and monitored the furnace while running. We asked him whether boiler safe to operate and he said no, not safe when we are not home. We became concerned for safety, since we have kids in the house. The manager/owner called me the next day and after a short fact straightening convo he said he will call me next week and come to the house himself to flush out the boiler one more time. He seemed not very worried about the low water cutoff gauge or the sensor, however, we were, given what the technician told us about safety issue just the day before.
I waited two weeks for the callback. On top of the issues described above, one morning we woke and found the sensor detached from the screw at the bottom, just hanging there loosely. Completely freaked out, afraid to touch it, I finally decided to call them to find out what was happening, whether he would still come to the house to look at the system himself. Sent emails, a picture of the sensor hanging, called and left messages with the receptionists. We were not experts, and we were afraid to touch the sensor. I tried to explain to the admins over the phone that I need advice. I felt embarrassed having to chase them around, but this was a big financial investment and I was worried about the safety of our house. The admin told me she would deliver the message and that someone will call me back shortly. I waited another two weeks and no one called. We were still under free 1 year part replace period. Every time I would call, the secretary would be more and more annoyed, telling me someone will call back. It was a horrible experience for me to have to feel embarrassed for having to ask so many times to get a service I believed I was entitled to. I believe this company's services are overpriced and the quality of the customer service I received does not match this premium I had to pay for the product. I finally decided to find a new plumbing company to check the problem out and they confirmed a part holding the sensor was broken ( we don't know for sure how it happened, may have been done during cleaning). I decided to purchase a new one, although I had the one year warranty on parts installed by Schumacher still valid. I feel I was ignored and I am very disappointed with the way this company handled my concern. Because of all the stress and wasted time I experienced, I decided I will never use their services again.
Called for a floor heat quote was asked to leave my phone number for a call back. Waited a few days, no response. Called second time and was asked to leave my number again. No response to date. Unprofessional!!
I started working with them at the end of the year when my boiler broke. Their response was immediate and had it fixed in 24 hours at a time when most people were packing up and getting ready to go home and celebrate the New Year.
An unrelated problem occurred about a week later late in the day. Jerry came to fix it and didn't leave until the problem was fixed. That was around 9 pm.
This is a great company whose professionalism and service is unmatched. They come highly recommended.
The blower on my forced air heat system stopped working. I called a different company first. They sent a tech with no tools who declared ""You need a new blower motor"" without even opening the furnace. After I sent him packing, I called Schumacher & Farley. I'm glad I did.
Their tech, Gerry came well within the appointment window and after a brief conversation about the problem, he got to work. Well, it wasn't the blower motor at all. The circuit board had failed. Gerry diagnosed the problem and then laid out what I needed. Upon checking with the supply house for a new circuit board, we agreed on a price. Gerry even helped me keep the cost down a bit (thanks Gerry). The part arrived and Gerry again arrived within the appointment window, replaced the defective board and tested the system. Everything is working fine now. The folks at Shcumacher & Farley were pleasant and professional. Making the appointments was a breeze and processing payment went very smoothly. From start to finish, Schumacher & Farley were a step ahead of any plumber I've dealt with in my 22 years of homeownership. By the way, I found them through Yelp and their great reviews. These folks are highly recommended.
Quick and Professional Service! That is what you'd hoped for when you have no hot water running through your faucet/shower. And that's exactly what Schumacher & Farley provided! Fred and Max(?) were courteous and straight forward with what needed to be done to resolve the issue. Fred also checked first to see if my old water heater was still under warrantee, to possibly save me some money (unfortunately it was not) but nonetheless it was a very proactive approach in resolving my issue and that to me says a lot about the company. Must companies nowadays don't care about the client, they are only concerned about getting paid. Everything was completed in 3 hours - I never expected that. I am a satisfied customer and I highly recommend Fred and his team from Schumacher & Farley!
This was a couple of years ago, but still...
My family used this company for over 30 years. I had a backup in the sewer line from the street to the house. They contracted it out to one of those sewer and drain cleaner outfits that charge $99 to snake the entire line. When I got the bill, I was charged a service fee AND the fee of a licensed plumber. When I complained, and told them that they charged me twice the amount for making a phone call, they took a few bucks off with the attitude that they were being generous and I was lucky to get a discount.
They do great work, but I can't use them for being such snakes.
We called Schumacher & Farley on a cold Sunday in December after realizing our boiler had broke. Early Monday morning, Fred and his crew came to our help by assessing the problem and returning to start the process of replacing our boiler within the hour. In the very cold morning temperature, the helpful and polite crew replaced the system. By the afternoon, we were thrilled to have the heat finally back on in our home. After realizing additional work was needed, Fred came back with an extremely fair price. That was a great Christmas present!!!. I would recommend Fred and his crew highly if are looking for fast, fair, clean and courteous company.
Kevin S.Excellent prompt service, up front pricing, and dedicated professionals is the experience I got when I called Schumacher and Farley. I had the pleasure of having Fred inspect the issues with my water heater as well as walk me through the process we would have to go through to get National Grid to turn the gas to my house back on after having had it shut off due to a detected gas leak. Phil came to do the actual servicing itself and did a fantastic job of fixing any and all issues identified. He also was great at making sure I was actively aware and fully understood the need for any work that was done while servicing the issue. I will absolutely be using their services again if any plumbing or heating needs arises in the future. Schumacher and Farley are true professionals and I would highly recommend their services to everybody.
