The work done was actually very good, but the charge was double the estimate due to them charging for driving time from Toledo to Waterloo and back, which they conveniently forgot to mention beforehand. And this makes no sense as we called the Waterloo office.

Kinetico water softeners are great, but Scharnweber treated us badly. So my problem is not with the plumber who did the work but with Scharnweber management who seem to think they can charge as much as they like. I realize they have bills to pay, we all do. But overcharging is NOT the way to do it !

They came out to work on our well...two guys they managed to snap off two bolts. My husband had the bolts off the day before so why they broke them is a mystery.
Instead of one guy going back to the shop for the bolts and one continuing to work they both went. The shop is less than 5 miles away yet they were gone for over an hour and a half at $75 an hour. The bill was twice what they quoted. We were new to the area, since then several people have told us they would never use them because of outrageous bills. I guess if you are a commercial company that brings them a lot of business it's different than a homeowner that is not a continuous customer.

BEWARE! Deceitful and misleading sales.. I had Alan come and give me a quote for a water softener. I was quoted in writing $240 price for installation and $35 for monthly rental. When I received my bill, the cost was $448.51. The HUGE difference was attributed to extra plumbing and labor. They knew that extra plumbing and labor would be necessary, as it was written on my quote, so why did they not disclose the approximate added costs on the quote? Completely misleading. Avoid this company and their hidden fees.
