We did our kitchen without a gc, getting a company each for plumbing, electrical, cabinetry, countertops... But there was just no way to put everything together without someone to handle ""everything else"" and Norman played that crucial role for us throughout the process. A short list of everything Norman did for us: demolition, patching, painting, minor electrical, even handling a very custom retrofit install of an over-range microwave and roof exhaust vent that didn't really fit into any of the other guys' jobs. Norman was responsive, careful, clean, fair and reasonably priced, and was a good sport when it came to all of the unexpected problems that always crop up along the way.

Norman helped me with a few projects in my condo: fixed broken screen door, touched up walls, put up new light fixture and replaced two ventilation fan lights in the bathroom & laundry room. He is professional and always punctual. He explains the project and any potential issues upfront, is detail oriented, and always cleans up after the project.
I have a couple more projects this year and plan to ask Norman to help again!

I originally reached out to Norman when I tried to change out a door knob and was epically unsuccessful. After multiple back and forth emails, phone calls and even FaceTimes, I was still unable to get it off. (He did all this without asking for compensation!) Norman came over a couple weeks later, over 2 hours later, he was finally able to take the old door knob off and put in the new one - this included a lot of investigating, prying, sawing, and finally repainting the door. I guarantee you that was the most complex door knob exchange one will ever encounter. Norman was great!

Norman replaced several light fixtures and did a good job. He was honest about what he could and couldn't do on other projects and he was fairly priced.

I feel like I need to post this review of Norman because I hired him based on all of his positive reviews and I was sadly disappointed in his work.
Norman came out to my home in San Mateo a few months ago to remove and replace a curtain rod and to install curtain rods and hang curtains above two windows.
My biggest complaint about Norman is that he is EXTREMELY slow. I don't know how other reviewers haven't mentioned this. I understand that it can take some time to make sure a curtain rod is level, but Norman isn't slow because he is being meticulous; he is just slow. It took him several hours to install two curtain rods and hang two small curtains above two small windows.
He also was careless. Despite pointing out which windows he should hang curtains above, he hung one set of curtains over the wrong window and then said that I told him to hang the curtains over that window, which I did not. When he removed the curtain rod, it left holes in the wall which had to be filled in and repainted.

Norman completed a variety of projects, and I am satisfied. Nothing was that complicated, but Norman's price was good, and my husband was relieved not to have to do the projects himself. He installed a wall-mounted shower rod and two curtain rods, painted two doors, and installed two LED retrofit lights. He warned me that the tiles might crack when the shower rod is screwed in, but we gave him the go ahead, and there was no cracking. Also, we didn't have enough paint, and he went out and bought more. He did his work quietly and cleaned up well afterwards.

Norman is super sweet and was able to get out to take a look @ our garbage disposal the next day!
He even pre-bought the disposal ahead of time in case we actually needed to replace it (which, unfortunately, we did) and it saved us a trip to the hardware store. Other guys will mark up the prices to an unfair advantage where Norman provided us the fair receipt from the store. He was completely honest in his descriptions and the prices are fair for doing great work.
Do yourself a favor and call Norman. You won't regret it and will sleep well at night knowing you have found a trustworthy handyman!

We needed to have some external painting done after having some stucco work around the newly installed patio doors. Norman finished the job and made suggestions along the way - matching the paint, how long to let the paint dry, when he would come back to check, etc.
We are very happy with his work and his prices. We have used Norman in the past when installing an A/C unit in one of our bedroom windows - great job!

My home in Daly City was out of Norman's range of service, so he referred me to Ray. I had Ray come secure some Ikea bookshelves to the studs in my office. He was courteous, quick to respond via text/phone, and kept me updated on when he would arrive. When we realized that the project would be more involved than initially thought, he worked with me on a simple solution (with a couple alternate options). I am very satisfied with the work Ray did.

Norman fixed a few things around the house, holes on the wall, on the ceiling, and damaged outside wooden panels and window frames. He explained what needs to be done first and then took many trips around my schedule to get the job done. He is on-time and very responsive to emails. Norman is a nice person and a great professional. I highly recommend him!
