So, after my initial review, Norman called me that same day. He was apologetic and said everything you could want, and then some. He asked what he could do to get the review taken down, and offered to compensate me for it, which I thought was a bit odd. I said I hadn't paid him anything, to which he replied that time was money and I'd had my time wasted. I politely declined, and said that really the only thing that would make me want to take down the review was if the job got done, which it hadn't been. He agreed that this was reasonable and said he'd put me in touch with another one of his handymen, a better one. Which, again, I thought was a little odd since it begs the question why I was initially put in touch with an apparently less capable handyman. I'm given to understand that this better handyman is licensed and therefore in greater demand. I said that this would be fine, I just wanted the job done. We agreed and Norman said he'd have his guy get in touch.

That was 12 weeks ago today, and was the last time I heard from anyone at San Mateo Handyman. I'm starting to think that maybe they're not gonna call. Anyways, previously I'd given them two stars, with that second star being because I thought that, if nothing else, they did a good job communicating. Obviously that's out the window now.

I looked for a handyman to repair/replace a floor board in our house that was rotten. I looked in yelp to find a Handyman close to our place in Belmont and found Norman. He got a lot of good reviews and after working with him I now understand why. When I contacted him he replied in a timely manner and I explained him the problem. He gave me an appointment only 2 days after my initial contact. He showed up in time to have a look at the project and took the time to analyze what could be the potential reason for the fact that the floorboard was rotten. He gave me very useful recommendations about where water could have potentially have entered the house and what I can do to avoid it in the future. He gave me another appointment to install a new floor board. Because our house is older, it wasn't easy to find a floorboard with the same profile, but Norman somehow was able to find it. He could have just told me that we would need to accept a floorboard that doesn't fit 100%, but I got the impression that Norman really wants to do a perfect job so he went the extra mile to find a floorboard with the identical profile.
For the installation, he again showed up in time, but unfortunately the corner of the existing floorboard was not cut exactly at the right angle, so the new floorboard didn't fit. That was by no means Norman's fault but the fault of the person who installed the old floor board. Because Norman is a perfectionist, he wants to do it right and said he would need to trim the new floorboard accordingly, so that it would fit perfectly. He did exactly that, painted everything nicely and now it looks perfect !
Thank you, Norman, for a work really well done. I am sure I will contact you again for any new project I will have in my house !

I was in desperate need to find a handyman/electrician who can replace my bathroom vent. Norman came by to assess the work and offered to provide consolation for me to do the work to save time and money. He worked with me for countless of hours but this job was over my head since I've never installed one and don't have the correct tools. Norman was very detailed and focused on doing the work correctly. He provided key advice for someone who's never performed this job to be successful. He acted as a great motivator and encouraged me to not quit. Unfortunately, I was at the end of my skill. He referred me to Ray who completed the job. Ray was very thorough and will not compromise quality for time or $$$. He found more issues and corrected them as he does not like to leave the job knowing things aren't correct. Ray gave great options and the final result was perfect. We are very pleased with the quality work Ray did. I would highly recommend SAN MATEO HANDYMAN if you need a handyman....

Working with Norman is great and I highly recommend him. His services are priced very reasonably. He came over to asses a window sill problem which he fixed right away, and also addressed a mildew problem at the same time. I'll definitely be contacting him again for anything that might come up in the future.

Experienced a property owner nightmare -- ceiling crack that after evaluation turned out to be a leak. Norman from the start was a great advisor from the start guiding and proving helpful information at each step. While we didn't use him for the leak evaluation, he helped directing us to a plumber (when it was urgently needed), then there to help with the repair once leak was repaired.

During the repair process, he set expectations and was always very communicative and through regarding price and information that would help guide in the best decision. Instead of rushing the process, was very patient and committed to completing the very best job. I'm so glad to have found him and will certainly use him again!

Needed to have a very slow draining bathroom sink fixed. Received a speedy and polite response from the owner that they did not do this type of service. I appreciated the response so this review is for them being so quick to reply. (Still looking for a plumber.)
