We received a quote over the phone for unclogging a kitchen sink, which was way better than another quote we had received. We had tried on our own removing the drainpipe and snaking the clogged material, but couldn't unclog the gunk all the way. Jovarre from San Jose Drain and Main came out when they said they would be there and did a professional job cleaning the drain. He even found and replaced a connector piece that was bad for the same price we were initially quoted.
San Jose Drain and Main will be our ""go to"" plumber in the future.

Giovanni came to my home three times for different things, within a 4 month period. He was honest, polite, efficient, and considerate on aesthetics.

November 2021: I found a large water stain in the wall of my garage and feared for pipe leakage within the walls. I also had various issues with plumbing in one of the bathrooms so I thought it was time to call someone to take a look. I called San Jose Main and Drain to set up an appointment and they were very responsive. Instead of advising me to knock down parts of the wall or upsell me on various services, he just investigated and informed me the leak was likely made a few years back and fixed by the previous homeowner. He also replaced an old faulty shower cartridge for a relatively inexpensive price.

December 2021: The new shower cartridge turned out to be a lemon and the faucet started dripping water slowly one month in. I texted Giovanni's business number to come replace it and he did so within 2 days. As the cartridge is a manufacturer issue, he just charged me $22 for the materials and did not charge me for labor.

February 2022: I decided to install a Nuvo water softener to increase the longevity of my home's copper water pipes and water heater. I texted Giovanni's business number to set up an appointment on Monday and he came 3 days later to set it up. The whole process took about 4 hours, and 1) he noticed there was a pipe going from my home to my neighbor (neighbor was using my water without me knowing) so he offered to also set up a shut off valve free of charge and 2) it took some time to drain water coming from upstairs and rearrange some of the piping and to make the whole system look smart. He also installed a valve so I can connect a hose to wash my car for free.

I appreciate his thoughtfulness and care for my property.

TL;DR: The 600+ 5-star reviews are real. Giovani is for real. He really knows his stuff, is efficient with GREAT attention to detail, provides very competitive rates (providing an estimate based on a photo I texted him in my case), and goes the extra mile when he gets a curve-ball. Look no further for a fantastic plumber!

With no plumber referrals from friends or neighbors, I turned to Yelp to get a few estimates to replace my water pressure regulator and main shut-off valve (in a tight spot between the sidewalk and the wall of my house). SJ Drain and Main was my first call based on the reviews and photos of similar work that I needed done. Giovani answered the phone, asked me to text him a picture, and he'd respond with a price estimate. I took a quick photo, and he responded with an estimate range within 10 minutes. I confirmed he's licensed and bonded, then waited for a few hours for others to get back to me. Other responses ranged from estimates near and well above Giovani's, to wanting to charge me for them to come by to take a look for an estimate(!). I got on Giovani's schedule for the next day.

He arrived within his stated time window, and after a bit of discussion on options, he got to work. He finished in about 90 minutes, and I confirmed everything was working properly in the house afterwards. He moved onto my neighbor's place to do the same replacement (my neighbor mentioned having the same issue to me while I was scheduling Giovani, so we booked him for both jobs at the same stop). About an hour later, I turned on a faucet and only a trickle came out...uh oh! Luckily, Giovani was still at my neighbor's finishing up, so I asked him to come take a look when he was done there. He ended up troubleshooting the blockage for about an hour before clearing it, with no obvious root cause, unfortunately. He had a great attitude throughout troubleshooting the issue, explained what he was doing (including sharing some crazy stories), and genuinely cared to get things working properly, whether the issue stemmed from his repair or was completely unrelated.

Anyone who asks will be getting a plumbing referral from me!
