At 14, the owner embarked on his journey in the trades. He acquired skills through practical experience. It was usual to become proficient in multiple trades and their components. Nowadays, most people specialize in one or two areas of a trade. Finding well-rounded skills is becoming uncommon.
In 1978, Carwin earned a Drafting degree from Solano Community College. He then worked for a prominent Custom Builder, gaining insights into the office side of construction. Later, he was hired as a Superintendent for a Developer. In 1982, he went back to school for a degree in Electronics from Heald Institute and entered the Manufacturing Industry, where he swiftly advanced to Plant Superintendent/International Service Manager. In 1986, he missed working outdoors and re-entered the construction field. He started as a General Contractor with a B license and now holds a C-36, C-42, and a C-20 as Same Day Service Plumbing, Heating & AC.

I have recently started assisting my grandmother with her home finances and and upkeep. She has always used these folks in the past for her plumbing needs. Unfortunately for same day, this is about to change.
So far they have replaced the main line from the street to the home and have also replaced a bathroom sink and toilet. The main line installation was some ridiculously huge amount of money, easily 5% of the value of the whole house and the bathroom work was a couple of grand on top of that. Today I was quoted $700 - $1200 to install a new kitchen faucet, when you consider it is a $100 part, that is some ridiculous labor charges.
Going forward we are going to find a vendor with more reasonable prices.

I was given an estimate of $14,000 with ""discounts"" to replace 20 feet of sewer line. I literally cried when I got the estimate from this company. Where am I going to come up with $14,000?
Get a second opinion always! The city provides an upper lateral replacement program and my actual costs make these guys look like crooks. Shame on you if you know this program is available and didn't say a word. There is actually 40 feet that will be replaced.
It's unfortunate that the plumber who Same Day Service sent told me he ""doesn't usually work that hard for their $89 special"" and it clogged up 3 days later. I advised when I first called my clean out is on the roof and we wanted to camera the line. He couldn't do either because he said he didn't have the equipment.
In addition, my gas wall heater pilot won't stay lit. They sent a heat tech out and he tried 3x's to keep it lit. When it failed, he said it was my gas valve that needed to be replaced, took the number for the heater down and said they would get back to me. Still haven't gotten a reply. In addition, the estimate he gave me to replace the wall heater was exorbitant-$5,000. It's just a simple wall heater that doesn't even have an in-wall thermostat. Absolute robbery. Thank goodness it was no cost for him to come out and try to light the pilot & look at the heater. that was one plus.
Unfortunately, I can't give any recommendation to use this company. This company should go back to basics. Take pride in your work and what you take from people.
I recommend always getting a second opinion. I knew something didn't seem fair in pricing by Same Day Service. Call Advanced Trenchless/Up2Code Plumbing before you use this company. My friend referred me and it was a blessing. I cried tears of joy the way I was treated. They were just coming to do an estimate and ended up clearing my line, putting a camera and auger from my roof down the line. They made sure I could be comfortable in my home that I literally was staying out of because it was so backed up. They found the problems and the solution.
Sorry Same Day Service. Thumbs down.

THese guys are WAY WAY WAY overpiced! Get another estimate!
We recently purchased a home in Vacaville and we tore out the Tub surround to put in a new tub and tile. After much maneuvering (which is the really only polite word I could come up with) and cutting we got the 5' tub in a 5' 3/4 space. NOT EASY.
But we found that instead of putting the copper pipe THRU the stud, the original builder put it in front of the stud. This meant that the support on the new tub was resting on it and it had to be moved. ALSO, the new tub's overflow and drain holes didn't match.
We messed with it long enough and called a professional.
Corky from Same day came out and was very pleasant, clean and was there within 15 minutes as promised.
I figured it would be worth the $200 - $300 to let a professional do this change. Maybe 1 hour at the MOST. If I could solder and had the PVC i really could have done this myself..
OMG.......
The cost to install the tub - $2,800. UM, WHAT? But that's with a 5 year warranty.
If you do the work right, why do I need a warranty?
The cost to JUST RE-ROUT A COPPER PIPE from the open, exposed wall.... $478.
The cost to install the new PVC drain and overflow $848.
You are kidding me, right?
I asked Corky - How long does this take that would make this SO expensive? He politely told me that it was a set fee.
okay, a set fee with an open exposed wall? with a tub that can be taken in and out?
$2,800 to install a tub when there is nothing to remove?
Forget the tub.. now we are talking about $1,300 to reroute a pipe from one outside the stud to thru the tub? and redo the drain?
Then Corky told me it would be best to install the tub in a mortar bed and he was just trying to be helpful
No, thank you very much Corky.
I was thinking how could this company possibly be in business with these rates in this economy! AND in this retirement community?????
I called Twan at All Star Plumbing. $370 parts and labor and he did a whole bunch more than re-routing the pipe (which took 20 minutes) and putting on the tub drain (which took about an hour). He moved the pipes up so they would be easier to reach, helped us get the right new faucet, etc. and even waited while we ran to home depot for the right drain.
I cannot comment on Same Day's work, but wow.... get another estimate first and once again - if you do your work correctly, why would i need a warranty?

Damn near $4000 to repair a toilet by Same Day Service Plumbing. Are you kidding me ?! Another plumber came in and did the job for $175. Watch out people!

This company's employees were very prompt, polite and professional and they had good follow-up. Jovani's service was above and beyond what I had expected from a plumber. He took extra time to carefully clean off some glue on my new sink (left over from a label), checked out all the plumbing in my house even though I had hired him to do only certain jobs, pointed out potential problems, offered money-saving advice and left my house spotless. I had used another plumbing company several months ago and it's employee looked like someone I didn't even want in my house and his workmanship was so bad, some of the work had to be redone. It was a pleasure to have Jovani and Roy in my home. I highly recommend this company!

I set an appointment to get an estimate for a water line to be made to my fridge. They quoted me $3,200....i think not! I had a friend do it for $150. I will not be calling on them ever again!

Plain and simple, the technicians are top notch. They can and will do a great job for you. However the business model is flawed, you will get presented with all these discounts and freebies to try an establish value, but the fact is the company charges out of a flat rate book that is based off $425 an hour. It use to be $350. The most expensive company in the area by nearly double. My suggestion, call them out and ask the tech to side job!!!!!!!!

I had a stopped up toilet and the technician took one look and proceeded to write up an estimate sheet that had four options. The first two were for installing new toilets - both over $1,000.
Their estimate for cleaning out the toilet was four times what I eventually paid another company (local - one guy) that came and charged by the hour.
Tip - don't go with companies that try to charge a ridiculous flat rate or try to push crazy options out of line with what you need. Some companies are trained to do that and will prey on those they perceive as vulnerable.
If their story seems out of line it probably is.

I had a leaky faucetin the back of my house and at the time I didn't have away to turn off the main at my house, so I called Same Day Plumbing and was told it would need to be cut off and replaced, which would have cost me roughly $300 to have them do. I told them no thanks and decided to take some time a look at it my self closer, this did not need to be cut off just unscrewed and replaced, cost me $60 told for the main shot off key and parts to do it my self. So be aware that they may charge you do work that is not necessary to be done.

Find someone else -- find anyone else. Horribly overpriced (repair costs are pre-set, not based on actual time spent) and there is NO negotiating on what they charge. I made the mistake once of calling them in for a plumbing repair. Never again!
