I wish i have seen their ratings before calling them in. I called them to see if they can install an ecoflow panel for me. guess what they quoted me 6900$.
they charged me 99$ for the visit. what a joke of a company. claiming themselves no.1 in austin area.

Used them for installing a new electrical outlet and was pleased. I was skeptical when they wanted to "inspect for safety" before starting the work. I had them complete one of the things they recommended in addition to what I had them out for. Became a Salt member so we would have a plumber/electrician available when needed.
So regret wasting the money. Jad them out today for a slow draining sink. They spent an hour taking pictures and doing inspections. From there, three options with no guarantee any would solve the problem. One of the options was $4,000. Had them leave before doing the work. I'll call someone who isn't trying to find revenue opportunities.
Wish I had believed other reviews. Beware, these guys are looking to UPSELL!!!

I have been a big fan of this company until just lately.
Now I am experiencing one customer service snafu after another. For example: I was just stood up for an appointment despite 3 calls to the customer service person from me throughout the afternoon to confirm that I was available. (I missed the technician's one and only call earlier today in which he did not leave a voice mail or number that I could return the call to.)
When I received an estimate on another job, it took days and several phone calls to the tech before I was finally connected to a manager to get my questions answered.
Doesn't seem like the same place anymore.

Do NOT sign up for the service contract. You cannot cancel and they are woefully over priced. They cannot send plumbing and AC contractors out together and they give you a 4 hour range.

I have waited a very long time to leave this review since I have been very angry and know SALT took advantage me of during the ice storm in January earlier this year. The subdivision had above ground utility lines and a tree limb with ice on it broke and pulled wire out of an exterior electrical panel. Salt said they HAD to put in a new panel which took maybe 4+ hours and they charged just shy of $10,000. I thought the bid was OUTRAGEOUS but what could I do, the home was without electricity.

Live in Austin and have 2 Carrier units. One AC unit broke down in 107 degree weather and needed service. Called SALT and they charged $189.00 just to "diagnose" one unit. They did not perform any repairs. They were thorough int their diagnosis, lots of pictures and information. But they quoted me outrageous prices like $400.00 to vacuum water in the attic pan. Did it myself in 5 minutes with a bucket and rag. Then they gave me pricing options that were double or triple the average repair costs. The whole time I felt like I was being scammed. Like going to an auto shop and they "find" problems to fix not related to the service needed. SALT pulled out my vent filters and did not replace them. Anyway - I am getting a 2nd or 3rd opinion on AC repair or replacement. So still without AC, in the meantime I had to go and get portable AC units. SALT wasted my time when I could have had another company already doing repairs, or replacement for a reasonable cost. Also SALT is NOT Texas BBB Accredited - look it up. Will not be calling them again for any services. Have had similar experience with plumbers, charge a non-refundable service fee , don't fix anything, then try and upsell you on water conditioners when all you need is a simple faucet fixed.

So we decided to sign with salt for a "membership" after they helped with an electrical thing since they also do plumbing and hvac.
On every visit they found some expensive issue that needed urgent help, with premium pricing to go with it.
This last round they mentioned our water heater expansion tank needed replacing and charged $150 to relight the pilot. They wanted $600 for an expansion tank replacement. They confirmed the parts were roughly $50 and it took less than an hour to do.
Well, we called Proven for a second opinion. They charged $57 for the service call and confirmed the expansion tank is fine- but they charge under $300 for the replacement. They also came out faster.
Overall this company was sarcastic, claimed I "just wanted lower pricing" when I challenged them on the quote and otherwise were the opposite of trustworthy and helpful. Skip this company.

Two waaay negative experiences with this company. 1st time they came and tried to just upsell us did nothing to take care of the problem just said we needed a new water heater. Got a second opinion and Turns out we did not need a new water just the temperature valve in our shower was stuck. Charged us 100$ to come out even though they were promoting a 49$ service call. 2nd time i was super skeptical so i did my due diligence up there and guess what!? They did nothing they told us they had done example drain my AC pan and "tune up" my system. Tech literally just sat up there and very lightly just cleaned the pvc drain pipe and just sat up there. I HAVE PROOF!!! I should show this to someone maybe the news! They are supposed to be taking care of us in this heat! Didn't do anything but try and charge us $1600 to "clean the system " didnt wipe down the obvious or even take the time to fix anything he possibly could. I mean you were already out here!!!! Be careful with this company and always get a second opinion. All this with the company "INSURANCE" what a joke. Tech was super nice though but dont need nice needed it fixed.

Shame of you, SALT
Very disappointed by their bait & switch tactics. We received an email stating that their electricians were going to be in our area and that they were waiving their "dispatch fee" of $99.00. I made an appointment to see what it would take to have electricity run down to the pond to place an aerator. When they called to confirm their arrival on the day of the appointment, I told them I would also wanted the light fixtures repaired in the garage. I was informed that I would be charged a "diagnostic fee." I asked if they would apply the diagnostic fee against the cost of repair if I were to have them do the repair. I was told no.
What is this? You waive the "dispatch" fee but then are going to charge me for a "diagnostic" fee? That's BS.
I had a great appointment with them to get a quote on installing a $35,000 generator/propane gas/electric panel replacement project and was looking forward to doing business with them.
Needless to say, I will never use SALT in the future and will let everyone in my real estate investor group know of their bait and switch tactics. SALT, you were neither Salt nor light. You left a bad taste in my mouth!!

$289.00 "diagnostic fee" required for electrical work PLUS the cost of any actual repair? Sending out "No Dispatch Fee" e-mails "because we have electricians in the area" is just scummy marketing.
