I have used SALT recently (2025) for cleaning a dryer vent (dryer to roof) and reviewing wall switches. They DO charge a $99 fee to have someone come out with a van for any potential work, it's non-refundable, and is not included in scope of work. I have found a LOT of businesses in the area do this. Garrett, who assisted with my dryer vent cleaning, as well as Pete did an amazing job! They were knowledgeable, courteous, professional, and showed up ON TIME. From the last job, I signed up to their monthly subscription service, and so the $99 fee is waived when they come out to scope work, which is very convenient. 4 months worth of SALT = 1 time fee. The professionalism of the staff as well as the knowledge and the work really set them apart from other companies I've worked with. I've been extremely happy with them thus far.

SALT CHARGED $800 FOR 1-HOUR OF BASIC ELECTRICAL WORK!

I was going to do the work myself, but thought I would save some time and hire an expert. (I'm 65). Vincent, the SALT tech, was professional, pleasant and did great work. However, I was charged $800.04 to: (1) Replace an existing ceiling light with a new light I provided, and (2) Install/replace four wall light switches, I also provided. When he gave me the estimate, I was too shocked and embarrassed to admit it was so expensive, plus he was already there, so I approved of the work. But they will NOT be coming back. My wife is gonna kill me....

Initially, I also requested Vicent to replace two wired smoke alarms, with two new wired alarms I provided. That was going to cost $200 per alarm - just to connect the alarm to existing wires!

Therefore, the initial estimate was $1,200. Yikes! Luckily, there was no "communication" wire in the two ceiling locations, so the new alarms were not installed, and I saved $400.

To summarize, SALT replaced a ceiling light with one I provided, (10-15 minutes at most), then replaced four wall light switches with four new light switches I provided (maybe an average of 10 minutes each x 4). So, Vincent, after all the promotions and very basic "courtesy inspection" made a cool $800 for an hour's work!

Finally, I didn't know SALT was a "religious" reference - would never have called if I did.

I called this company to fix the light in my garage because I'm selling my house and closing in two days. I've already moved out of the Austin area, about a 5-hour drive away, so maybe I should've kept that to myself when I hired them. Regardless, the person I spoke to on the phone was very professional and polite, which was reassuring.

The technician arrived at my house on time and was very professional as well. I explained that the garage light wasn't turning on. My realtor had already replaced the light bulb, but it didn't fix the issue. I assumed the wall switch might need to be replaced. After a few minutes, the technician called me back and sent me a few invoices for the repair options.

The first invoice was to replace the wall switch for $129, plus a $99 trip fee. I thought it was a bit expensive, but fair enough. However, they also quoted a $500 troubleshooting fee if replacing the switch didn't fix the issue and offered to sell me a diagnostic service. I'm no electrician, but I felt confident the problem was the switch since the bulb replacement didn't work.

Then came another invoice--this one for $2,300! It included optional services like installing a whole-home surge protection device, replacing an in-wall digital timer, and installing a 4-foot LED strip fixture. I assume these were recommendations because my house was built in 2006, but wow, that was a lot to process. It reminded me of taking a car in for an oil change and getting a list of recommended services that included an engine replacement. LOL.

I told the technician to just replace the wall switch, and sure enough, that fixed the problem. I don't usually write reviews, but I wanted to share my experience. While they were professional and efficient, the upselling was a bit much for me. If you're considering using them, just be prepared for some extra recommendations along the way!

A smoke detector started beeping, so I had someone remove it and determined that it was faulty. He said I needed an electrician to replace it and the smoke detector batteries in the remainder of the house. I called Salt because it is listed in Williamson County, Best Pick Reports. They came, did a whole house check and convinced me that I also needed 2 breakers replaced. My call was regarding a smoke detector plus 5 batteries (which I supplied). They also replaced 4 light bulbs in the same room, (which I supplied). And when you include 2 breakers (which they supplied) the total cost was $1,150.00 This was extremely expensive. The men were nice and polite, but he talked so fast with all the details, I had to ask him to explain it several times. I am 78 years old and I did not understand all the ins and outs. I asked for options and the costs and totals, and I was totally floured at the costs of everything. Very, very, very expensive.

The co is shady in their business practice; they charge a fee to show up, fine, its a business, they've got to make money. BUT they want you to pay BEFORE they do any work or even give you an estimate, for that matter. WHO does that? that's just wrong. Then they go out to their van to write up an estimate, WTH, I don't want to hire them after that. I already don't trust them, hell no, i'm not giving them my business.

I'm writing this review as they're writing the estimate outside in their van.

Horrible, extremely expensive, not worth it. Also, they double charge your service billing and lie about it, then they refuse to discontinue billings no matter how many times you tell them to stop.

This company is a scam, charged $99 to come out to clear kitchen drain, did NOTHING but tell us it would be $800, to clear a drain come on that is highway robbery. $99 Down the drain with this company.

We have used SALT for our electrical and HVAC needs. Their electrical side of business has this far been awesome because of the one tech we have used since tje beginning OJ aka Oscar.
The HVAC has been a nightmare from the time we had the new system installed. We have had a tech out to fix something with our new AC unit at least 2 1/2 - every 3 months. I've had a tech (Richard) make me cry on more than one occasion. Granted he's no longer there but most interactions leave me in tears because they don't hold up to their side of what they say. Basically they are liars.
I had an experience yesterday with Johnny. I woke up to go to the restroom at midnight and heard a drip. Though it was possibly from the faucet. Walked to the sink and stepped in a large puddle of water. Looked up and water was dripping from the ceiling. Woke my husband up and we went upstairs and the was a steady/fast drip from the AC unit and everything was drenched and there was a 2 inch puddle of standing water. I called SALT (at midnight) and left a message . I called again at 8:08am and was put through to Johnny who said we would be put on the urgent to high priority list and that after the tech came out they would send out the sheet rock guy. This threw me a bit because we've had a lot of work and holes have been left because "they don't do Sheetrock". I even said "oh wow, y'all do Sheetrock now?" And he said yes. At 9:59 I called again to see where we fell on the list because I figured being this was urgent/high priority someone would been out already and I had doctors appointments in the afternoon. Like taking my dad to chemo and having an infusion myself. I was told 11-2pm. Now I have to figure out what to do about our appointments. 1:56pm the tech calls to say he's 45 minutes away. Arrives ar 3:06. I called Johnny at 2;22 and said you know it's getting late, is the Sheetrock guy still coming out! He said yes-he promised. They just have to verify the water damage is in fact from the AC. The tech verified it was from the AC. (I had left to get my daughter from camp). When I got back the tech said Johnny said the Sheetrock guy would be out Monday. I called and spoke to Johnny and he said that the Sheetrock guy is actually an outside contractor and since it was so late he wasn't able to do our job. So Johnny lied about 1. Having a Sheetrock guy working for SALT 2. Lied that all the work would be done yesterday 3. Lied that we were urgent/high priority-he said that other people were scheduled and we were being worked in. When I asked if we got a general contractor to come and do the work SALT would pay for it he said yes so I asked him to email me something that backed that up he said he couldn't do that but to give the person his number and have them email the invoice I laughed because with nothing in writing he could say he never said that and we'd be stuck with the bill.
When I say that a tech has been out to work on our AC unit every 2-3 months since installation I'm
not exaggerating. We've had so many issues I've been asking for the last few months when do that call this a dud and replace it with a system that doesn't require us having to deal with them so often. No response or they talk in circles.
When they were out on the 13th I spoke to Jonny and he said "it looks like there's never been a maintenance done on the unit and that should happen twice a year." So I had to pay for the maintenance. They were out on the 13th because our unit stropped working again.
If I would have known that we were going to have this much trouble not only with the unit but with the turnover rate, the way issues are handled with SALT and how we are spoken to we would NEVER have gone with them.

Performed the service promptly and on time and at a huge premium. Wanted to look around my home to see what else they could do. Also asked 3 times if I'd like the annual plan with monthly premiums. First and last time for Salt.

This company has driven me nuts. So many little and big things. Scattered some trash in the attic, some trash by the meter. They did not turn the water to drip irrigation system back on after turning it off to install water heater and some landscaping died. I didn't realize because irrigation usually runs at night. The water heater they installed had a GAS LEAK that smelled up the whole house and scared me but they said it was "factory not tightening something." Gees, don't you check all the pipes and connections for leaks before you leave? Now there's a part that is putting off moisture and turning off the water heater every few weeks. We have to go up in the attic and fix it. They are not inexpensive probably average but so exasperating. They are nice folks but I'd not use them again.
