Peggy B.Installed a new furnace on Friday. They were on time and the technicians were courteous. They moved the new furnace to make the filter easier to change except now there's a hole in the floor (they said it was the air exchange). Now I worry about what might crawl into the house from that hole. If I start having invaders of the critter kind they will have to come back and reposition the furnace so that the hole is covered. By the way- I found out they did this after they had finished the installation.
Liming G.Our kitchen drain was blocked. I had a recommendation from a friend to use Sal's Heating & Cooling. Making the appointment was easy and the service guy showed up as scheduled. He checked the pipe, told us that he couldn't be sure that he fixed the block, but he could try to use the spring drain cleaner. After he tried it, he put kitchen drain set back and turned on the water, still blocked. When he put the drain set back and used the wrench to close the connections, he did too hard dand broke one of connections. So when he turned on the water, drain set was leaking. He was frustrated. He was hoping that turning on the water would make the water go through the pipe in the basement. Unfortunately it wasn't the case. The he said that there was another way to try by using something to pressure the blocked stuff through, but he didn't have the tool with him. Then he said that he could come to try it later, but it would cost another $55+. I already paid $73 (the discount through Groupon) for him to come to fix the issue. Apparently the money and time was wasted. I will never use their service again.
From the initial phone call to to the technician, everyone was great. Had a toilet replaced the day after i made my initial call. They called when they were on their way so i could get things done without having to stay at home from 12 to 5 loke others..will definitely use them again
I used the services for a garbage disposal replacement. I called the company to inquiry about the current Groupon offer and possible disposal upgrades.
When following up with dispatch regarding my appointment, I was on hold for over 5 minutes and was hung up on. The customer service was poor.
The technician was quick and efficient.
Thanks for your response Sal. It's appreciated. You are absolutely right, we can always call back, which I did and was disconnected a second time, which forced me to call back a third time-- when I was transferred to someone who was unaware of my customer order. I understand that things happen, if and when an employee is ""overwhelmed"" (with a switch board due to the holiday and lack of staff as I was told) and hangs up on ""paying customers"" they should call the customer back.
The silver lining is that my garbage disposal has been replaced. Thank you!
Thank you again for the additional response. I appreciate the research. To clarify, I was hung up on twice, as I had to call three times. The point of me mentioning my wait time is that I returned the techs call within a minute of missing the two back to back calls and listening to the voicemail. Maybe there should be an option to call the tech back directly opposed to getting routed to the office and being placed on hold. As it relates to the tech being 30 minutes away, I was told the tech calls the customer about 30 minutes prior to heading to the job-- which has nothing to do with me questioning being hung up on twice and would be what I was told to expect when I booked the service. If you or the reception feels it does that's your opinion-- but it surely does not negate the poor service and being hung up on with no call back might I add. So Before you do more research my second call was placed on a phone ending in 0808.
What I do not appreciate it going back and forth on a review with a business owner who's employee made a mistake and keeps trying to find a way to invalidate facts and my review. Do better next time and if I choose to call back, I would love to experience some of this stellar customer service that you're speaking of.
Happy Holidays! Best wishes to you and your staff!
I would never ever use them again. After having a problem with something they installed, they came back to check to see if it had been installed incorrectly. They never told me it would be a $100 service charge. When I complained, they said they record every call and would go back and check. They went back and listened to the call, said they couldn't confirm that they'd told me about the service charge but charged me anyway.
Luciana S.I utilized this company a week ago when my heat stopped working. I had done quite a bit of troubleshooting ahead of time and could not figure out the problem. I called and spoke a lady at 10:43 pm that routed my call to a technician that [should] have called me shortly after. I didn't hear back so at 11:23 pm I called back. The second time around I was promptly contacted by a technician. Unfortunately, the technician was 60 minutes away.
12:23 am the technician arrives and effectively troubleshoots the problem and replaces a defective part. I was able to pay with my card and sign all the paperwork electronically on the company's tablet at 1:12 am, which made for a speedy exit after the work was done.
Had it not taken 2 hours and 29 minutes from call in to repair complete, this company would have gotten 5 stars. I would use them again and I would recommend them, especially because they are 24/7 with a wide service area.
We had Sal's come out to check out why our furnace was not turning on. They did a good job of diagnosing the problem (the thermostat had died), and installed a new thermostat quickly. All that was fine.
My complaint and disappointment was in the pricing and how it was presented. When the repairman told me that the thermostat had failed, he told me he had a similar thermostat in his truck, and could replace it now. He said the cost of the thermostat, installed, would be about $200.
After installation, he said the total would be $308. I was surprised, but didn't really question it that much at the time -- assuming that the additional $100 was for the service call itself (which was disappointing -- I would assume that the ""service call"" charge would also cover the labor of installing something, especially since the actual installation of the thermostat took, maybe, 5 minutes). But, fine, I paid it. After he left, I looked up the retail price of the exact thermostat, and I can buy it -- at retail -- for $69. So, the installation labor and service charge combined must have been, basically, $240. I couldn't tell for sure, however, because the receipt they emailed me stated (1) service call and (1) thermostat, with no line item prices -- just the total of $308.
When I called them the next day for clarification, they were not particularly interested at all in talking about it. The guy stated, in a deeply condescending tone, that ""any time a repairman comes to your house, there will be a service charge applied,"" and implied that I was foolish even to question it or to want specifics on the invoice. No offer was made to either adjust or explain anything.
Bottom line: they did a good job of diagnosing the problem, but A) the lack of transparency as to what it was going to cost me when I agreed to the work, B) the lack of information as to what I had actually paid for the work, and C) the lack of dialogue or even interest in discussing it with me when I called them later leads me to state uncategorically that I will not be using them again.
John C. From Sal's came to my house on 10/8. I needed a plain old main water line to the vault at the street, 20 feet away. John said he'd give me a quote on 10/9. I didn't receive a quote on 10/9 and gave them a couple days. Some people get busy. I called Sal's on 10/11 (Friday) to remind them about the quote they promised me. Perhaps it got lost. Nope. It wasn't done. I called Monday ... still not done ... then on Tuesday ... nope, not done ... it's now 4 phone calls and 8 days later and I'm told they will get back to me. When Sal's didn't fulfill their initial promise, I gave them 4 more chances. They obviously are not very interested in new business. Even if I did hire them, who knows how reliable they would be based on my initial contact?
Appointment/scheduling wasn't the best. But repair service was efficient and clean. Would use them again. :-)
Sal's technicians were very professional, very accommodating in being sensitive to our cooling needs and in doing the job of replacing our central unit. They knew how to deal with the warranty company and took the extra step in replacing an overly complicated thermostat with an easy to use one. They cleaned up well as part of the job, they having been hard working through the day yet were available to respond to any questions. In my case they were able to do the job the day after our old unit broke down and they got to the job early in the day to beat the arrival of rain. I would recommend Sal's to any one in need of their services and equipment.
