The tub needs a manual override for the drain. What if you are in it and the power goes off?
We had this tub less than six months and the drain button stopped working . Took awhile before it finally came on. Google said to keep a toilet plunger handy to force the drain.
If I had read the other reviews first FYI I would not have bought this tub.
I fear for seniors trapped in this tub.
KEEP your phone handy to call for help if in the tub!!

Elder abuse. Salesman told my mother she would get the use of her legs back with this tub. $28,000! For a tub! Made false promises, and ridiculously overcharged her. Two years later and my crippled mom has died, and I find out how Safe Step had deceived her. Shameful and greedy. Order number 281421, installation in Vancouver WA.

Let me tell you about the experience my parents, and by extension, I've had with this company.
We got a tub in late March 2022 to help my father with leg pain and have something safe. While our tub was being installed, the installers almost got into a fistfight in the driveway. My mother was close to calling the cops. They finally finished, and some drywall needed to be fixed, which Safe Step said they would cover. Great! It was so uncomfortable.
The first bath, well... it didn't drain quickly. In fact, it took over 30 minutes to drain at the normal drain speed. I'm not sure how that is quick. We called and had the same guy who installed the tub come out and insisted it was fine. Guess what, it wasn't! We had to call again, which was an endless back and forth. Finally, someone came and provided what seemed like a fix.
Okay, it worked for maybe two months. At that point, it wouldn't hold water. The only way to hold water was to put something very heavy on the drain. During this time, we also still hadn't the wall fixed. They were, to put it simply, completely ignoring us.
After calling every single number, I could find, I finally got someone to listen. They confused me with another customer and proceeded to snap at me for duplicity. They never bothered to look up our address vs. another family with the same last name (Maxwell). I know, shocking! There is more than one Maxwell in the state of Washington!
In September, I reminded them of all of our issues, including that we were told our check would not be cashed until we were happy. They cashed it well before we were happy.
After endless back and forth, the wall was finally fixed. However, we kept experiencing issues with the tub. We sent letters to the company's president by certified mail in early October. After that, we got some calming lip service but no actual service until December 14th. (Please note that the serviceman was lovely but was delayed by a family emergency, which no one at Safe Step informed us of, making me feel like a horrible person being pushy.)
If you want the tl:dr version - They have horrific customer service and treat customers like pests, and you have to beat down the door to get help. The tub, when it works right, is great, but Safe Step Tub is horrific to deal with and has left us highly disheartened.

In July of 2021, recovering from surgery for a fractured humorous in June, we signed up for a walk-in tub and two remodeled showers from Safe Step Tubs Northwest. During the 2.5-hour sales pitch we were assured the tub would help with healing, relaxing and probably improving sleep. We were hesitant about the tub (due to cost) but included it in the order. Wish we hadn't.
After assurances that all this would be completed in a timely manner, the installation day occurred October 14th, 2021 (yes, almost 3 months later). The tub did work that first day. Upon trying it for the first time I realized it was a waste of money. I also realized why all the pictures of walk-in tubs have short women in the pictures (not sure how many men would fit), in order to submerge my shoulder (I had now completed PT and had full range of motion) I needed to contort myself to get it under water. Yes, I'm flexible and can do it but I would not recommend this position for relaxing, and many 74-year-olds probably would have given up trying. The next day however the tub stopped working. We called. The installer (great guy) immediately came out, identified the problem and ordered a new part. That took about a month for the part to come in. Sometime in November of 2021 the new part was installed and worked that day. Later that night it didn't. I called the installer who came out and ordered yet another part. He put a rush on the order, so we expected it to come much sooner this time. December rolls around and still no part. Calls continued into 2022. By the middle of March 2022, the tub was finally declared fixed. I won't go into the requests made but they were denied by the higher ups. No compensation for the delays or special offers just expectations that the bill be paid. Interesting that they can afford to run full page ads with color most every week in the Sunday paper. It's clear where their priorities are regarding their customers though, sad because I know they can do better. We do like the showers though.

It was a great experience. My mom is getting older and has been wanting a walk in tun for a while now. We met with two companies to see what they offered in quality and of course price. The first company we had over had a good product but the sales guy was super pushy to try and get us to sign right away. Even though we liked the product and the company seemed good, the sales person totally ruined the experience for us.
We met with Bodie from Safe Step, nice enough guy and he was patient with us and answered our questions. The reason we decided to go with them is because they provided the full package from start to finish. Highly recommend!!
