Russell's Heating and Cooling was a good company before they merged with American Mechanical. We have service contracts on our plumbing, heating and air, and generac home generator. Just had the home generator serviced in November. Power went out last night and the generator did not come on. Called the emergency number 3hours ago. Dispatch said a tech would call in route to our house. Still no call. Last time a tech came to our house for a separate issue they were rude. Poor customer service and poor maintenance. Buyer Beware!

Called and scheduled for someone to come out and give a quote for duct cleaning, which they said they do. Guy showed up and sat his car for 10 minutes before coming up to our door. Partly parked off our driveway into our yard and tore up our yard pretty badly. Came inside didn't even look at ducts and started taking apart our AC??? We asked him why and he didn't really give an answer and started going back and forth from his truck to ""gather quotes"" to replace our heating and cooling systems. Left a mess in our house from muddy boots and didn't put everything back together on our system. We after found screws and tape on the floor around it. My husband just ended up just telling him to leave. Just a complete waste of time and left us utterly confused as to what just happened....Won't use or recommend them.

The technician that came into my house after the unit was installed he was very educational and very cooperative on showing me and demonstrating to me the operation of the unit he made sure that my heat was coming out adequately which I appreciate that you took his time he explained everything to me the time he spent in my house less than about an hour and you did everything that made me happy. Unfortunately, I can not, in good faith, recommend Russells to anyone especially senior citizens.
They installed a new HVAC system in my home in December 2022 that has not worked correctly since it was installed. It has been an ongoing battle with them.
In efforts to do everything other than what their own techs and the manufacturing rep has told them would solve the problems, they have made a number of unnecessary modifications to my home.
They have added a register and then removed the ductwork from it. They have removed duct work from an original register and vent. They installed an additional register in my den which has caused the system to even run more and have a differential of 6 degrees in some rooms and 3 degrees in others than what is registered on the thermostat. They have replaced the thermostat 3 times and the ductwork three times.
On the last visit from the manufacturer field service rep, he told myself and Russells on site personnel although the heat pump and air handler are working as they are designed, they are not
working with each other as they should. That is why the system doesn't reach temp and is either running all the time, depending on the degree of the temp increase or decrease outside, or running more than it should otherwise. I have to actually turn the system off to get it to stop running. He stated either the heat pump or both heat pump and air handler would need to be replaced.
This new cost effective system has caused increases in the electric bills and cost a lot more than the system they replaced in my home.
Russells is now stating there is absolutely nothing wrong with the system and refuses to comply with the manufacturer reps findings stated on his last visit to my home. In fact, they are also now stating the manufacturer rep says there is absolutely nothing wrong with the system.
My battle continues. Buyer Beware!!!!!

Used this company for more than 20 years and have bought several AC/heating systems over the years. Was definitely better when it was a privately owned company. Since 2022 they now are part of a NC LLC named ACTA LLC and customer service FAILS. Made an appointment more than a month ago for Fall maintenance. Took vacation time time to be home for their call between 1 and 6. Guess what? They didn't show. They claimed to call 3 days ago to cancel. I had no missed calls, no texts, no emails, no messages. Would you cancel a 5 hour appointment window without getting a human confirmation? They lied and didn't call. My time as a business owner is important; my vacation time is much more valuable than a free maintenance call. They promised a call back today from the ""service manager"". Guess what? No call. Buddy Smith-your company has lost customer service basics.
