Update : They finally get someone out there to finish the work only to tell me the first tech didn't go all the way around the crawl and that I need an entire new duct system that will cost $10,000. The final walkthrough and inspection is in 2 hours. This company is straight trash from top to bottom.

I am selling my house and needed some duct work repair done before the final walkthrough and inspection. They came and did some of the work and said they needed a second person to finish the small amount of work left. They never called to schedule a time to come back out. I called multiple times over a week and half to get scheduled and was told someone would contact me. Nobody ever called me back. I called this Monday which is 3 days before the final inspection and walkthrough and they schedule me for a time after the inspection and walkthrough which doesn't work. The absolute worst communication from a company I have ever dealt with. If I didn't call on Monday I don't know if they ever would have scheduled it. Now the deal might fall through with the buyers because the work isn't complete yet. It's been almost 2 weeks since they first came. I have used them in the past and they were ok but I'm done with them now. Terrible customer service.

I have always used Russell's in the past and it was fine, just normal repairs and stuff. However, less than a year ago I had them install a new mid-level HVAC system that I am still paying off. I have been without AC for two days now in the middle of July and I have to wait 7! more before they have an opening to come service it. They did say they'd waive the diagnostic fee for me so I wouldn't have to pay for the tech to come out ? So, yes my system has a 10 year warrant, but I can't really use it.

I get it. It's summer and a lot of people need assistance, but If you grow your client base you should probably also hire some more technicians to help carry the workload. I'm no CEO, but that sounds like how it's supposed to be done. Now that they have my money, I am getting no service. I do not recommend using this company unless you enjoy sweating a lot.

As far as I'm concerned, garbage. This is your typical, we will give you a yearly plan, come out twice a year, and if you sign on, it will be 39.98 per call vice 79.98 and free if not same day. Haha, but if not, same day be prepared to wait maybe a week for that free call during the hotest weather dear member, after they just came out 3 months ago and inspected. Why not skip the inspection and pay someone 300 to come out the next day, find your leak, fill your refrigerator gas, and skip the yearly twice inspections? You will be better off. This company sold me, and I regret it. I would give a 1 star, but the techs they did send out the first 2 times were nice, not their fault. Have someone you trust come out, take a look, or just wait until it breaks. In the end, it will be the same. I had an inspection, it was bad anyway, they couldn't come for a week, said they were too busy, but when I paid someone else, they came the next day, maybe cause it wasn't free. Be careful put there

I do not recommend Russell's Heating, Cooling/American Mechanical. Technician came to look at my upstairs A/C unit which was not cooling. Said there was a leak in the coil and it would need to be replaced, and he said the compressor was ""shot"" and would need to be replaced as well. He quoted me $19k to replace the outside unit and the evap coil, blower, furnace, etc... essentially the entire HVAC system minus the ducting... I got a second opinion from another company the next day. This technician said that my system was ""purring like a kitten"" and DID NOT need anything replaced. Additionally he said with regular maintenance my AC systems should last for at least another 7 to 10 years. He investigated the ""leak"" and found ZERO evidence of any leaks in the refrigerant lines. What he did find was this: It appears that the Russell's technician installed a new capacitor on the outside compressor unit.... By evidence of a brand new, shiny capacitor. So for a $10 dollar part, this guy convinced us that our ac unit was completely shot and needed to be replaced at the tune of 19 THOUSAND dollars!!! Very shady and dishonest!!!
I am thankful that we did NOT go with Russell's and got a second opinion from a honest HVAC technician. BTW it has been 7 days since the system was brought back online and it has been working like a champ.... IF my system was ""shot"" AND leaking as the Russell's tech said... why is it still working???

I have family who have been miserable in this heat waiting for your company to fix an under warranty problem for over 3 weeks. If this continues I will be on next door and any other place I can post. These folks are miserable. If the company cares you could contact me at [email protected]. I hate to give a 1 star.

I think this is the second time ever in my life that I have left a negative review! After $20,000 on new units I'm a little peeved at the amount of money I have spent on a system they installed 2 years ago. I bought two systems at the same time. One has had no problems at all. The other has had problems that shouldn't be happening at all with how new it is. Just 4 weeks ago my wiring in my system stopped working and shorted my new smart thermostat! They tried telling me we had to pay to replace the thermostat but we refused. They quoted me $750-ish to fix wiring (that they did) and made me pay for the maintenance fees they should have eaten for doing a terrible job with installing. Fast forward to this week we had to wait over a week with it being over 80 in my house for them to come back again because the coil has already gone bad in a 2 year old system. Jennifer has done nothing for me but give me the runaround. I just forked out $963 yesterday and tomorrow I have to pay another $600. I'm still paying on a brand new system that's supposed to be solid with minor repairs for 10 years plus. They over sold us on their performance, professionalism, and integrity. The guy who sold us the units swore if we would need nothing but maintenance for at least 5 years. I'm more than upset with this. I'll write as many reviews as I have to to get someone to speak to me and do the right thing. I'm clearly being taken advantage of and I don't like it. $300 something an hour for labor costs is insane! The part is covered under warranty but my quote for labor was $1300 almost. For 4 hours of work. I fully intend to take this as far as I need to until it's resolved to the absolute best of their ability. If Jennifer offers me one more extension on my maintenance schedule I'm going to scream. The maintenance package does nothing to help with labor costs that aren't my problem if they didn't do their job correctly. How can I trust the work they're doing when it's proved to not be up to par?!

I personally don't recommend this company. I made a mistake signing the estimate without getting quote from other companies. I was charge $950 after the discount for a leak test while the average cost for a leak test is only $250. There was nothing special on how the leak test was done compared to the other company.
When I was given the estimate for the repair, that made me realized that I need to check with other company.
Another thing is the person didn't recover the freon that was left in my AC system before putting nitrogen for leak test, now I had to pay more to this other company because they needs to fill the entire amount of freon needed instead of just adding what was missing. It's the freon that cost a lot. Try to read those other negative reviews, most likely what they have said is true.

After purchasing 2 units from Russel's /American Mechanical , I was in need of another unit. After the last unit was installed, there was a lot of smoke coming from it and I needed to stay up all night to make sure there wasn't a fire. They did come the next day and fix the issue.
This time, I compared with other companies in the area and found they had much higher quote for a slightly bigger unit. They didn't even know the square footage of the area in which it was being used. I requested a discount due to the other quotes and considering the danger they had created with the last installation (inhaling smoke and possibility of fire) . I was told it was not possible.

Phil, our plumber, was personable and efficient. He persisted thru several visits that were required to get parts delivered from the manufacturer.

Very bad experience. After installing a brand new compressor on a 1989 unit, in which he had to come back due to doing it wrong customer asked to clean coils. He cleaned them and broke them. Unit was gone after that. As an HVAC mechanic he should have known a unit this old is frail. He then blamed customer for asking him to. Another thing I didn't like was getting a quote for 345-385 for fixing a faucet. That's ridiculous.
