This business is part-time with the owner operating from his home with his son apprenticing. I had a walk-in shower temperature mixing valve that was failing and I couldn't get the handle set screw removed to inspect it. This rounded out the Allen head socket and I informed the owner about this when I scheduled. First the good. The owner scheduled me directly for a few days out, availability was good. He kept the appointment on time and communicated that he was on his way. He is competent, experienced, and licensed with the State of Idaho. He fixed the problem by replacing the mixing cartridge but had to destroy the handle to remove it because of the set screw damage. The finish quality is good. The bad: he is not totally transparent about his pricing. When scheduling, I asked what his hourly rate was and he refused to disclose that, telling me that he prefers to work on a unit price basis and gave me an estimate of $325 for the job with a $175 call-out fee minimum. When he arrived, he determined that he would have to drill out the set screw and buy a new shower kit (head, finish nipple, faring, valve handle, and valve faring plate. At that point I should have asked him what he was going to charge for the extra work. When he was done with the job, he paused, contemplating what he was going to charge me and ended up doubling the price. He did not detail the cost of materials or time on the invoice so there is no way of knowing if he marked materials up or whether he was covering time until his next job. So, if you want a competent plumber but one who may take advantage of your situation and charge a price with a comfortable profit for him at no risk, then he is your man. I was probably overcharged (on a competitive basis) but the job was only a couple of hours so it was limited in any case.

I really appreciate the positive and very quick response received from RSM Plumbing. Mike and son completed the job of installing my new water heater even though it wasn't an emergency. I know in a real emergency Mike and son would be right there to help quickly. I would call RSM plumbing again for any plumbing need because I know I'm dealing with an honest and legitimate plumbing company that cares about their customers delivering a quality job at a fair price. Mike quoted me a bid and that's exactly what I paid. I would recommend RSM plumbing to all my friends or anyone that needs a professional plumbing job completed. Thank you Mike and son for helping with my project so I will continue to have hot through the winter.

I would give more than 5 stars for RSM Plumbing if I could! I bought a home with Polybutylene piping that was 15 years beyond its expected life. I had recently experienced a flood and wanted to completely re-pipe the home to eliminate future problems associated with the polybutylene. I received 5 quotes in total and the range in pricing was dramatic. I selected Michael and RSM Plumbing because of their experience with re-piping, their professionalism, fair pricing, and their availability. The communication was top-notch. Michael was one of two pluming contractors that actually called to follow-up on the quote (not just send numbers). Michael also took the time to explain the process and to offer options for things like relocating shut-off valves...things I had not considered. While doing the re-pipe, Michael also found an active drain leak that could have caused significant damage had it not been discovered. I recommend Michael and RSM Plumbing for any of your plumbing or re-piping needs.

Had a leak in the cold water line coming g from the water heater. Another company wanted $1200.00 to fix it. Michael came out, offered a solution and repaired the line at a far better price. I highly recommend RSM Plumbing. They are personable, professional and reasonable. If you need some plumbing work, call them ASAP.

So our water heater quit working this past weekend. I took a cold shower Monday. When I got home from work I checked Yelp reviews for plumbers.

Michael with RSM Plumbing responded with his cell number asking me to provide more information.

On the call Michael went above and beyond. He told me what to check and how to get the pilot relit. Saying if it works, awesome. Please consider me for
your future plumbing needs. He told me he would be passing a plumbing wholesaler and would stop there and call me to see if I had been able to get the pilot relit.

He called me 15 minutes later. I had not been able to get the pilot to light.
We agreed to install a new one. He reviewed my options. In the conversation he found out I had taken a cold shower that morning. He asked about family and I told him my wife has stage 4 ovarian cancer.

He told me there was no way he was going to let her have to take a cold shower. He was already enroute to another service call but, he would install
the new water heater tonight.

After finishing the current service he was on. He arrived with his son to install the new water heater. They worked until 8:45pm!

My wife was able to get a hot shower and I woke up to be able to get one this morning.

It's hard these days to find that kind of compassion and service!
