I set a second date for removing a vent hood for bathroom exhaust which was damaged and installing a new one on roof which would occlude debris, birds and desert rats. On time, reasonable, excellent work, quick and efficient, and a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended. Please note that my one star review previously posted because he inadvertently missed an appointment date was rescinded.

I found Roy on YELP. As you can see, he has over a dozen good reviews. I called him to perform some small, miscellaneous repairs, one including the repair of my floor safe.
He tightened the loose bolt, but did not test the door on the safe to see if it closed properly, which I discovered it did not after he left. When he came back to fix it, he also came to refinish the lower half of my ornamental fountain that had incurred rust damage. I spent hours researching the dynamics of the cause of the water seepage into the base of the fountain and what products to treat it with. We had several discussions on how to approach the job. The 1st steps in prepping the surface went well, until he applied a pre-mixed cement that left the surface bumpy. After he broke for lunch and to get primer (mine had hardened) he was preparing to paint over the uncured cement when I stopped him and asked him to look me in the eye and tell me that was what he was about to do. His reply was that he didn't know when he'd be able to come back which to me is an admission that the cement needed more time to cure, but he didn't want to have to make another trip. I gave him the option of discounting the job and I would paint it. He agreed. I also told him the surface was bumpy and he said it would look OK after it was painted. That was not the case. I called and told him so. He said I provided him with the wrong cement. I told him he should have pointed that out as he was applying it, just as he pointed out that my primer was no good and made the effort to get new primer. He attempted to wiggle out, but I persisted and he said he would come back.

(Are we picking up on the clues: Didn't do the simple fix on the safe right the 1st time, was going to take a short cut and paint over uncured cement, etc.)

For the next two weeks I kept calling him and texting him and he shined me with no show after no show. Today, he used the excuse that he couldn't get in the main gate at the Springs and couldn't be bothered with the hassle of going through a vendor gate.

I told him he had the option of reimbursing me or I would give him negative reviews on social media, including YELP. He went back to his base position that it was somehow my fault that it turned out sloppy and he said he would sue me for slander. I said it's not slander, it's the truth.

First time YELP has failed me and hopefully the last.

In the middle of getting a new washer dryer set into the house I realized, with my wife's help, that we needed help. She found Roy on yelp and I called. He was great, said he would be there at 4:00pm and he was right on time. Got a quote on the phone and that was the cost at the end of a job that turned into a lot of work. Big machines and a small laundry room.
