RMS, or Royal Mechanical Services, Ltd. originated as a branch of Royal Home Protection, a company under Electronic Realty Associates, LP (ERA). Royal Home Protection, Inc. started in 1972 and quickly became a pioneer in home warranty and protection. One of its key strengths was ERA's vast, tailored database, which enabled the ability to analyze data in real-time for better decision-making, enabling the company to act proactively.

In late 1993, Tom and Charlene Shyver purchased Royal Mechanical Services from ERA and established the business. Tom was instrumental in the early achievements of Royal under the parent firm and recognized a way to connect customers to locations via technology while still encouraging a focus on personal communication. By staying committed to this approach, Tom and Charlene guided the company towards strengthening customer relationships. This database later developed into what we now call our RAZOR facilities management system.

In the first three years after its reestablishment, the Shyver family managed operations from their residence. With a growing customer base and a strengthening brand, additional family members became part of the team. Shortly after, it was time to seek out office space and they found a small office suite to share with a veterinarian. Every family member has a cherished ""Oh my goodness, did that really just occur?"" story about
