Royal Mechanical Services, Ltd. (RMS) originated as a division of Royal Home Protection, which is a part of Electronic Realty Associates, LP (ERA). The parent company, Royal Home Protection, Inc. started in 1972 and quickly became a leader in the home protection and warranty sector. One of its key strengths was the extensive, customized database of ERA, allowing the ability to analyze data in real-time for better decision-making, empowering the company to be proactive.

During December of 1993, Tom and Charlene Shyver purchased Royal Mechanical Services from ERA and incorporated the business. Tom was instrumental in the early achievements of Royal under the parent firm and recognized a way to connect customers to locations via technology while maintaining a strategy of interpersonal communication. By adhering to this principle, Tom and Charlene directed the company to enhance customer relationships. This database eventually transformed into our RAZOR facilities management system.

In the first three years after its reestablishment, the Shyver family managed operations from their residence. As the customer base expanded and the brand grew stronger, more family members joined the team. Soon after, it became necessary to find a dedicated office and they relocated to a small office suite shared with a veterinarian.
