Is it reasonable to be expected to pay $175-$200/hour for a plumber? Let's face it. We oftentimes call a plumber when there is an urgent need to repair a leak and you need access to water (or so your wife says). I called Royal Flush (RF) mid-day on Saturday and the plumbing company identified me as a previous customer--and I was entitled to a discount. No--there would be no extra charges for coming out on Saturday. I had already identified where the leak was in the crawl space. The plumber called his boss and was informed that it will cost $425 (after a 20% discount) to cut out a coupler (from a previous repair) on a polybutylene pipe leak and replace with P-Tec. The plumber explained it would cost $50 in parts and take two hours. Simple math reveals $375 for two hours work. If no discount--the repair would have been over $500!! Is this fair? My fault, I guess--I needed it repaired (yes, the wife said so). But after the plumber headed to Lowe's to get the parts (part of the two hours), I felt compelled to call Royal Flush and voice my displeasure with the quote. Brad offered to cut the price to $345. Am I pleased? NO. To quote a """"discounted"""" price of $425 for a two hour repair is, to me, gouging and taking advantage of someone who had a leak and had no other choice except to turn down Royal Flush and just turn off the water to the house and get competitive quotes the next day (and to hell with the """"discount""""). When I checked the following week and got quotes MUCH more reasonable (lowest one was $225), I called the customer service for Royal Flush to ask for Brad (supervisor) to call. No call for two days. Called again and asked for one of the owners to call, whereupon it became clear that """"Vicki"""", the customer service manager, would not help me get a call from the owner and that I should be glad I received the """"discount"""" AND another price reduction after I called the supervisor. In fact, my call to customer service deteriorated quickly into a """"voice-activated"""" conversation--meaning that when I spoke, she spoke over me. When I stopped talking, she stopped talking. BTW--the plumbing work was done quickly after the plumber returned from Lowe's. He was friendly and courteous and obviously uncomfortable with the initial quote. I understand the need for all businesses to maximize their revenue, but I got a very clear feeling that RF has no set formula for pricing and is very arbitrary on their pricing. It seemed that pricing what they determined was what """"the market would bear"""". Not what was reasonable. If auto repair shops quote $90/hour rates--why does a plumbing firm demand twice that amount? The plumber was accurate in his assessment of how long the job would take--and the supervisor gave HIM the quote to give to me. I may be wrong for complaining, but I have a bad taste in my mouth starting from the final cost to the unhelpful customer service. My advice to others needing a plumber is to be willing to say """"thanks, but no thanks"""" if the quote is too high, turn the water off at the street meter (easily done) and wait until the next day when you can get a more reasonable quote. I ranked Royal Flush at 3 stars (neutral) because I understand that someone else reading this may think I have been unreasonable. And I do not want to negatively affect someone's business--- but I would like the owner to know he has a problem with overcharging in his business. Brad and his other supervisors may be getting paid bonuses based on revenue, but this compensation plan may incentivize this type of predatory pricing. There really is no excuse for charging attorney fees for a plumbing job. And, NO, I would never call Royal Flush again. There are too many honest, reasonable plumbing companies out there.
WORST EVER. Had a 4-7pm time slot. No one ever showed up. They even sent me a survey the next day with a picture of the plumber that was supposed to do the work. They didn't even know the guy never showed up. BIG WASTE OF TIME......
John K.Harold came on a last minute request after other companies told me they could not. Simple fix and he was nice enough to give our house a good once over. (Felt like it might have been an upsell, but that never came). Service was good and prompt. Late night request of course meant price was high. But got what we needed. Yes, I'd call him and Royal again.
I should have written this a while ago as we've used these guys for years. They are always so kind, professional, timely and thorough. You really can't ask for much more. It's nice to be able to call someone that you can trust.
Stephanie H.I wanted to give some feed back on the service I received from this company. First let me start off by saying their response time is inexcusable. The first time I emailed them it took them 4 business to reach back out to me to schedule an appointment. Then we had to reschedule the appointment because it was to late for the tech to come out and the window was 3-6, but he wouldn't make it till 9. Then after he came out it took 5 days to receive a quote on fixing the water heater. Once approved I decided to call and make the appointment myself because I couldn't wait another 5 days to hear from them. I made the appointment for today between 3-6, once again I left work to take care of this. I just received a phone call stating they wanted to cancel because it was too late and he would be here a long time replacing the water heater. I can't cancel and take off work tomorrow as I have a JOB! So now he will be here close to 7 or 7:30 and God only knows how long this will take. Not to mention he doesn't have the water heater or the parts so he has to go to the wear house to pick them up. The kicker of it all was we were asked if we could help him unload it because he didn't have help! I'm sure that he should have help before coming out here, that's his job! I will not do business with them again! This is a huge inconvenience for me and my family, but then again this whole process for the water heater has been. I wish I could give less then 1 star but I can't
I would caution anyone in the Atlanta area against using Royal Flush Plumbing. I have been trying for a week to get reimbursed for a $400 toilet that they apparently """"lost"""" before it could be installed in my house. Their secretary named Vicky has kept me from speaking to the manager - ANY manager- and she doesn't even make sense half of the time. The last interaction I had with her ended with her yelling at me to """"get a life"""" and then hanging up on me. I cannot say enough bad things about them and cannot even give them one star - I only did because the one star means STAY AWAY.
It's nerve-racking to find a new plumber, electrician, auto repairman, etc., so I was anxious when I called Royal Flush last week. Well, I now have plumbers that I trust and who provide outstanding service! Ben and Chad were professional, knowledgeable, and competent. They had to leave to get special parts for my Kohler toilet, so the job took longer than they expected but the quoted price didn't change. You'll love talking to Vickie when you call the company, too. Royal Flush exceeded my expectations!
Amanda W.WOULD NEVER USE AGAIN - BEWARE! I have already spent too much time dealing with this company, spending hours writing multiple managers emails to no avail. So I am not going to waste more time - needless to say, we had a miserable experience. We had a shower upstairs that had a faulty faucet. We had a different plumbing company come in and say the whole thing needed to be replaced, it was too old to fix, and tinkering with it could case a leak that would be much worse. The repair estimate was extremely high so I called Royal Flush for a second opinion. The guy came out and said he could fix it that day. He was an older, veteran plumber and he could fix it """"no problem."""" All there was were problems. He took eight hours to fix it, several trips to hardware stores, he had to come back the next day and it was already having problems. Then it caused a bigger leak into our guest room below, which caused standing water to destroy lots of personal items on our bookshelves. It took them several weeks to get a guy in to repair it and they did not care at all about the damage it caused. The entire experience was a nightmare but worse, the company could not have cared less. I sent multiple emails to """"Vickie,"""" the customer service manager. Never heard back. Then when we said we were not going to pay until a manager helped us, that's when they took the time to talk to my husband. They asked me to send an email explaining evertyhing to """"Dave"""" the manager. I spent almost two hours writing it and never heard a word back. I sent my last email on February 7th and gave them two full months to respond. Nothing. Final evaluation: use them at your peril.
So I have been having plumbing issues for years and just keep putting off doing something because of the cost. Saturday Jan 24 no more putting it off. So i called Royal Flush after being up all night, worrying. Austin came out very professional and courteous he got the drains cleared, but said you must replace line (old house and a big old tree right over the line). My credit is bad and I could not get normal financing. Royal Flush worked with me and I was able to finance with no credit check. They are also a Christian company. Best plumbers in Atlanta hands down.
Nice job, I made an appointment the night before. Ben from Royal Flush asked me for my business and I said yes. The work began and in 15 minutes which was 8 pm. I was impressed with the quick and friendly service.
