First off, $450 to clean out tree roots is ridiculous. Second, upon roots being rodded out, we were told that the pipe at the sewer tie-in was collapsed and/or severely shifted as evidenced by standing water and the fact that their bit broke and their camera couldn't get through. We were then told it would need to be dug out and the tie-in replaced for a mere 13k. A second opinion from a local company revealed no collapsed or shifted pipe, but actually our line had a p-trap. There's supposed to be standing water in a p-trap. The 2nd company was able to get their camera through that, which revealed a ball of tree roots in front of the tie-in. Problem solved for $300, on top of Roto-Rooter's $450. Also, the 2nd company said for a third of Roto's astronomical price to replace the tie-in, they could replace the entire line from the house to the sewer. I've learned my lesson.

UPDATE: Customer service rep called me promptly after this review and made things right. Apologized on behalf of the technician and admitted things weren't handled properly. A full refund was given. A bad situation was cleared up in the best way possible.

They were very professional and explained what they were going to do very well. They cleaned up their mess when they were done. My only complaint is that if you don't answer the phone when dispatch is calling to let you know when the service man will be at your home they don't leave a message. And if you never talk to dispatch a service man won't be sent to your house. I never answer the phone if I don't know the number. Luckily, after the 3rd time calling I finally answered otherwise they wouldn't have come out.

well, I have used black diamond before, thought i would try rotorooter to compare since my last sewer blockage clued me in to what i was dealing with my new home going forward. This time all i had was a plugged toilet, and i thought i would make sure it was not another tree root incident like the first time when water backing into the shower. the plumber was on time and okay, i thought his information was very basic took him less than 30 minutes of his time to free up the toilet. He had an issue with the sewer cap so we never confirmed if it was a partial blockage or just a toilet issue. My only gripe is plumbing companies need to start offering an hourly rate. $200 to stick a rod in the toilet seems kinda well unfair. the plumber however did tell me i can buy one for $50 at home depot...As far as my tree root issue, i know it will be something to deal with every few years. i was quoted ball park $400 to video cam the line, an additional $550/hour to hydro jet it...about $5,000 to use a sleeve on the line my sewer run is like 120 feet maybe?? which i guess would fix it without digging up the line? or around $10,000 for full line repair. Im thinking i will just buy the $50 rod to fix toilet blocks and maybe look into buying a sewer rooter machine and i can rod it myself once a year or something. the machine cant be that much, and there is no structural damage in the line just where the clay tile transition after the cast iron pipe ends the roots sneaking in the seams. Black diamond was cheaper and i felt more reasonable on the price although they should offer hourly billing also, not just flat fees...I hope in house plumbers read this review as the main companies are slacking in competitive pricing and there has to be room in this business to fix toilet blocks for less than $200 or i think black diamond was like $160.

The technician, Elvier 3962 was a very nice guy. He even helped me to use a coupon. I liked booking online and a short window of only 2 hours. Rodding a bathroom sink was 440.

We had a clogged kitchen sink in our new house. I called this morning and got an appointment almost immediately. The gal on the phone was very courteous and got me scheduled quickly. The technician #3980 was great. Came in and assessed the situation and got to work fixing the clog. i am very happy and satisfied with the service and the working kitchen sink!

Had a clogged toilet. Called another company and they came out and ""fixed it"" but 2 days later it was clogged again. This time I called Roto-rooter. They came in about an hour. Elvir unclogged the toilet and pulled out a sponge(?) my toddler must have flushed that the other guys missed. All fixed now. Wish I would have called Roto-rooter in the first place.

After a huge overflow of our toilet that leaked through the ceiling, I called Roto-Rooter. We discussed the options and there was no hesitation to start the job, which included them purchasing 3 new toilets and the installation. Both servicemen were professional, and very respectful of our home. Our old toilets were over 20 years old and extremely heavy and they made sure that our 2 dogs wouldn't be in the way or run out of the house while the door was open. I really appreciated that they felt comfortable with the dogs and were considerate of their safety. We are waiting for the restoration/damage estimate, he has called us and told us he will be able to come later today or Saturday. This estimate will be helpful for us as we may have to submit an insurance claim.

The service was outstanding though a bit pricey. Maybe I was charged the going rate. I don't know. But the problem was fixed in a timely fashion and the people were very nice.

I have never written a Yelp review before but felt my experience with this company was a good time to start. I would never use this service again. I had an appointment scheduled between 8-10am. No one called and no one showed up. When I called for an ETA they told me that they didn't know when they would be available and someone would call me later. That is an unacceptable way to do business. I don't have all day to sit around and wait for them without any estimation of when they will be here. I will call a company where I can speak directly to the office that is arranging the schedule.
