Super expensive plumber. I was charged 350$ to open a drain in my basement, took the technician about 20 minutes. Lesson learned.

I called the company and told them I had water leaking in from outside because our faucet got turned on somehow. They sent a plumber to the house and said they would call 30 minutes before they arrived and quoted me an approximate time frame. They called several times to tell me they were running behind schedule (which I appreciate), but they kept calling my wife who was unable to answer the phone. I called to correct it, but they continued to call her instead. The plumber ended up arriving 3 hours later than what I was originally quoted in terms of time frame. That's fine, things happen. He was probably a good plumber, but he talked down to me while he was here, and tried to charge me $70 after saying I contacted the wrong people for the job. He said I needed to contact restoration services. Actually, no I didn't. I contacted the service team, told them what happened, and THEY sent a plumber instead of recommending their restoration services. Additionally, the restoration services were free, so if that was the service I wanted, why would I pay $70? All I wanted was some advice/help on getting rid of any kind of water damage my own stupidity may have caused, and instead had one of the worst service experiences I've ever had in my life.

Expensive to use for basic jobs. They charged $340 for a job most would do for $100. I called the company twice to find out if the drain cleaner was charging me correctly. They said someone would call back. No one called back. Use ANYONE else for your basic cleaning needs. In the Twin Cities, many plumbers will do the job for $100. Floor drains and main drains need cleaning, and it's not an emergency; just needs to get done. Roto-Rooter will not quote a price until they come to your house. They can, but they need to pressure you into paying for the service.

I signed up for an appointment to have someone come look at a link under the kitchen sink. I requested Sunday as they advertise 24/7 service. When I received the confirmation email, the appointment had been changed to Tuesday between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm. I called Customer Service and was told that they didn't have enough people working so couldn't help us until Tuesday. I agreed that Tuesday would be fine. Today (Tuesday) I started waiting for the 30 minute call ahead. At 7:45 I called to see when the plumber would arrive. I talked to 3 people (with a lengthy hold between each) and was finally told that there was a note attached to our appointment request that they didn't have people working after 4 that did that type of work, and we would have to reschedule to between 11:00 and 3:00. Nobody called, no email, no text. I guess I was supposed to know by ESP that I needed to reschedule.

The person I talked to on Sunday should have been able to give me that information. At the very least, somebody should have called me today. We have used Roto-Rooter before and they've done a good job, but we will not be using them again.

I had a horrible experience with Roto-Rooter - however the regional manager listened to my concerns and was able to compensate me for the horrible customer service I received. So I appreciate that aspect of Roto-Rooter, which is why I gave them 3 stars. I'm not sure if my experience was a proper reflection of their company or not....

We got a call that our rental property's toilet drain line ruptured, leaking sewage into another tenants kitchen. Which was horrible news. But the worst part, by far, was that in a moment of desperation, we called Roto-Rooter.

I paid a guy $500 to cut a 12 x 12 inch whole in the drywall. The guy should have retired 20 years ago, and worked at a pace that suggested this was his first time out of the house in months. He then connected me to some restoration guy (Dan), and connected me to some demo guy (Dallas), and connected me to a contractor guy (Nick) - all who he said worked with Roto Rooter, and would take great care of me and help deal with insurance. (Ironically, dealing with insurance has been the easy part)

None of these guys ended up knowing each other, kept saying ""well, you'll need to have to get a plumber out here to take a look"". WHAT?! That is who I called. A PLUMBER.

Long story short, I ended up wasting 2 weeks (with tenants sitting with no bathroom or kitchen) with these guys. Each one blaming the other for the reason the job wasn't moving forward. All while I played middle man trying to straighten everyone out.

Oh - and the plumbing quote: $1500, just for the plumbing work.

Got two other quotes for $600 for the same job.

If you live in the twin cities, call Matt at Burnomatic. 612-366-1040.

Very poor customer service and poor/lack of communication. I was charged for 3 hours of labor even though the work was cancelled less than 2 hours after signed paperwork to begin replacement. I was not at the house and was NOT informed that the technician had already began work when I called to cancel. The technician was NOT informed of the cancellation and showed up at the house 2 hours after cancellation with material to continue replacement and began charging for ""delayed time"" by the minute. Labor cost included time for ""work that could not be continued"", which made NO sense because work had already been cancelled and accepted by RR 2 hours prior. They were going to charge for 4 hours of labor when only 2 hours were completed (which RR failed to inform me as I was not at the house) but after much ""discussion"", I was charged for 3 hours and had to pay more than $1000; charge consisted of the time the technician came out to take a look at the problem and begin work and for ""delayed time"" (even though work was cancelled 2 hours prior). I talked to another professional and they said I paid more than double what I really should have been charged. NO discount was given. NO attempt at any resolution was given. NO APOLOGY WAS GIVEN FOR LACK OF/POOR COMMUNICATION & POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Horrible! I had plumbing issues right when I moved into my newly purchased home. After a little while of not being able to fix it, I called Roto-Rooter to come take a look. They came out and just stared at the pipe. Said I would need to replace the entire pipe from the meter to the street and gave me an 8+ grand price. At that time they even flat out said that it may not work and there might need to be more done. I chose not to go with them and instead contacted a smaller/more local company. They fixed it in only a few hundred dollars - only needed a valve replaced and a few other fixes. Roto-Rooter is a scam! Highly recommend people look elsewhere that way they can actually get their problems fixed without digging themselves a financial hole.

Well...after being told our refund would take less than 10 days, still haven't received it yet.... Also haven't received a call back from Troy (the manager who said he would process the refund), and we have called multiple times and left messages with many people assuring us we would get a call back the same day. This company never fails to disappoint with their false promises, and definitely doesn't even deserve the one star

STAY AWAY! My toilet started overflowing at 8pm tonight, so I called Rotor Rooter, a national chain. They said someone would be by within an hour. An hour later, a RR operator called from New York to say that no one would be able to come to my apartment until possibly 11pm. I told them to cancel the ticket--and then called someone LOCAL, who showed up twenty minutes later. He fixed the problem quickly (and cheaply), but right after he left Rotor Rooter called me THREE times in a row--even though I'd cancelled the job!--because suddenly they had an available plumber who was leaving a job in Apple Valley and ""just might be passing through your way."" I let their annoying, unwanted calls go to voicemail. Never again.

I had a backed up basement floor drain on a Sunday night. It had been a recurring problem. I cleared it once before and found lots of tree roots. But this night I didn't want anything to do with it. I called Roto-Rooter and was on hold for about 10 minutes, then after speaking with the dispatcher a technician made it to my home within the hour. After some paperwork, he got right down to business and cleared the pipe in about 40 minutes. The tech gathered his equipment and left no mess or tracks in the house. I hate to reach so deep into my wallet, but it was worth not being stressed out over sewer problems. Overall, I had a positive experience with this company. Would recommend for emergency service
