Recommended Customer Reviews

There is a reason they have bad reviews. We has a toilet that you had to hold the handle down the entire time to flush, we called them out to have a quote to completely rebuild the toilet. Charged was $327, 3 minutes later the tech said he was done. Now we could flush normally, but the toilet started running. Another tech came out and pointed out the parts were old and needed replacing. Explained we already paid to have them replaced. He replaced a couple of parts and said it would be all fixed. Toilet leaked as soon as he left. His name was Mike. He was called back and said it cant be running, all parts replaced. It ran after he left. It got worse so we called them back out again, Got Mike again, who said we were imagining it, that it could not be happening, nothing he could do. Had to call and complain, talk to a manager, who finally told him to replace the parts again. I watched him, looked like he only replace 1 part and not the flapper, so we will see if this finally fixes the problem or not. But never will we call Roto Rooter again...Tech was rude, they did a poor job

I just got charged $349.00 for clogged shower drain that took the plumber 10 minutes to suck out. Definitely over charged! They took advantage of me, probably because I am woman! Call around, do not use them!

Not very happy. First off, my appointment window was between 915 am and 11 15 am. They say they will call with 30 minutes before the plumber arrives. They call at 11 15 am and say my plumber still needs 45 minutes to finish up the last job. Then they call back saying he is on the way. Edmonds is not far from Lynnwood, and it took him one hour to get here. Almost 2 hours late.
When he arrived, I showed him to the toilet that had a washcloth stuck in it, completely clogged, and I told him that. Without hesitation or concern (no tools, no protection for the bathroom which is carpeted) he just flushes the toilet. What would he have done if it overflowed onto the carpet? It almost did, but it may as well have overflowed.
Then he threw the price out at me.... $183 just to snake the toilet, and IF it didn't work he would drop the price.
Then told me it would be over $500 to lift the toilet if the snake (auger) didn't work.
In the end, the toilet cleared, but he kept saying that he was feeling something in the toilet. He never got the washcloth out....maybe it just washed away?
When pulling the snake out, it was dripping all over the carpet. His hands were filthy, no gloves, he was touching the snake bare-handed!!!!! No protection over his shoes which makes me wonder what other fecal schmutz he may have tracked in.
Boy, their commercials poorly advertise their promptness and cleanliness...by far.
When leaving, he kept saying how he still felt something in the toilet, and that the washcloth MIGHT be stuck in the trap of the toilet. And if I we're to say, 'let's be sure' and there was no washcloth stuck, I'm sure I'd have been charged.
The owner of the house is not too happy about the dripping all over the carpet and she wants the hallway from the front door and the bathroom carpet cleaned. Guess who will have to pay for that?
I'm not going to name the plumber, but I definitely think that the whole crew should take a refresher course in respecting their customers' homes.
They're supposed to be fairly reputable and that's why I chose them. Not sure if I will in the future after this service call.

Great work done By David #1099. He was on time, professional and told me what the estimated cost would be before he started the job. I had severely clogged down spouts that had been backing up every time it rained. David did a great job flushing the clogs out and the drains run free now.

Our washer drainage pipe was forcing the water back out. I've done some snaking myself before, but this was too far down. After 2 days of trying myself, my Dad said to try Roto-Rooter, as he uses them and its only about $80 a pop (California). I said fantastic! Called them up and they were very polite over the phone and said they'd have someone out within 2hrs. Great. I asked about cost and the lady said the ""tech"" will look at the problem and then give a free estimate. Don't like it? Send him on his way.
That was at 4:15pm. Guy didn't show up until 7:15 or so. The tech was very nice and polite. When I explained the problem he brought up his price sheet (its not an estimate btw -- they know exactly how much they're going to take you for bare minimum based on how they go about the job). So running a snake from the bathroom sink area was $403!!!!!! @#*%()! Even with my $50 off coupon that was insane.
I'm pretty sure they go on the idea that you're in need and they're there, right now, so you're going to rationalize it and pay it. That's what I did. I wish I hadn't. As others have said, it was about 15-20 minutes of actual work.
Yes, they got the clog out. Yes they were polite. No, I will never ever use them again. That's $380 I could have spent elsewhere. DO NOT USE ROTO-ROOTER unless you have disposable income!

I used Roto-Rooter to have them clear a storm drain. I got charge $450 for just 20 minutes of work and that was with a discount!! The tech that came out was kind and very knowledgeable. I am giving them one star due to the fact they charge so much for just 20 min worth of work. I was told the machine runs $525 an hour and figured I would have gotten a better price since it was a quick job. I will not be recommending Roto-Rooter to my friends due to the high cost and the unwillingness to be understanding about charging so much for a short job.

After setting up an appt. on the phone the technician called right away to confirm he was on his way. It was less than an hour and a half between setting up the appointment and the arrival of the technician - great timely service. They fixed our tub right away and we have not had any problems since. Great customer service and efficient work. Thanks!

Service tech, Mike, was very nice and very well mannered. I was very pleased when he was able to open my kitchen sink drain and install new drain/ptrap. He get's an atta boy from me.
I will say I was a bit shocked at the price of service, but professional service with a smile is something that I'm willing to pay for.
Thanks Mike~

I was originally down on Roto Rooter due to a couple of missed appointments, although after talking with their Dispatch Manager Jim, I now have a better appreciation for all that has to go right to get a plumber out in the middle of the day! While homeowners with morning appointments are hopeful of quick calls, they can often turn into much larger jobs due to the actual condition of existing plumbing which impacts later appointments. Thus, if you positively need a time commitment, I recommend asking for a first thing morning appointment and if you have a more flexible plumbing need and schedule, then one later in the day should be good. Give Roto Rooter an opportunity to earn your business.
ps: this is my review, as I don't have any vested interest in the company.

Wonderful experience! After family from overseas arrived the toilet blocked up. We plunged and did Drano to no avail and sewage was then backing out from bathtub. We called Roto in Lynnwood and within 45 minutes tech was out. We went through various issues and problems and he was not rushed, nor did he push us into any expensive endeavors. He explained what we should do. He departed and did not charge us. We then went ahead and dug out the soil to expose the main pipe by the house and opened up the pipe. We called the tech back directly (he gave us his card with direct cell number). He was out in Snohomish so he organized a fellow tech to come out. Our new tech was here within 30 minutes. Sent a camera down the exposed pipe, told us all was unblocked and pipe looked healthy except for one or two very minor sludge pockets which was common especially in older houses. He told us how to patch it up and were are now all good. We learned that Drano is a no no and dumping 5 gallons of water down the toilet to flush a blockage is best. Our experience was great, friendly, timely and professional. This whole adventure cost us $150 plus tax. We highly recommend Roto in Lynnwood and would call on them again!
