I called to schedule an appointment with Roto Rooter to have the roots cut out of my sewer line. I used them in the past. I scheduled it for a Saturday for a two hour window. I called at 10am to schedule at 11am I get a call from a rep that was completely rude. I asked how much we paid the last time they were out and the rep started being rude. He keep saying no disrespect but what the F*$% do you want? I told him I would like an estimate. The Roto Rooter Rep said"" If you had this done before that would be your estimate was. Quit wasting my F*%#*&% time"". I said I could not remember how much I paid? He told me I'm wasting his time. I asked for a simple estimate, so I can get some work schedule. He told me to call him when I want someone to fix the f*%#*% problem. I'm a project engineer and hired Rotor Rooter for a huge commercial project a little more than 3 months ago. They were awesome. I spent almost a lot of money locating pipes and fixing issues caused by construction. This guy today was over the top. Rude and disrespectful. I refuse to ever use their services again. Never use this company......

I live on E. Denny Way (98122). Pipes from my kitchen sink and dishwasher were leaking into ceiling and wall of downstairs bathroom. I called RR on Thursday and was promised service between 8 and noon on Friday. The technicians arrived at 3:30, diagnosed the problem, and estimated a 4 hour repair that could not commence before Monday. I had to wash dishes in my bathtub for 2 more days. But, on Monday, March 23d, Sergey fixed the problem: multiple leaks from corroded pipes. He showed me the areas to be fixed and asked for permission to do each step of the repairs. His estimate was right; it took 4 hours to complete the work. He also sent me another RR technician, at no extra costs, to evaluate the dampness in the wall and ceiling to make sure I could proceed with drywall repairs. Sergey communication skills gave me confidence that the repairs were necessary and well done. If the service had been performed on the Friday as promised by the RR dispatcher I would give it 5 stars instead of 4.

This concerns a repair to an exterior line made in 2001. Since it lasted 14 years I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 - though I believe it should have lasted longer.

We developed another leak this year. Used a different company this time (introduced by Homeowners Club).
- The leak was occurring at the site of the 2001 repair. Examination suggested the 2001 repair was done to a standard of just ""good enough"".
- The 2001 price was 10% more than the 2015 price of the other company -- despite the inflation of the intervening years.
- I still remember the 2001 plumber. Seemed unhappy to be working outside, though it was sunny and I had already dug the hole for him. He left for a long stretch to get ""parts"".

Roto-Rooter provided a great service! I needed a plumber on a Sunday night and didn't have to wait for more than 2 hours to get service. Once here, the plumber was timely and efficient in getting the work done. So, far the job looks like it was really well done. I've had no leaks and have the peace of mind that the plumbing issue was resolved by a professional.

Total rip-off. For changing the flapper valeves i was charged 430$.
Even replacing the whole toilet would not cost that much.

Stay away!

My Roto-Rooter plumber came to fix a clogged toilet early in the morning on the Saturday right after thanksgiving. He explained the options he had available to fix my clog and how much it could cost for each and that even though the the higher priced option was available that it would be a last resort. He also offered a military discount which helped out a lot. Because I live in an apartment he also searched for other defects in my toilets that would cause my clog so that I would have the evidence to submit to my landlords for a work request. He found a few which my landlords were happy to fix. Thank you Roto-Rooter.

I have used this company several times in the past with no issues, NOT so this time!
My tank-less water heater quit making hot water so I called them, this was Tuesday. I was told that the fellow that works on tank-less was off that day and they would have someone out between 8 and noon the next day. So Wednesday at about 11am I got a call, they are behind schedule but would still be out just a bit later. At 5ish, I got another call saying they weren't going to make it on Tuesday they didn't have anyone to work on the tank-less at the moment they would be out first thing Thursday morning. Now it is Thursday morning and I get a call from them again. No one to work on tank-less and they canceled. Why didn't they just admit in the beginning that they couldn't help me? I am out of hot water for 3 days and still have to find someone to work on my tank-less water heater.
Stay clear of these guys if you are looking for reliable service!!

During the inspection for the sales of our home, blockage of the sewer line was discovered. The new buyers graciously sent us a copy of the video taken so we could see the blockage.

We called Roto-Rooter because we had previous good service in a blockage situation previously. Out comes Jesse McClane, tech #2101, he assures us that we are in good hands because he is an expert in getting sewer lines in working order for house sales.

I showed him the video and he immediately said that there is a break in the line. I asked him to show me and his response was ""Ma'am, I'm the expert and can see it.""

He proceeded to remove the toilet (the other guy went through the vent) to check out with his own camera (fair enough). Just as he dropped the camera in he said, I can't believe that you can even shower or flush the toilet since the line is full of sewage! When I asked him why he said that since the other video did not show it, he said ""Ma'am I'm the one with the camera.""

He went on the explain to my husband that there was a large crack in the line and based on where our sewer line runs that the garage floor would need to be busted out and we would need permits for digging up the line. He ran the camera out to the main over 85 feet from our house which was completely necessary. He said he wouldn't write up a formal estimate for the work because we said we were getting a second opinion. He did say that it was the ""worst I've ever seen"" and he would ballpark around $38,000 for a fix!

He pulled the camera, replaced the toilet and ring and left us with a $224.48 (after a $50 coupon). When I went into the bathroom later, I discovered that when he removed that camera he sprayed sewage all over my white shower curtain, walls and floor. Disgusting!

Upon second opinion, it was found that there was no break in the line, just blockage which was removed via a hydro-flush through the roof. Total cost $675! Glad we found a reputable company to help us out.

Imagine how many people have been taken advantage of by this scam artist! Sad.

We used Roto-Rooter recently and had the worst possible experience. We would give them 0 star if that is allowed and would never recommend them to anyone.

Our drain out of the house got plugged up on a Saturday and we were leaving town the next day. Still having laundry to do and not wanting to face all the problems when we got back, we started calling plumbers and eventually engaged Roto-Rooter to come out the next morning because they were available. We will never use them again for the following reasons.

1. The people answering the phone would not give out any pricing information.

2. The technician Troy showed up late the next morning. After being told the situation, he told us a toilet will have to have pulled and it would cost $517 plus tax plus a ~$10 part, so roughly $570 regardless of how much time it would take. He then emphasized repeatedly that all that cost was for the ""attempt"" to solve our problem but there would be no guarantee that $570 would solve our problem.

3. Troy felt insulted when we asked to see the official Roto-Rooter price sheet. Because of our dire situation and we did not know anyone else who worked weekends, we went ahead with him.

4. The actual job took less than an hour.

This company takes joy in taking advantage of people who are stuck, they do not deserve to be in business.
