Water line broke to the refrigerator replaced valve and replaced water line and charged $975. Total work hour is like an hour. So it seems hourly rate for the service is like $900. So I decided to just have home warranty for future. I felt like I got scammed. But lesson learned. Try to call at least three plumbers and compare prices. Well
Update: so I sent the info still no response.
Final update: the refund is being processed. Overall the experience was three star.
Micheal V.Terrible company that tried to charge me exorbitant prices and wanted me to go into my insurance. They started adding other things to the issue so that they could basically charge me for remodeling a large portion of the home. Please don't call this company.
I called Roto Rooter to handle a simple task: fix a leaky bath faucet. I attempted to fix it myself but broke a part in the process, requiring me to keep my main water supply off until the issue was resolved. Roto Rooter promised to have someone at my place within the hour, which I thought was great--but they didn't live up to their promise.
The plumber showed up nearly 25 minutes late and quoted me $1600 to replace the tub handles, faucet, and pipe part because he claimed that he wouldn't be able to replace the single part on the broken handle. I argued with him because the part seemed standard but ultimately gave in because I needed the job done asap. He said he could install shut-off valves for an additional $400 so that in the future I wouldn't need to shut off the main water supply if there were any issue. $2000, with little thought and without any more details. Half that amount would be too much. Then the plumber said he had to pick up what he needed to do the job from Home Depot. What kind of plumber doesn't carry the parts he needs with them?
He came back an hour later and did the job. The tub handles he replaced were put on in the wrong direction. I let it go because I wanted it done and him gone. But then I noticed that the brand new tub spout he installed had a deep scratch on it. He didn't bother to bring it to my attention and I wasn't letting it go. He offered to replace the spout that night but by this time it was 8:00 pm. He said he would come back next week. We'll see, he wouldn't let me write the issue on the contract I signed, probably so that his boss doesn't know he screwed up.
I get the invoice and, low and behold, it's exactly $2,000, with a charge for parts that is not itemized and charge for his travel to Home Depot. Seems like the plumber just made up the price when he gave me the quote and justified it later. I would bet money that if we compared any two invoices for the same work by the same plumber there would be huge discrepancies. It would have been much cheaper for me and my family to stay at a hotel for a few nights until another company was available to do the job at a reasonable price.
For the sake of your wallet, home, and time, don't hire Roto Rooter. I will never again use the company, nor can I recommend them to anyone.
My window was 8-12 for service today, when I called around 11:30 it seemed they had no idea about the service but told me an hour and half. They showed at 3:30. After 40 minutes tells me it's going to be $300 for an augment and new parts. Says it's going to be $350 plus parts now. Tell me why I just paid $687 if it was $350 plus parts when he purchased a snake and replaced a valve. Snakes are not $300 or anywhere close.
Roto-Rooter is the not the plumbing business you want to call. The Master Plumber technician they sent to our home tried to charge us $600 from the start to replace the main water pressure regulator and informed me because of code he needed to place a another check valve above and I said no thank you and had him just repair the issue. This is my last time dealing with this plumbing company they are real honest crooks!
Catherine G.Roto-Rooter just came out to give me a ""free estimate"" for a clogged kitchen sink pipe. The estimate (more than $600!!) was exorbitant and when I said it was too much and my husband walked into sight, the plumber ""called his manager"" (like I need to deal with car salesman techniques when I am dealing with a clogged drain) and offered to do it for $400(which is still high, based on my research) and threatened me that if I didn't take it, they would charge me $50 for the visit. When I told them that I had confirmed on the phone that the estimate is free - he said the $50 was for their diagnosis - even though I am the one that told him it was a clogged drain and his ""diagnosis"" was that he needed to clean out the drain. I refused to pay the $50 and sent him on his way. I am thoroughly disgusted with the dishonesty and price gouging.
It's a major rip off, call your local plumber, their prices are almost double cause those guys only get the procentage from the job and the rest goes to the company, find a guy or small company that works for himself,I've got quoted 750$ for just a sump pump replacement that take maybe an hour labor at the most and was told that 450$ of that quote was for the labor,I don't think that your neighborhood plumber will charge you that much per hour. Also I've stated several times that due to the lack of money cause I'm on disability I need to deal with the clean up myself and only interested
in pump replacement the guy kept pushing their clean up service like he was deaf or not understanding English language. He walked out somewhat shocked and disappointed that someone didn't have a thousand dollars to drop for their services.I think they are used to people being in a tough place and paying whatever it takes to fix the issue, maybe I would've done that too if I've had a credit card that I could charge to. I can't say anything about the quality of their work cause I could not afford to hire him but shop around if you don't want to spend an arm and the leg!
I called RotoRooter for an active basement flood. Their restoration specialist failed to explain extent or costs of services provided. Some of the services provided were not necessary.
There was a language barrier between plumbers and homeowner, so it was difficult to ask questions, especially about type of sump pump installed, backup for it.
RotoRooter prices are $1,000 to $2,000 more than other comparable companies.
I think this company took advantage of an elderly woman during an very stressful situation.
I had an terrible experience with Armor. Actually, Norman who works for them was my problem. I trusted this company to put everything back to place after the water mitigation was done and wasn't successful. Norman sold me a dream, betrayed me with false information, and lack of communication. He wasn't a man of his word and couldn't give me a quote but knew what I was working with as far as the insurance company. Norman left me with an unfinished basement for almost a month and didn't respond to any of my calls/text. What kind of person/company would leave someone in the cold like that in a very stressful situation? Very unprofessional and would never recommend Armor to anyone!
Dionitra H.I had a clogged toilet and despite YouTube having me believe I can fix it, I couldn't. At 7:33 am, Ifilled out the online form, found a $60 on their website & Greg was at my house by 8:00am. He told me my options with pricing. He was so professional and very courteous.
I typically have a friend to help me but he was on another job. This was fast, clean & efficient. I would use them again in a heartbeat Thank you
Did I mention how handsome Greg is? Yeah, that part.
