I called RotoRooter for an active basement flood. Their restoration specialist failed to explain extent or costs of services provided. Some of the services provided were not necessary.
There was a language barrier between plumbers and homeowner, so it was difficult to ask questions, especially about type of sump pump installed, backup for it.
RotoRooter prices are $1,000 to $2,000 more than other comparable companies.
I think this company took advantage of an elderly woman during an very stressful situation.
I had an terrible experience with Armor. Actually, Norman who works for them was my problem. I trusted this company to put everything back to place after the water mitigation was done and wasn't successful. Norman sold me a dream, betrayed me with false information, and lack of communication. He wasn't a man of his word and couldn't give me a quote but knew what I was working with as far as the insurance company. Norman left me with an unfinished basement for almost a month and didn't respond to any of my calls/text. What kind of person/company would leave someone in the cold like that in a very stressful situation? Very unprofessional and would never recommend Armor to anyone!
Dionitra H.I had a clogged toilet and despite YouTube having me believe I can fix it, I couldn't. At 7:33 am, Ifilled out the online form, found a $60 on their website & Greg was at my house by 8:00am. He told me my options with pricing. He was so professional and very courteous.
I typically have a friend to help me but he was on another job. This was fast, clean & efficient. I would use them again in a heartbeat Thank you
Did I mention how handsome Greg is? Yeah, that part.
I called Roto-Rooter today because another plumbing company was not able to honor my scheduled time. Roto-Rooter came out 1 hour before my scheduled time. I have a clogged drained the same one they came out 10 years ago to unclog, the technician quoted me $600.00 to unclog. I didn't pay that much for the last time. I had my mind set to pay anywhere from $250-$350 but not $600.00. Roto Rooter your a rip off.
We called for an estimate to snake a clogged drain. Dispatching a plumber and getting a quote was free of charge. A plumber showed up in an hour, which we appreciated. However we were quoted $625 to SNAKE A DRAIN! When asked why it was so expensive he said we needed a ""permit"" to run it. We had another plumber come out an hour later and charged us $125 for the same job. I do not recommend Roto-Rooter unless you want to be completely ripped off. What a scam.
Tamika D.Roto-Rooter is a joke. The technician they sent to our home tried to charge us $900 from the start to snake our main line and when he couldn't fix the issue he not only said it was broken (assumed it was broken) but charged us $300 for nothing. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY BECAUSE THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF
Ryan G.I'm blown away by how unprofessional the service team is.
I have a rental property with an issue. I called early in the morning and the customer service was great and scheduled an appointment immediately with my tenant.
Later that day, the plumber calls me from the tenant's cell phone to tell me that it will be over $1000 to fix the issue, but he will not give me any details about what is wrong or what caused the problem. After asking several times what caused the issue, he kept replying ""do you want to fix the whole thing or just part of it today"" as if trying to close the sale. No, I'd like to hear what is the problem first.
I hang up (with my tenant, because again, the plumber apparently doesn't use his own phone) and call the company. The customer service rep is extremely apologetic and admits ""I don't like what is going on at all."" She asks to put me on hold to contact a manager. Seven minutes later, she comes back and says no manager is available but that they will call me back soon.
Twenty minutes later, I receive another call FROM MY TENANT, who is telling me that the manager called the plumber directly (not me) and they are offering me a discount to fix the issue today. Still no explanation about what the issue is. I immediately call the company again, third time now, and customer service successfully transfers me to a manager. I kindly explain what is going on to him, and he is completely unapologetic. He also tries to close the deal, ""the technician offered a discount to do this work today,"" and ignores my request to know what is going on. I told the manager that I don't think this is the right company for me. His response, ""Ok, goodbye.""
What a waste of time, completely unprofessional.
Shine W.Personable, professional, accommodating... highly recommended! The staff that answers the phone are kind, patient, explains things until I understood and assisted me with emergent scheduling. The technician/plumber arrived on time, was courteous, explained pricing and necessary steps. The following day the adjustor came on a day off as I had to work (I am an ER nurse) and then once he followed up with my homeowner insurance we were forced to reschedule based on Allstate's timeline. Two technicians came on Saturday evening to begin the damage control/work; they explained what they were doing and what to expect next. This has been a phenomenal experience in a moment of distress. I highly recommend this company.
Stacie B.DO NOT USE ROTO ROOTER!!!!!!!!!
On June 19, 2018 our hot water pipes under the kitchen sink on the first floor burst and was running all day. When I got home, there was about 6 inches of water in our finished basement, which has carpeting, finished bathroom, and a laundry room. It also flooded the first floor, but not to the extent of the basement because all the water was draining and going directly underneath. Our first instinct was to turn the main water valve off, take a video of everything, and start bucketing water out of our basement, which was a little difficult because of the stairs and there are no doors that lead directly outside in the basement. We have to go up about 7 stairs to access a door, which is fine. My fiance was able to use his shop vacuum and I poured water into the shower drain in the basement (I would like to point out that all the water that I dumped into my shower was clean, clear water, you will find out why I am mentioning this later on).
I called my insurance company unsure of what the next step to do was and they immediately told me to call a plumber and a water restoration company and then to give them a call back. With no hesitation, I called Roto Rooter because you guys are supposed to be the best of the best and we needed to make sure our home was in good hands. Me and my fiance, George, were able to get about 5 inches of water out of the basement before the plumber came to fix the kitchen sink and before Joseph Seubott, the main water restoration manager, got there. The plumber was able to fix the pipe under the sink, which we paid 308 dollars for and Joe made us feel at ease when he walked with us in the basement and the first floor to tell us that everything was wet and to not touch anything else because we were in good hands and they would take it from there. He said ""put down the buckets, this is our job now"". We immediately felt like this was going to be taken care of with no issues and boy, were we wrong.
After Joseph came, he sent one guy named Nick (not sure of his last name) to come take out the carpet by himself and to install dehumidifiers. I am not sure why they only sent out one person because that was a lot of carpet and was extremely heavy. He was able to suck up the remaining water out of the carpet into the big heavy vacuum he brought with him, only to dump it in our shower drain, which could potentially cause a drain blockage with how much debris was left in the shower after he left. He took out all the carpeting in the basement, put it all in heavy duty trash bags, and left it all on our driveway soaking wet for about 4 days. (George had to move the bags because a portion of them were on our lawn. He had to pull them off because they were slowly killing the grass.) He put 2 dehumidifiers in the basement and left that and his vacuum there because he was too exhausted to pull it out of basement by himself. George offered him a green tea, which he accepted and went on his way.
The next day, there was no one available to come out and service the walls, so we had to wait until Thursday, June 21st for anyone to come out. Meanwhile, the hardwood floors are warping severely, the smell of mildew and mold was overpowering, and the water was spreading into the places that were not damaged before. We thought this was a normal thing, we didn't know any better, maybe it was my fault for trusting their judgement.
On Thursday, Nick and Mike came out to the house and he thought that they were just demoing the basement and leaving, when I had to tell and show him that the upstairs hardwood flooring was SEVERELY warping (you could CLEARLY TELL). He never once looked around the house with me, never told me what he going to, just did what felt like the bare minimum to be done for the next day. Our furnace was temporarily shut off because of the damages, meaning the AC was shut off for a few days. Because of this, I offered some cold water to both Roto employees, which they both accepted. Mike was in charge of the cutting of the dry wall and Nick took out all the hardwood flooring I pointed out the fact that i was deeply concerned about the walls and cabinets in the bathroom, island, and kitchen because thats where all the water was draining into the basement from. He didn't seem to care and went about making a phone call to which seem to be a female and ripping out all the hardwood flooring and leaving all the nails behind for us to step over and not covering up any furniture before doing so. Larry, a supervisor, came out to make sure that they were doing a good job and assured me that everything was going great and Mike and Nick knew what they were doing. He gave us a lock box and left. Again, we do not know standard protocol on this type of work, so we trusted you guys. . . We were FINALLY able to get a hotel room because we had no showers and we were so exhausted.
Complete failure to show up as promised or to ever reply. At 8 pm I had a PVC pipe failure that required I turn off water to the house. I called for emergency service and they scheduled me for 9 pm to 1 am. At 11:30 pm they called to say they're running late and would advise me when the tech would arrive shortly thereafter. I called at 2 am, no update. I called at 3 am, they said they'd escalated to a manager who was trying to find someone else and they'd call back within 15 minutes; they never called back. I gave up at 5 am and slept for one hour. At 6 am I called and they said their systems are down and they'd call me back; they never called back.
