UPDATE: The GM and his team made things right and came back out to resolve the initial concern which was what is causing the recurring issues...broken sewer main. Even though the news isn't good, I now know what is wrong and they did their part to come back out to make things right.

I needed a late night, on a Sunday night, repair for my upstairs bathroom. Not only did Jeff show up within 30 minutes but he didn't charge just to show up! I called two other companies and they said they couldn't be at my place less than 2 hours and they charge an after hours fee of $115 or more. Jeff was respectful, reliable and fixed my faucet quickly, considering he had to find the parts too. Thankful to have met Jeff Meares. Roto Rooter is lucky to have him.

Last Saturday, my kitchen sink got clogged. Nothing I tried to do would break it loose. I went online and made an appointment with Roto-rooter. They sent a tech out later that evening. He did everything he could think of trying to figure out where that clog was. I would've given up long before he did. He finally figured out that the clog was actually in the garbage disposal. It was tough to get it unclogged, but he did it. He worked really hard for us to solve our our problem. It's nice to know that you can always rely on Roto-rooter to help you out anytime day or night. This is the third time we have called them to our house over the years. They always do a top-notch job.

We had a water leak in two bathrooms. I e-mail Roto-Rooter inquiring about service. I didn't asked for anyone to visit us but that afternoon someone from water resolution showed up at our door. I should have known after this experience that I don't want to do deal with these people but anyway we decided to give them a try. The next day a salesman was at our door. A few minutes after that water resolution people were at the door. Then followed the plumber. I realize now what their game is; a bliss attack. My wife and I are both in our sixties. They separated us the salesman took my wife and called our insurance to get the water resolution work approved. I was dealing with the plumber and the water resolution people. At no time were we giving a quote on what the cost would be for all of this work. We were told that our insurance would cover all the work. We now have a bill for over a thousand dollars we believe for what the insurance didn't cover. We also was not given a quote for what the plumbing would cost until he completed the job. He replace two faucets and the cost was over 800.00 dollars even the insurance adjuster that visited our house a few days later told us that this was ridiculous.

The escalation of diagnosis was not there. There was no attempt to start at the lowest level of diagnosis. i am not a technical person but know many people that are and they ALL told me what the first step should be. The technician that came to my house didn't even make an attempt at the fix that would take only take 3 minutes to rule out and was far less expensive. The parts were under warranty and the hourly rate was basically 200 per hour. how is that right?

It's less than a week before Thanksgiving so you just know something is going to go wrong in the kitchen. Last year it was the oven. This year, the drain!

I've been good. (Honest.) No egg shells. No coffee grounds. No errant silverware.

Roto-Rooter to the rescue (within two hours of the call), namely, one Jose Q. He explained the problem, the solution, the costs, and got down to work. Voila! No more clogged drain. [My laxatives should work so well.]

Thank you for your prompt and friendly service, Jose Q., and for putting up with our yappy little dog that really liked your leg. A lot.

I had a problem on a weekend and I live downtown. The technician Donny Belk was sent to my house and there was a 5k, a Veterans Day Parade and a football game at the Alamo that day. He sat in traffic downtown for over an hour trying to get to me and just couldn't move (I've been there TOO many times). I felt so bad that I didn't realize all of this was going on down here at the time he was called out. He was such a good spot about it and came the next day (A Sunday!) and then ended up advising me to get a new toilet and didn't charge me! Above and beyond customer service and great attitude. I highly recommend the technician Donny Beck and Roto Rooter.

Donny Belk was professional and courteous and kept at it until the job was done and made sure there were absolutely no more issues. He explained everything and answered all my questions and offered some great advice. Thank you

It started out good. I called on September 2 2016 and the first guy came out named Paul. He was good, professional and knew what he was doing. He used a camera and quickly found the problem (roots in pipes) and then he left (1 hour). The blocked pipe is under the foundation and about 2 feet away from the exterior wall. Then John (project manager) shows up to do paper work and leaves (30 minutes) after telling the job is $4700.00 and took a check for a little bit over half the cost.
Sept 4, three diggers took turns and dug a hole for 3 and 40 minutes. It started to rain and they left. I got out my tarp and covered the hole to stop it from filling in with water.
Sept 5th plumber takes out the bad pipe and puts in new pipe (1 hour 35 minutes).
Sept 6 john calls and says he has bad news. house shifted and pipe is flowing backwards and will cost another $1400.oo to fix. $6200.00. John agrees to take off 10 percent bringing down to $5580.00.
Sept 7 another 3 hours and 25 minutes. John calls me and tells me he has more bad news and the cost is going to go up. Later on he calls me back and tells me that they will not charge me extra, that they could just not do that to a customer, that its not just right.
Sept 8 nothing
Sept 9 nothing.
Sept 10 7 hours and 25 minutes. The plumber ties my tarp several feet above the hole for shade. This is Texas and the temps were in the 90s so I don't mind, if it makes them more comfortable.
Sept 11 another 3 hours and 10 minutes they fix the pipe and tell me they are done. I check and have my wife flush and water comes out of a different pipe that their tool punched a hole in. I call John, two guys return and fix it in 15 minutes.
Sept 12, two guys show up and lay down plastic in the hole (5 minutes)
Sept 13, John and inspector show up. Inspection failed. another hour of work.
Sept 14. John pulls up and sits in van for an hour. Does not get out. Calls and said secretary forgot to reschedule inspection.
Sept 15, nothing
Sept 16, nothing
Sept 17, nothing
Sept 18, nothing
Sept 19, Inspector (8 minutes)
Sept 20, 3 hours and 15 minutes to fill hole. One of the workers takes down my tarp and takes it with him. I call John and he tells me he will get if for me. They leave a ladder at my house.
Sept 21 nothing
Sept 22 I meet with John and pay him the rest of the money $6200.00 minus 10 percent for a total of $5580.00. I showed him a picture of the worker that took my tarp.
Sept 23 nothing.
Sept 24 John picks up his ladder but did not return my tarp. I call him and sounds surprised that the tarp was not returned even though he told me he was going to return it. He tells me he is with the guy right now and started getting on someone. Tells me that it will be returned to me tomorrow.
Sept 25. Still missing my tarp. Sent John a text message at 3:09 pm. At 4:07 pm John sends me another text saying "He's coming it will be there today". Both Checks that I gave John have cleared.
If you calculate how much time was spent on the job 24 hours and 40 minutes it would have cost me $248.00 an hour if I gave them $6200.00, With them taking off %10 it cost $223.00 and hour. Plus calculate in my tarp at about $45.00. I put all this in here for you to decide if this company is worth it. Plus taking my personal property could have been an honest mistake but they were made aware of it right away and should have fixed the problem right away. Right now its 6 days later. Sounds like he is on the way. we will see.

When it came to the people doing the work I never had any issues with them. They were hard workers and were professional when I talked to them. The whole project cost me $5580 for a total of 17 days with 24.40 hours of work. The cost seemed high to me and the project seemed to take longer than I expected but they fixed the problem.

Update. September 26, 2016. Instead of brining back my tarp they bought me an new one. My original one is all I wanted back, but I guess that was not possible so I have to give them credit for getting me a new one. I've upgraded the rating from 2 stars to 3 stars.

$300 to fix a kitchen sink drain is a lot of dough, but it works now, and the technician was prompt, professional, clean and courteous. You can't ask for much more these days.
