I am really not one to complain but I feel the need to express my frustration with this business. Roto-Rooter came out to my house in January to replace my main water line. They did a great job, fast service that day and we have not had a problem with the pipes since. Well, in the process of the repair, they dug up my yard and removed a bush. As the end of the day approached, they finished the job, replaced the dirt and left, telling me that they would come back the next day and level the ground, plant grass, and replant my bush. I was fine with this. However, the next day, they didn't return. I called within the next few days, they apologized on the phone and said they would send someone that day. They didn't show up. Again. Over the next MONTH, I called at least 4-5 additional times. Each time they were extremely reassuring and apologetic, I even spoke with the owner who ensured me that """"this is not the way they do business"""". STILL, to this DAY, nearly 2 months after replacing the main line, they have YET to come back and fix my lawn. My bush is long dead, the front of my house is bare and looks ugly. Last time I spoke to someone on the phone, they told me they would have someone out within the HOUR. No one showed... surprise. Now, I will replace the bush and plant the grass myself, but that's not my biggest problem. My biggest issue is the integrity of this business. We paid them for the job in full immediately after it was completed, yet they refuse to come finish the job they started properly. They need to put their money where their mouth is when it comes to customer service. They need to do what they say they're going to do. Honestly, if you're thinking of calling Roto-Rooter, expect your plumbing to be repaired correctly, but not much more.

I had the misfortune of using Roto-Rooter this past week to unclog a kitchen sink--I must say the plumber came, did a good job and quickly. The bill indicated his time on the job was 5:00 to 5:37 and the charge was $285! Initially I thought he was kidding when he said the amount--then he reduced it to $250 which was nice but . . . . that comes to about $500.00 per hour for their service?? My mistake was not asking for their rates when I made the appointment and no one volunteered the information. Roto-Rooter called the next day to see if I was happy with the service--I said yes, the job was done well (don't have to be a rocket scientist to put a snake in a pipe) but that I was shocked at the price for their service. Three different people gave me three different stories as to their pricing . . . So beware of Roto-Rooter. I know I won't be calling them again . . .

The repair was completed but the repairman Did not bother to clean up after the repair.I was charged for parts to temporarily repair the water heater until I could get it replaced about three days after. The parts weren't returned nor was I given a discount for the new parts that were just days old when the installation of the new heater was completed.

We had a leak in one of our bathrooms and had called several people in the Lugoff and Camden area, we either got no call back or no one showed up. I called Roto-Rooter in Columbia and I had a date set IMMEDIATELY! They even tried to get it the same day as I called but I couldn't do it so they came the very next day. Ricky was GREAT and knew just what the problem was, wrote up an estimate, and I spoke with the ladies there the next day to approve the estimate. Ricky was at my house the very next day getting the work done!!! He left NO mess and my husband's shower looked so good that I called that very night to get Ricky back out to my house to do my shower, even though I didn't have a leak. I was jealous of how my husband's shower looked and wanted the beautiful handle and shower head that my husband had (but prettier). I spoke with him and left the look up to him and it is GORGEOUS!!!! We had an old, old shower with old appliances in it and he updated EVERYTHING, put in new hardware and even fixed my drain that was slowly deteriorating. Now I just turn my shower on with a flick of the wrist and LOVE my new shower head!!! And again, you would never know he was there! I trusted them so much that I wasn't even home when he did the work! He didn't even mind the dogs! I couldn't be happier!!! I have to think of something else for him to spruce up in the near future. He was HIGHLY trustworthy, pleasant, honest, and knows his stuff! He did a wonderful job and I recommend him to people left and right. The ladies in the office are just as awesome, they were SO helpful and helped with any question I had. I think they know me pretty well by now!! These folks are great and the prices are very affordable. I'll be calling them whenever I have an issue or just wanted to update some things!! Give them a call, I stand by them wholeheartedly!!!! I leave my shower curtain open halfway now just so people can see their work!!!! Stephanie Britt

They are outrageously over-priced but mostly very disorganized, under staffed both with experienced technicians and competent office staff. MaryAnn seemed to stay confused and the technicians kept changing & missing the appointments. Rock would not call me as requested, he had to return several times and missed every scheduled appointment. Once after waiting an hour for him to show I called for status, the office said he was just leaving the office now, but when I'd spoken to him just an hour prior he was on the other side of Columbia, headed directly to me. So he instead of coming here as he stated, went to the office without bothering to tell me of the further delay and for no apparent reason. There were NO SPECIAL PARTS or EQUIPMENT required for this call-back, just inconsideration. The job costs were the most ridiculous of all. It was explained to me that the labor prices are set by the national corporation but that the parts were marked up at the technicians discretion and since they are commission based, the parts are marked up over twice what they are when purchased at Lowes or local parts stores. Last the owners seem very quick to get hostile and do not listen or take customer complaints seriously. They assume I want something for nothing when I have paid HUNDREDS of dollars for services that need constant follow-up, as each time a new part is added with a marked up cost. They do tell me that if its a call-back issue there is thankfully 'no charge' but there are still always additional parts. Most importantly, every single time they don't finish, I must take time off work and miss pay! So they cost me salary & continue to find things to overcharge me for. Overall the are over priced, unprofessional & unorganized. Non-Corporate plumbing companies are cheaper and don't overcharge to balance out high franchise fees.

Paid them $3,707.42 in 2019 for a sewage grinder pump job. The same problem happened again last week. Another highly recommended company determined the Roto Rooter pump had been installed incorrectly, the electrical wires had been cut wrong and shortcuts had been taken during installation. It was further determined this could have very well caused a fire to our home. The new pump installed by Roto Rooter should have lasted longer, but the way they cut wires & installed, the warranty would have been voided anyway. It was shocking to learn a major repair was done incorrectly. Lacey, the person in the office has not returned my call. It is absurd for anyone to pay almost $3,800 for a new pump & installation and have to turn around and have the Roto Rooter work replaced with a brand new pump & installation in such a short period of time. This company is NO GOOD. I would not recommend them based on them receiving thousands of dollars for an extremely inferior sewage grinder pump sale/installation. Customers beware. If you want poor quality service in every rateable area contact them. It cost thousands of dollars, please pay attention to all this company's one (1) STAR ratings. They do not have a good reputation. If you call them and you are told you need a major installation & it will cost you a lot of money...please call another company. Do Not allow them to replace & install anything major. Don't waste your money or time with Roto Rooter and office girl/owner Lacey. Actually I would rate them less than one (1) star if a lesser rating was available. Even a one star is too high. They are a minus TEN star rating to me. I hope the $3,707 42 paid to them is a plague, not a blessing. Thank God for the reputable company that saved our home from a fire due to Roto Rooter's shoddy pump/installation. Stay far away from them call anyone else for competent & ethical service.

This was the best plumbing experience I have had. Jonathan was punctual, professional, answered all of our questions and did a marvelous job. I did not know what to expect before calling (especially since my past plumbing experiences with other companies was not the best) but even the person that set up the service call was extremely friendly and helpful. My experience all around was a great one. I will definitely be using Roto-Rooter for all of my future needs. Update: The issue was not resolved but after a callback they sent a very experienced plumber to our home. John was amazing. He explained everything and actually located the real issue. He completed the repairs and I am extremely satisfied with the repair that was completed by John. He located the issue quickly and made sure it was resolved. RotoRooter you have a happy client!!

I've never been """"ghosted"""" by a plumbing company before them. They took the insurance money to find the leak. They said they would begin work. They left the work site without notification and never returned. I've called many times. They promise to call back but they don't follow through with calling back. Extremely unprofessional. I'm very disappointed. I'm a disabled veteran and getting around is not easy. Shame on them.

This is a bittersweet review, as my experience as it pertains to the actual plumbing workmanship was not stellar, but my interaction with management was exceptional and worthy of praise. There was a lingering plumbing issue that was eventually resolved by utilizing another plumbing company. When I reached out to management for resolution, the manager, Lisa Peevy addressed the issue with finesse, compassion, professionalism, and empathy. This review is really about how remarkable Ms. Peevy's ability to de-escalate and problem solve all while developing a rapport so effortlessly. She is the kind of soul you just connect with and because she makes you feel like a valued customer, it's impossible to be upset and you can rest assured knowing that she has your best interest at heart. I only hope that the other chains emulate these skill sets as she has set the bar for exemplary customer service! Thank you Lisa Lisa for being the epitome of Professionalism. Kind regards! I have been staying in a hotel and just started repairs on my home after having to hire several contractors to repair drywall, replace flooring, etc. I still have a toilet sitting inside of a $1000 bath tub that Roto Rooter left. I'm praying that my brand new rub isn't damaged or cracked. My tub is the only item in the bathroom that wasn't ruined by the water damage and they left a heavy toilet sitting inside of it bc they were too lazy to take it outside and sit in inside of the garage. Also, I have to hire an electrician to repair several electrical outlets which stopped working after the massive amount of heating done in my home. Smh. Additional bills not covered by insurance. Run fro Thai company. I may end up filing a lawsuit.
