I called Roto-Rooter because of a toilet leaking issue. They showed up and quoted me $549 to snake my toilet. They'd cut the price to $349 if I pulled the toilet myself. Before I did so the first ""tech"" flushed handfuls of toilet paper. I pulled the toilet, then the tech wanted to wait for another tech to show up. The next guy shows up and scopes my main sewer line (which I didn't agree to pay for), then they quote me $11,000 because my sewer main is holding water (behind previously flushed toilet paper mind you). Then they still charge me $349, and coax me into paying it because it'll go towards the cost of the sewer line repair and they said they'd stand behind their quote. They both ensured me that was a great deal. I paid the $349 to get them off my property. I then called a different sewer inspection company and got my line inspected. From that inspection and phone calls to other sewer inspection companies the toilet paper then scope process is a known scam to get you to agree to repairs that aren't needed. What was my issue? A leaky toilet flange seal that I replaced myself for $19.
I've called Roto Rooter management multiple times and left voicemails. I've written the local office. I've sent letters to their corporate office and emailed the corporate office. I have yet to receive a SINGLE response from ANYBODY at this company.
My next step is reporting this company to the BBB and maybe show up to their local office face to face and ask to speak to ANYBODY in management. The only good thing out of this is that I didn't agree to the $11,000 repair. Just wish I didn't get SCAMMED in the first place. Had they even just said sorry I would have been happier. But ZERO response is NOT ok.
Stay away unless you have some extra money you want to part with. They get one star from me because I can't give them a negative star. I wouldn't suggest this company to a single soul. For any reason.

Strange sounds from the toilet.
Slow draining tubs.
Situation kept getting worse.
I attempted to fix it for hours to no avail. Called Roto-Rooter at 730pm on a Saturday night and Dan Nelson showed up in less than an hour. 20 minutes later the problem was solved. Excellent service, knowledgeable, and fast. I highly recommend Dan and Roto-Rooter to all.
I can sleep easy now.
Thank you Dan!
Thank you so much Kyle!!! Seriously, he had to come out late and stayed until he'd fixed the problem which ended up being three or four hours. He clearly explained the process and options and could not have made it any easier. There were some issues with the initial call, somehow they called an old phone number which was confusing but once that was sorted out the service definitely more than made up for the mixup. Would call back anytime. Thanks again!
Khiem M.I've been trying to schedule for an inspection with Roto-Rooter for the last 2 weeks and got reschedule 5 times including this morning at 8am. They didn't even call to notify me. Apparently there's an emergency elsewhere. The plumber will come to my house after the emergency, per the operator it should be within the hour. Most likely the same as before and get a call to reschedule again. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE SERVICE.
Scheduled them to fix a plumbing issue for my mother. Day 1- no call / no show foR appointment. 2nd day wheN they diidnt arrive, my motheR called themm and tHey said "" Sorry, our truck broke down"".
Mind you..we had to call them for this 2nd misSed appt.
3rd day they FINALLY arrived.
They gave a quote of $1200 for a low pressure shower issue. What a joke! Poor customer service & outrageous quotes
Our toilet was not draining and to make matters worse, someone used it anyway. We called Roto-Rooter on Monday morning and they were there by Monday afternoon. Daniel Polk showed up with a positive attitude, let us know exactly what he was going to do and what it would cost and any subsequent actions to be taken. He augered the clog away and cleaned up the mess to our complete satisfaction. How does the song go?
""...........and away go troubles down the drain""
Our sewer line broke, backing up the toilets and the back-pressure sent sewage overflowing out of every drain in the house. Called their 24hr line to request a service ASAP. They scheduled someone to come over within the hour... 3 hours later a tech shows up and says they will have to come back the next day with more tools. 3 days later after cancelling several times they show up to complete the job in a weeks time. Leaving the job site a mess and sewage debris all over my driveway. I DO NOT recommend using their service. Use local plumbers who care and will do it right.
Edwin S.Scheduled with them two days in advance for an urgent repair on a Friday prior to an inspection. Made that clear. Was given a 2hr window on Friday that turn into 5 hrs and numerous calls that they were delayed but would be showing up soon and then a final call with them telling me they can't come out till Tuesday. At this point they added that they don't do service on weekends in my area......so they committed to a time frame, over booked (and admitted that) and didn't inform me at the time of me scheduling the appointment, that if there were a delay or cancelation on their part that they don't operate on weekends....so, lets not disclose an important part of a Friday appointment for an urgent repair
Mike B.I'm the assistant manager for an apartment complex. I called on a Friday about a big leak we just discovered and the person I talked to was actually great. We scheduled someone to come out Monday at noon. I was able to give all affected tenants more than 24 hrs notice (as is the law) that we'd be entering their property....everything afterward was incredibly frustrating.
Monday at 3pm I got a call saying that they weren't going to make it to the property and would need to reschedule. I told them that I had told the tenants the time to work was 12pm-7pm and asked if someone could still come out. The answer was no and they offered to reschedule for the next day....except that wouldn't give them 24 hours notice.
So we rescheduled for Wednesday (today) from 8am-12pm. But because I missed a call in the morning, someone decided to have the technician go to another job...even though I called them back 8 minutes later. I pleaded with the dispatch person to see if they could just go to the property instead but they held the line for whatever ridiculous reason. I asked if they could just send someone out without needing verification from me AND if they could still call me to let me know when someone was on the way so I could make sure the maintenance man was ready to meet them. But that didn't happen either. I got a call from the technician who just entered the unit, took a look at the problem, and then called me afterward. Fortunately they were understanding enough to wait for a quick minute for me to call the maintenance person to go meet them and provide additional details about the problem he had discovered.
While I was upset while on the phone, was nothing but polite having worked many customer service jobs in the past. I say this cause dispatch seemed to become a jerk for me asking why they couldn't just put the technician back onto our job since so little time had passed.
Since I've reflected on it I've become more upset. WHYYYYYYYY is it necessary to talk to someone the morning before a *scheduled* appointment just to say you are sending someone out or else you lose your spot? I can completely understand losing your spot if no one is there to meet the technician. But to need someone to say ""Yes, let's meet at the time we have already both agreed upon""?....what a terrible process!
In summary---knowing that there was a big leak, many tenants whose lives were disrupted, having Roto Rooter cancel our original appointment despite it only being 3pm that day, skipping out on the job because I didn't answer my phone that morning to say YES to the *time and date we already agreed upon*, being treated like trash because I asked the dispatch if they could correct the situation since only 8 minutes had passed since the phone call, and then given no warning of when someone was on their way despite me explicitly asking for it------I'm beyond frustrated.
Their technician being competent professional who didn't try to skip out at a moments notice is the only reason I didn't give a 1 star rating.
Julia C.I made an appointment for Saturday between 11:15-1:15. No one ever came. When I called, they said they were delayed but could not give me an estimated time. I didn't get a call until 3:30. They said they would be out in the next hour/hour and a half. They didn't call again until 7:30pm to say they were on their way. I rescheduled for the next day and I was told I was a top priority. The next morning, I got a call at 8:00am, they said a technician will be there in 30 minutes. I am now waiting an hour past the 30 minute time the technician was suppose to be here. I just wanted to get an estimate. I can't imagine going with this company if you actually had to get any work done. Ridiculous.
