After an unfortunate experience with another plumber (see review of ""A Water Solution Inc."") a technician from Roto-Rooter, James Wallace came out to survey the situation. The main drain was clogged by tree roots. James did a great job walking me through the process and explaining what was wrong. He clearly explained the options that I had and when he left I had a full understanding of the issue and the steps that were going to be taken. Scheduling the appointment was a breeze and everyone was super friendly. What made it even nicer was the coupon that they offered on their web site.

I had a major plumbing issue late at night on Saturday which flooded part of my living room and bathroom. I immediately called my local plumber who was honest and told me I'd probably get a better rate with roto rooter for what I needed done. My main line from my house to the street was clogged and he said roto rooter deals with this all the time and would be my best rate... I called their 24 hour call center and the person scheduled an appointing for first thing Sunday morning which surprisingly was a regular business day and there wasn't extra fees like most places would charge. I was surprised they could get someone so quick on short notice. They called 30 minutes ahead and asked some questions to come prepared for the issue. They showed up, looked at everything and gave us a free quote and said we could go with them or we didn't have to and there was no charge for the quote. The quote was good, and the work was performed successfully, and courteously, they even took our coupon we found off of the bill. I feel their service fee was fair and a great value. I would recommend them to anyone and plan on using them for any future plumbing needs.

I definitely appreciated that I was able to call this company and that the plumber came within 45 minutes on Thanksgiving while I had a house full of guests and a basement full of sewage. The gentleman spent over two hours going through a pipe, taking out tree limbs, but it was not the pipe that we told him was clogged. Our home use to be a three family and had been replumbed when sewers came through, so what was the main is NOT the main anymore.

The man started packing up his stuff, saying there will be no charge because he didn't fix it. When told he had not snaked the pipe in the floor, he said it wasn't worth trying. We said we'd bet him double the cost that it would fix it. He brought the stuff back in, snaked the pipe we told him was the problem and the water drained away. This took less than ten minutes.

Good thing he didn't take the bet. But, he did not properly seal the pipe that he had been working on and it was leaking the next day. A different tech showed up, He got a different cap and fixed the leak that had been caused by the other tech not sealing the pipe properly.

By the way; three weeks later and our pipes are still running freely.

So- First tech- 2 stars.
Second tech- 5 stars.

They were able to come out right away and clean a drain that was backing up into my basement. The cost actually was lower than any other estimate I received. He cleaned up afterwards and the place looks and smells as good as new.

We had a sewage back up into our finished basement and were happy that they came within 30 mins of our call. Russell was our technician and we was very professional and knowledgeable. We may have paid a bit more than average but it was worth it!!

On a Sunday morning our drain begin to back up from our kitchen sink and then in our laundry sink. Within 1 hour we had 4 sinks in the house backed zip and we made a service call to RotoRooter to schedule an appointment for our drains. We were able to get a appointment within a two day window and our drain was unclogged and back to normal usage! Thanks RotoRooter for being available 24 hours 7 days a week!

We live in an older house with poor drain systems and galvanized pipes. Finally, I was tired of our guest bathroom sink and tub not draining properly (how embarrassing when you have guests!!) so we called and within a few hours someone was able to come out and take a look. We appreciated the speed and the fact they got both the sink and tub to drain well, we had quite the surprise when he told us our final cost...over $100 more than the quote and he never even came down to check with us before proceeding on the ""extra"" work. Prior to starting the job he provided us with a quote and told us he could access the pipes for both the sink and the tub together so it would be just one job. Turns out as he got to working on this, he realized it would require two ""entrances"" as he called it. Would have been nice if he had come downstairs and checked with us before doing the extra work, but he didn't and we were stuck paying for it. I wouldn't call them again because of this. We felt nickel-and-dimed.

You never want a stream of water spraying out of a lead pipe all over the stacks of boxes and Christmas decorations you have crammed into your basement. And it's never a good thing when the first plumber you have come to look at it starts wringing his hands in worry and talking about jackhammering the concrete floor and digging up the front yard.

It's a good thing, when this happened to us, that I called this Roto-Rooter place. Initial estimates for the job ran upwards of $2500, but one of their service technicians, Dave Denton, was confident he could get the job done without destroying our basement and without bleeding our bank account dry.

He did. After consulting with his supervisor, he arranged to make a special trip out to give it a try, and he completed the job at about a fifth of what it might have cost.

The staff at RR were professional, prompt, and they saved me a ton of money. I've seen enough plumbers to know that doesn't happen often.

This review is for two pieces of working with Roto Rooter: 1) the customer service who handled our phone call and ""scheduled"" the service, 2) the technicians who actually arrived and did the work.

First, the bad. Our basement had backed-up and filled with sewage. Blech. We called more than one place to see who could come fastest. Rotor Rooter appeared to be our bet. The customer service folks we called were horrible. The promised service within 3 hours. 3 hours later we get a call that it'll be AT LEAST another 1-2 before someone comes. Suddenly we felt like we'd be had. It took forever for our technician to arrive, WELL beyond what the initial customer service rep had promised. But, what could we do at that point?

Second, the good. When our technician arrived, he was awesome. The first person I'd talked to all day who actually seemed to understand what was going on. The City had been making mistakes and suggesting things that not only didn't work, but were flat our wrong. Our technician got things going and found the source of our problem. Thank goodness. I'd easily choose our technician again and again. I'm not so sure about the customer service. But, I've only had to use them once. Everyone has bad days.

The drain for my washing machine was backing up into a basement shower tub so I first tried snaking it myself. I also soon discovered that other drains were causing backups too. After my efforts didn't work I called Roto-Rooter. The Service Tech, Will, came out in the late evening on a Friday night and was able to pull what looked like a small bush of tree roots from my main pipe and restore sewage flow. He has also scheduled for a follow up visit to run a camera to discover where and why the roots are damaging and clogging the drain. Total cost was $360 including the camera follow up. Will was very nice and easy to talk to. He was very conscious of keeping everything as clean as he could and he did an excellent job.
